East Farm Croft Reviews

I felt very spoilt being able to stay at East Farm Cottage. The cottage felt light and airy and everywhere was clean and warm. There was everything one might need in the kitchen and in fact far better equipped than my house! The cottage was only 10 minute walk from the most amazing beach so easy to exercise the dogs in the morning, and for evening stroll amongst the dunes. We made good use of the selection of books including flower, birds and castles of Northumbria. We appreciated the welcome pack of tea, milk and Northumbrian biscuits especially after long walks in the Cheviots. We were impressed that there were 6 EV charging points in the village and just around the corner from the cottage. 2 grumbles 1. We did struggle a bit with the induction hob and oven even with the instructions! and felt that we needed more cooking rings. Not a problem in the winter of course, when the Aga on! 2. Although there was access to internet, it would have been useful to have recommendations of where might be good to eat out so we could reserve at start of our stay Maybe a visitors book to write suggestions? The places we did see wanted to go to were all booked up. Anyway, certainly not a big problem as Embleton Village Shop full of lovely provisions! I would really love to return again as such a perfect place to stay for exploring the fabulous coast line and not too far too drive into the hills for spectacular walks. Thank you.

Third visit to this cottage and will go back again! It is comfortable, well equipped and in a good location. Having parking and enclosed space for my dog is a great advantage as well.
The property is a credit to the owners. An extremely comfortable home from home in the perfect spot to access local amenities and to wander further afield. Just one request. Please provide a shower mat to help avoid a painful fall. Our first time at the croft and would love to return, even bringing a shower mat if needs be !

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. It mentions doing the bins it would have been helpful if in the info where they were located as not obvious and not in the garden! Lots of leaflets about trips out but info on recommended places to eat are always helpful I find. Usually info in a visitors book from other guests who recommend them but no book. But lovely stay .

The location couldn't have been better & the cottage was good enough that wed return in winter! The Aga made the whole cottage like sauna even though outside temperature only about 13. We both feel the cold but had to turn off all the radiators on arrival and even then we had to have windows open to be able to get a tiny bit of sleep. And even milk in the fridge curdled despite not having reached its sell by date. The cottage was relatively clean but various forms of human hair on the floor in the downstairs en suite. There had obviously been something spilt by the sink in the kitchen as there was stains on the inside of the cupboard that I could wash off & also on the plinth under the cupboard I didnt try to wash these off. But judging by how long cleaners were at The Snug next door when guests had left, I suspect all they do is change the beds & wipe down main things in the bathroom & kitchen. There was also a ball of dog hair under one of the sofas I just happened to be picking something up off the floor & saw it. I didnt look under the other sofa. Didnt bother me as we had dogs with us & it wasnt our dogs hair different colour but I did hoover under that sofa before we left. Lounge window blind was broken at the bottom & instructions attached to it on a luggage tag didnt work. But our main concern was the structurebuild of the cottage. My partner brushed against the radiator in the upstairs bedroom & it fell off the wall. Quite a heavy object & could have done some damage. Was only held up by 2 plastic things at the top & one at the bottom all other radiators were the same. There was no supporting brace from top to bottom. Worryingly the external walk that the bedroom radiator was attached to appeared to be plywood. Plasterboard screws had been used & when you looked into the screw hole you could see daylight as it appeared to go under the small roof above the downstairs bedroom. Reported it straight away & they were round in hours to fix it. Did look as though wasnt first time it has fallen off though. . Guest folder was very generic & some things not very helpful ie put bins out on collection day in their designated collection area. No idea where that was & even guests in neighbouring Snug asked us if we knew where it was. So we just left them where we found them. Parking was a bit tight. Room for 2 cars as long as they were small & you didnt want to close the gate. Cars parked at neighbouring properties made it awkward to manoeuvre through narrow gateway. Was pleasantly surprised by the courtyard outside. It had been my main worry as there were no photos of it on the listing but it was bigger than expected & great for the dogs to have a bit of room to snuff around. Cottage could have done with a boot room entrance way as whilst it was dry enough to rub dogs down outside after each walk, in winter it may not be. And also when it had rained we didnt want to take walking shoes off outside so a lot of sand got taken indoors though we hoovered it up. But the village shop, beach, golf club for lunchdrinks & ease of getting out to visit other areas made it awkward veey enjoyable stay.
What a wonderful find! The cottage is beautiful, spacious, clean, comfortable and has everything you need from a phone charger to childrens toys. The location is perfect too. We couldn't have wished for more and would definitely return in future.

