Cwmgilla Farm Reviews

Cottage was a great base for a family get together of all ages. Plenty of space to relax, well equipped, everyone enjoyed the games room and the hot tub was a real bonus. Welcome pack was a lovely touch.
Carolyn
The house is light, spacious and well equipped. The two big TVs meant that we could watch different sporting activities very important in the week of the World Cup. Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix! One of my friends found the beds a bit soft and not all the beds had summer duvets which was not ideal in a heatwave. There were quite a lot of flies in the kitchen area but they were all small so a minor irritation. With kites flying overhead and rabbits in the garden it was a very tranquil setting.

Had an amazing stay here! A beautiful, remote farmhouseperfect for a weekend away with friends and a special celebration. We were welcomed with fresh eggs, which was a lovely touch, along with a helpful booklet of local guides, takeaways, and useful information. As the house doesnt seem to be used very frequently, there was a bit of dust in places and some slight air buildup in the tap water, but it didnt affect our stay at all. The only minor downside was the number of flies. That said, it is a working farm surrounded by sheep and open fields, so its to be expected. It might be worth considering an electric fly zapper in the future, as they can be quite persistent. There was fly spray provided under the sink, which was appreciated, and the local shop also has fly trapsthose worked well for us as a temporary solution. Overall though, we had an incredible time. The house is spacious inside and out, with plenty of seating, stunning views, and sheep grazing all around, which really adds to the charm. There were lots of games available, plus useful amenities like a washing machine and dishwasher, which made the stay very comfortable. I would 100 come back and would highly recommend it for a peaceful countryside getaway.

We had a really good family holiday here. House was lovely, enjoyed the games room and hot tub. Comfortable beds. Heating in bedrooms was a bit random but we coped fine. Would recommend to people wanting a quiet comfortable place to stay.

Could feel the springs in the mattress, upstairs showers didn't work, the flies were a massive problem there needs to be provisions to get rid of them. Something electrical or fly screens. The tvs didn't work in the bedrooms, a part from that location was amazing and locals were lovely
Great party house. Dark skies, naughty sheep but much fun in the games room for all ages, but especially teens. Loved that it's a beautiful but worn house. Super relaxing and owners very friendly and accessible for any worries about naughty sheep and household issues. Highly recommend this holiday let.

The cottage offers a beautiful and serene setting, making it a highly recommended spot for relaxation. The only downside was the presence of flies, which is understandable given the time of year and the nearby livestock on the farm. Overall, it's a lovely place to unwind!
The views from this property were absolutely stunning, even more so than in the photos. We had children and dogs with us and felt very safe and secure the whole time we were here. The property was very clean and well maintained and we couldnt have asked for more. We all loved our stay and really wished we had stayed longer! Highly recommend.
Needs to have a handrail on stairs, quite useful for a man of of my age 88 . must say the accommodation was wonderful.

We had a lovely family stay at Christmas at Cymgilla Farm. The house was warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas with a lovely welcome hamper. The kitchen was well equipped with 2 ovens, 2 warming ovens and 2 fridges. The only issue was the fact that there were only 5 teaspoons for 8 adults! Also the downstairs shower was unusable as it didn't produce any hot water. This left us with the ensuite shower and one other in the bathroom . We coped though. The owner has promised to sort out these issues. There were also a few other maintenance issues but none of them spoilt our stay. What we really enjoyed were the games facilities table tennis, darts, table football, snooker. Also the hot tub with it's lovely views of the surrounding countryside. For dog owners the garden is not secure and with sheep in the fields all around, dogs will need to be kept on a lead. There were lovely walks along Offa's Dyke from Knighton itself or from the door with a short walk along the lanes leading to the Farmhouse. We would recommend you aim to arrive in daylight as the lanes are single track and any signs difficult to see. The last of our party had to be guided in using a mobile phone and waving of torches! We enjoyed our stay at the farm very much and thought it was reasonably priced.
We had a fantastic family holiday. The Welcome pack was very much appreciated. Everything we needed was there, bar a bottle opener! The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the pool table, it was in a poor state and the balls wouldnt roll straight. Having a pool tournament was one of the things we were most looking forward too. The table tennis and table football were great though as was the hot tub.

