Devon Pet Friendly Cottages

devon pet friendly cottagesDevon is one of the most popular areas of the UK for holidays largely for the pretty towns and villages and of course the sandy beaches.  Many have restrictions when it comes to dogs but there are still quite a few beaches which allow dogs making this area a good choice for a pet friendly holiday.

All of our Devon cottages welcome pets so you can take the whole family on holiday to join in the excitement and adventure.

If you like character buildings then you will lobe Rosemary Cottage which has been lovingly renovated and provides an excellent base to explore the region for up to 4 guests.  Stone fireplaces and exposed beams add to the charming nature of this cottage.

For woodland walks close by then we recommend Acorn Retreat which is a cottage style first floor apartment enjoying enviable views overlooking ponds, lakes and woodland.  Barnstaple is just 9 miles away for days out.

Pet Friendly Days Out in Devon
Beaches
At the time of writing some beaches allowing dogs include East Portlemouth, Mill Bay, Salcombe North and Thurlestone in the south; and Lynmouth, Watermouth Bay and Saunton Sands on the northern coast.  Your dog will love splashing around in the sea and running off energy on the sand at any time of year.
Lydford Castle and Saxon Town
This stunning historic site is beautifully located on the fringe of Dartmoor, The castle is very impressive and boasts some amazing defensive features including a 13th-century tower keep on a mound, which is now famous for being a prison notorious for harsh punishments! Visitors can also see an earlier Norman earthwork castle and the Saxon town defenses. Dogs on leads are welcome although restrictions may apply.
Okenhampton Castle
A popular dog friendly day out in Devon. Visitors can see the impressive remains of one of the largest castles in Devon. The location above the rushing River Okement is incredibly beautiful and the whole site is ideal for dogs that need lots of space to enjoy their walks. Dogs may have to stay on leads in some areas.
Treasure Trails Devon
Awarded Best Tourism Activity & Experience in Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2010 and offers a fun and rather unique way to explore the region. The self-guided walking trails are perfect for families and of course the family dog will enjoy every minute! The Trails are between 1 and 4 miles long and are themed with either treasure hunt, spy mission or murder mystery options. Please be aware that the trails may pass through busy town areas as well as parks and gardens so dogs may have to be on leads at times.
