Birchcroft Hideaway Reviews

Birchcroft was the perfect size for my 70th birthday family get together. The level of appointment was fantastic and every need was catered. The grounds were stunning and the privacy wonderful. Our five year old grandson loved the summerhouse and its contents as well as exploring the grounds and the older ones really enjoyed the hot tub. Location was also very convenient for Bournemouth and Poole and Ferndown has a great range of shops, stores and eating places. Thank you for a memorable week

The Birchcroft Hideaway suited our group's needs brilliantly. There were 6 adults, two children and a dog and we all had a wonderful weekend. The kitchen was well equipped, with a lovely table large enough for us all to enjoy breakfasts and dinners together. The hot tub was a treat for the adults, and the Wendy house was a treat for the children. The rooms were comfortable and bathrooms were clean. We loved watching the birds from the living room and playing in the large garden. We took day trips to Poole and Brockenhurst and walks around the nearby Stour River nature reserve. Lovely food from the Jolly Sailor in Poole and The Angel for Sunday dinner a bonus that we could walk from the property. Thank you! The only downside was that the WiFi was patchy and there seemed to be a few ants in the kitchen.

The property provides a very comfortable retreat with lovely grounds and good walks in the adjoining woods for dogs and their owners The house is well provided, especially for the elderly or frail and very well located for visiting local attractions In fact, the only downside if any was that the gardengrounds was not dog proof and although some way off access down the drive to the main road was easy for any escapee animal We will, however be happy to return for a second visit with animals in tow Well worth the visit

Great, peaceful, well maintained place to stay. Wonderful location in a hideaway. Loved the orthopaedic bed, great for me as a wheelchair user. The hot tub was such a delightful addition too, spending a birthday here was the perfect choice. Would absolutely love to come again in the future.

Amazing location, my son and my dog did not want to leave the hot tub was a massive hit clear instructions on how to use everything towels provided everything was clean when we got there spacious lovely garden area close to the beach sandbanks is 25 mins away we were happy at the beach in the day and relaxing in the garden of an evening games for children were included which my 7 year old and 13 year old enjoyed playing with would definitely come back
We had an amazing stay the house was ideal for celebrating my birthday with the whole family. The bedrooms were a great size, and the large garden was perfect for relaxing and spending time together. There was plenty of parking, which made things really easy for everyone. We especially loved the hot tub such a treat! The location was also fantastic, close to everything we needed. It did get quite warm upstairs during our stay, but it was during a heatwave, so that was expected. A couple of fans would be a great addition for those hotter days. Overall, a wonderful stay and wed definitely come back!
This is a great place to stay, it had everything we needed, was very private and secluded yet near shops etc. Great short walks for dogs on doorstop and possible to go further without driving Ferndown Common, Stour Valley Way. Would definitely recommend this property.
We had a lovely stay and the property was clean and tidy. The play house was a huge hit with our grandson. The hot tub instructions were a bit confusing as there was some of the maintenance tools missing. This was soon cleared up when speaking to the owner. One of the sinks in the bathrooms does not hold water as the seal on the plug is warn. The blinds do not have safety catches we found this out when my grandson found the cord. This is just a heads up and didnt detract from our lovely holiday here. Having the park close by was also a plus and the views are fantastic.