Absolutely perfect house for us and our friends. Plenty of parking for all of our vehicles too! The house was warm, clean and well equipped. We loved the wood burner and the 2 lounges! The kitchen was great for all of us to sit and eat around the table in the evenings. The youngsters loved the games rooms.

Hi Thank you so much for welcoming us in your lovely home we had the most wonderful experience here very fun holiday and the place was perfect and suitable for everyone and all our needs. Very spacious inside out.We loved the environment and the nature and mountains around and how much freedom we had during our time here thank you so much. We also liked the welcome basket and the hand book came in handy everything we needed was written in there. The only problem we acquired was with the hot tubJacuzzi that wasnt cleaned for all the days we stayed nobody came but we rang them. That made our holiday almost unbearable. But overall a beautiful space to stayPeople are also very friendly inside the town. Thank you so much.
Brilliant location, very large house with lots of space for everyone. Very clean, but needs a bit of TLC as looks a little dated, however this did not hinder the comfort. We were inundated with flies so couldn't have the windows and doors open, and we were also concerned about when our food was out for eating. It was a bit too warm inside especially at night, so maybe installing some air conditioning would help. The games rooms were a huge hit, we had lots of fun in there with the family. The hot tub was fabulous and an added form of relaxation. Overall a great stay with efficient communication from the owner Amanda and the welcome basket was lovely and very thoughtful. We had takeaway from the Indian in the town which was very nice.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. We were a party of 11, 5 kids, 5 adults and a puppy! This was a fantastic cottage for playing loads of space and activities provided for everyone and some brilliant games of hide and seek! We also felt that our puppy had plenty of space to run around without risk of escaping though admittedly his recall is pretty good. Hot tub was HUGE! And fit almost everyone at once. The owners were fantastic, there were a couple of issues including a local power cut but they contacted us and were quick to respond with any queries we had. We hope to return as this was a perfect stay for our group!

We had a very comfortable stay at the cottage. The cottage was as described. The games room was well used as was the hot tub. Beautiful property in an idyllic location

Spent 3 nights at Cwmgilla Farm for a 60th Birthday, lots of space for 10 of us, kids and adults spent quality time in the games room and hot tub, lots of games available to play. 2 comfy sitting rooms where we spent our evenings relaxing. Very well equipped kitchen with everything we needed to make meals for 10 people and dine all together. Utility area ideal for the dogs when they came back from a walk. Enjoyed the welcome basket on arrival.

An excellent break at an amazing property. Lovely views from the windows. The 2 games rooms were brilliant from the pool table, foozball, table tennis and darts. The property was everything we could have hoped for and easily fitted us, 6 adults and 3 young children. Could not fault it.
Cynthia
A lovely stay. Five couples shared this spacious property. Lots of space to gather together but also two comfortable living rooms. Fabulous hot tub which we used everyday and games room with pool, table football and table tennis. ping pong balls missing! Lovely welcome pack and very well equipped kitchen with two fridges and a freezer. Loved the location for walks and cycle rides. Hostess excellent and very responsive to some initial teething problems. Highly recommend this cottage.
Heather
It is a well equipped property that suited our family very well, we made good use of the games room and hot tub, the utility room was ideal for pets.
Victoria
Lovely holiday. Very spacious house with amazing views.
The house is in an amazing location and has plenty of space and facilities. The hosts were very helpful and responsive, they had also left us a lovely welcome basket with the most amazing eggs!