A brilliant cottage, very roomy for the two of us and our dog. Comfortable sofas and beds, very warm and cozy, really well equipped loved the Aga! Handy small courtyard for the dog and seating to soak up the evening sun. In a great location, the village has a lovely little shop, a pub and hotel plus a lovely little walk to a beautiful beach. The photos truly reflect the cottage. Hope to return soon.

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage. It was very comfortable and set in an amazing location, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, which made cooking easy and enjoyable, and the Aga was a really lovely feature that made the cottage feel especially cosy. We also really loved having access to the outside space, it was lovely to have a view of Dunstanburgh Castle. Embleton is a great base for exploring Northumberland, and we really appreciated being able to return somewhere so warm and inviting after a day out. We would happily stay here again.
East Farm Croft is a quiet cottage in the lovely village of Embleton, with 2 pubs, the accommodation was warm and cosy, benefiting from central heating, an Aga and a log fire. Easy walking access to the lovely beach towards Low Newton and The Ship Inn, and also easy to walk past Dunstanburgh Castle to Craster. Would definitely recommend and would book again.
2nd visit.Lovely accommodation with warmth & comfort. Dog friendly, with loads of local walks, aswell as pubs & friendly hotel. It was lovely to escape & relax

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage the welcome pack was nice and generous, had everything we needed, clean and tidy thanks.
Disappointed the aga wasn't working, our main issue the lack of cleanliness ,kitchen sink was brown also the base washing up bowl just not been cleaned, the roman blind in lounge was held up by pegs so could not be used. Pants and shorts found behind chair in downstairs bedroom so obviously not been cleaned properly, also the upstairs bathroom floor was not clean. No instructions for oven or microwave but plenty for the none working aga.First time at a Sykes cottage visitor book.

Located in a peaceful spot. Quiet with ample parking and 15 minutes walk to the beach and two minutes to a beautiful wildlife reserve that we happed upon. Tasteful decor, spacious, well equipped and super comfy clean beds. Welcome pack gratefully received and handbook unfortunately for another cottage. Aga was oil fuelled and not electric and had the wrong manual instructions and was not on as stated. Immersion heater made the water temperature tepid. We could not shower or bathe comfortably. The bath was filthy and other areas. I contacted Sykes specifically and related that we did not want to leave negative comment as the positives outweighed the negative as we managed. Unfortunately we have not had a satisfactory response. A premium paid of 1127 for four days we did expect to be able to have hot water. If this is remedied we would recommend
Elaine
Lovely cottage very homely and well equipped. A little shelf in the downstairs shower would be nice for shower gelshampoo. Will definitely come back.

Very comfortable. Cottage with all amenities. Situation ideal for peace and quiet.

The cottage is beautiful and loving area bright. We enjoyed cooking in the Arga, a new experience! It also kept the cottage lovely and warm. An enclosed area for the dog in the court yard, and ample space for two cars to be parked. 10 minute walk from the beach. Plenty of room for four people in the centre of the village. Good facilities. One little suggestion could a bath mat be provided for older people stepping into the bath. Would visit again.
We absolutely loved our time at the cottage. It was really clean and felt so cosy. Everything you needed was provided and there was a lovely welcome basket too. There was parking on the drive. Set in a quiet village, there is a lovely village shop and a couple of pubs. There was also a lovely golf club where you can get food and drink before a lovely walk on the beach.
East Farm Croft is in a great location which is quiet and convenient for the local amenities and the beach. The property is very comfortable and well presented. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dogs. We would not hesitate in booking a return visit. We understand that the property has recently changed ownership and a visit by the owners to attend to some very minor maintenance issues would ensure that this property maintains a 5 star rating.