We had a lovely stay in this lovely location, the gardens are very pretty and lots of wildlife was seen. There are some short walks just outside the back of the property which are good if you have dogs. Location is good for the new forest. The property was superficially cleaned and was acceptable. New sofas are nice. Rest of house is a little dated. The whole house could do with a deep clean, lots of tissues behind and under furniture, black mold in all the bathrooms, toilet bowls have stains in them. We didnt use the hot tub as it was raining most of the time and no outside cover there looked like there were hot tub towels provided but these were in a plastic bag and looked like they were potentially dirty odd way to store them. The information explained that the dishwasher is small so they provide plenty of dishwasher tablets but only one was provided. We used the dishwasher with the one tablet but there was a puddle on the floor after, so we wouldnt have been able to use it anyway. They also say they provide different types of bin liner for bins but these were not available either. The was some food left as a welcome gift I assume? but it was a really odd selection oat cakes, a bag of crisps and some after eights and some biscoff I felt like it perhaps was just stuff left by the last occupant instead? There was a box with tea and coffee on the side but that was filled mostly with sweetners and just a couple of coffee satchets. There is an ant problem in the downstairs of the house with lots of ants running on the furniture in the kitchen and the living room, we made sure not to leave any food on the side as I would imagine there would then be a large army of ants. The outside childrens play shed needs a clean we had a small child with us so may have used it if it was clean, but the floors were very dirty. Overall our stay was very nice and we had a lovely stay so I wouldnt be put off by coming again. Gardens are well maintained. However I feel the house needs some love and attention starting with a decent deep clean. Small things like providing tea and coffee and a pack of biscuits rather than a random selection of food would be better and more of what is expected from a holiday cottage.
Beautiful property. Lovely garden. Hot tub had a few problems with milky water. Very irritating that the conservatory door was locked. We needed access to the hot tub without traipsing through the lounge with 2 small children. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment but not much room for food storage. It would have been helpful to have a coded lock to enable access to the wood through the bottom gate. Its a dangerous walk around the road having to cross twice for pavements. Very good local pubs in walking distance. Good information provided and appreciated the accessibility as we had a mobility scooter user in our party. Very generous with the bath sheet sized towels. We had a fabulous holiday and would love to come back next year. Thank you.
This is a proper hideaway, very spacious cottage. if you want peace and quite, this is the place for you. Close to everything, squirrels just make your day and the hot tub is a bonus.
We had a lovely holiday at Birchcroft and loved the view from the beautiful garden. The facilities for our disabled daughter were invaluable, especially the electric bed and wet room. We hope to be back for our next holiday.

We had a wonderful holiday at Birchcroft Hideaway, its situation is perfect, we had some lovely walks, enjoyed the gardens, walking to the pub which was excellent and easy access to the gorgeous beaches at Bournemouth if you get up and leave early enough to avoid queuing in the traffic! !. The playhouse is such a welcome addition if you have children with you. However, there is a big 'but', the sofas in the living room are no longer fit for purpose and need to be replaced, they are so worn that we actually moved the two seater wicker sofa from the conservatory to the living room, however, this created another problem as when the sofa was moved in the living room, the dirt and debris in the sofa fell onto the floor and underneath the sofa was a lot of rubbish, dirt and drink stains. There had definitely been no cleaning between the sofa cushions in a while as we found tissues, shells, pencils and my granddaughter found a large chunk of cheese under the floral electric chair in the living room, not ideal for a toddler. I actually got the mop out and cleaned the kitchen, dining room and the mess on the living room floor and advised the agent that I had used the single floor wipe that was there. Thankfully we had taken plenty of antibac and kitchen towel. I was surprised to read the instructions for the hot tub, where it said that you didn't need to do anything on your first use, as when we looked there were no testing strips in either pkt so we had no idea whether it could be used or not, a new supply was provided on the Thursday. however, it would be useful if whoever did the check prior to us arriving had supplied a new pkt, they would have realised they had used the last one. The plumber did attend to fix the leak in the main bathroom, so a new shower seal should be fitted. We were unable to close the velux window in the double bedroom upstairs as there is no handle at the bottom to pull on like there is in the twin room next door. Birchcroft is a fabulous home but it is in need of a really good clean and some TLC.

Excellent stay! Fantastic scenery with large beautifully maintained gardens! We really enjoyed our stay!

The location of the property is great, close enough to travel to Poole and Bournemouth. The grounds are beautiful, set in a lovely garden, lots of trees and really private. The outside playhouse was brilliant for our 3 year old. Hot tub was a nice treat too. It was such a shame that the cleanliness was not up to scratch. Dirty plates in the cupboard and cobwebs absolutely everywhere. The hot water is extremely hot, to the point where it could have easily scolded our little boy.
What a fabulous property! We spent a week in the property for my wife's 50th birthday. Our ages ranged from 16 years to 3 over 70's and everyone had a wonderful relaxing week. All ages are catered for along with our pet dog too! Amazing view from the garden and plenty of space to spread out enjoy the lovely garden. I would recommend this place and will definitely return in the future. Thank you
We had a lovely relaxing stay. The hot tub is a lovely feature. So nice to sit and relax in the garden watching the birds and squirrels etc. Great location and lovely place to stay the only thing we could recommend to make it even more comfortable is if the living room furniture could do with updating as the sofas sink down too low.
Enjoyed our stay at Birchcroft Hideaway, a great house in a lovely setting, everything we needed, clean and comfortable. ... thank you.

Was a great stay we really enjoyed, but the location would be even better in summer. We enjoyed the hot tub just a small suggestion, it would be great if there is a small space to change outside so we don't have to walk in to the house with wet clothes. Overall we really enjoyed it. Thanks to the owner for letting it out last minute as our booking got cancelled last minute.