I returned from Cwmgilla today after a weekend with my relatives. The location is very rural and quiet and the scenery beautiful. The town of Knighton is within easy reach and access to walking routes is good. The house is large and has five bedrooms, two reception rooms, two games rooms and a hot tub. The kitchen is large and ten people can be seated around the dining table. However, there were some faults that took the shine off my stay. At one point we were trapped inside the larger reception room because we could not open the door due to a faulty handle. If my sister in law, who was elsewhere in the house, had not let us out, I would have had to climb out of a window. The bottom hinge on the door to the small reception room was no longer screwed into the door frame and therefore dangerous. The doors to the downstairs shower do not meet and consequently water can escape onto the floor. The sofas need replacing, the mattresses too. The windows were dirty. Those are just some of the many small issues I found. The house needs some repairs and I would suggest that it needs refurbishment as the decor is looking tired. I took exception to the instructions for leaving, which ask you to strip linen from the beds and bag it up along with the towels. I think when you have paid hundreds of pounds for accommodation that service should be included. My wife complied with the request, but I would have left the beds personally. I think the instruction is cheeky.

This was a perfect house for our family gathering. Lovely quiet location, comfy & warm home, great walks from there and easy walking distance into the nice town of Knighton. The games room was well used. Hot tub was a hit. The two lounges were really good for our family, but an additional sofa in the snug room wouldve been great. The kitchen was perfect for dining. Just to mention, a couple more kitchen items. Serrated knives, extra chopping board, larger clothes dryer, no tumble drier All in all, a fantastic week at Cwmgilla Farm. Thanks so much.
We had a great weekend here and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The house itself could do with some general maintenance as parts are quite tired. However, as a group of 10, we found it well equipped, roomy and more than adequate for our needs. Hot tub was great and there is some lovely scenery, you are also surrounded by sheep. There were quite a few flies, but you are in the countryside. We found that if you put the post code into a sat nav it takes you to the wrong place, those of us who just entered Cwmgilla Farm had no problems. The lane to the house is single track and very bumpy so anyone with a low vehicle would find it difficult, but there is plenty of parking.
Noeline
Lovely house with plenty of space for all the family 5 adults, 4 children and a baby. Hot tub and games room were a big hit with everyone and used every day. Well equipped with everything to make our stay enjoyable. Good location with views along the valley. Gazing at all the stars after dark was epic, not something we see at home as too much light pollution. Welcome hamper was a nice touch, thank you. A great time was had by all 10 of us and the dogs.
Lesley
It's a great property. Loved the whole week Peaceful and quiet . Would come back The upstairs bathroom we couldn't use as water came through the ceiling in the kitchen after having a shower . I think the bath needs to be resealing . But there were two other showers, so it was not a problem Lots and lots of flies. This is probably due to being near a farm . Lovely for our two dogs too.
Annabel
Went for my daughters birthday we had a great time would go again for definite.

What an amazing property and stunning location. As a group of 9 we had an amazing stay. The games room and hot tub provided hours of quality family time of fun. It was lovely to wake up and look out at such beautiful surroundings. The welcome basket was such a lovely touch thank you
Just returned from a week at the amazing Cwmgilla Farmhouse. Everything was spotless, owners have thought of everything to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The welcome basket was a lovely touch, thank you. The games room and hot tub were a great success and enjoyed by all family members. The house is set in a beautiful location, we thoroughly enjoyed the many Country walks in the surrounding area. Highly recommend Cwmgilla Farmhouse and we look forward to a return visit in the future.

Rachel
The house was perfect for 6 adults, 4 kids and a dog. Lots of room for us all, games room, hot tub and board games provided kept everyone happy. Only downside the listing said there was a BBQ, we bought food for a bbq on Saturday there was no BBQ. A very small broken one by the bins. The grass wasnt mowed, the kids wanted to play catch and badminton it wasnt possible as the grass was too long.
Sylvia
It was lovely and peaceful in a beautiful area and the house was just what we wanted for a family holiday for 9 people aged 7yrs to 83yrs. We all had a lovely time and would recommend it to others.
