Fisherman's Cottage Reviews

Sharon
We found the cottage to be very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. If being very picky the shower leaked everywhere. It was in an excellent location in Seahouses, quiet despite being close to the pub and the parking permit was most welcome.
Philip
Really enjoyed our stay at Fisherman's Cottage, Seahouses. Good location within a very short walk to the harbour, shops, pubs, etc... Cottage had everything we needed for our stay and was very clean and comfortable. As others have mentioned, there isn't parking outside the property but the car park is nearby and having the parking permit was really useful while visiting other locations in the area. Would highly recommend this cottage. Thank you.
Such a shame, on first arrival all the windows were filthy, caked in grimy dirt, the holiday cottages either side were pristine. Door handle was loose and didn't always lock first time. Bed, bathroom and towels spotless. Kitchen okay. Turned under counter light on and wished I hadn't looked as it was disgusting, brown dirty grease and the lights didn't work. Layer of dust on everything, curtains downstairs hadn't been washed for years, no exaggeration, they were filthy. Radiators very rusty. We took photos if you want them! Really disappointed as we were desperate for a holiday, thankfully the weather was good, but when you've spent the best part of two months mortgage for a week away we would expect more.
This is a lovely and thoughtfully arranged spacious property and the house itself has a good atmosphere. There are numerous attractive touches and we felt relaxed and comfortable from the moment we walked in and had a really enjoyable week here. The facilities were more than we have enjoyed in other properties, particularly the large freezer, an item often missing from holiday properties. We also appreciated the parking permit, which allowed us free parking at car parks such as the one at Beadnell beach where a disabled badge is not accepted. We were already familiar with the area which we love, having stayed here regularly for the last 25 years or so and were able to visit all our favourite places round about, though we still haven't travelled as far a the base of the Angel of the North, this time limiting ourselves to walks on Beadnell and Bamburgh beaches and visits to Alnwick and also to Alnmouth, where from the golf club car park with its spectacular views over the coast, there is a path down to the town, which has some pretty independent shops and also pubs and cafes. All in all a very enjoyable week.
A rather nice, comfortable house with everything you might need during the stay. Very good location both in terms of locality and for exploring walks along the coastal path. That includes driving part of the way to a destination and then parking for a good walk. The former made all the better by the parking permit an absolute joy to have!
Philip
Everything as expected, had a great holiday.
This is a lovely well equipped cottage, please be aware that there is no garden or private yard which we feel should have mention in the listing especially for families with small children or a dog. Otherwise great location.Should make more mention of the Parking Permit which is a very welcome bonus

Pretty cottage in the heart of Seahouses. Location great for everything Seahouses offers and as a base for touring Northumberland. No parking at cottage but pass allowed free parking at council park a short walk away. Everything provided for a comfortable stay but no outside space to sit with a cuppa or for children to play securely. Internal furnishings are quite worn.

A lovely, cosy home with comfy beds and good facilities. Only slight downside was the lack of parking at the house, but I suspect this is mot uncommon in the area because of the narrow streets and large number of visitors to the area. However, this was more than made up for by the provision of a parking permit for use in the big carpark in Seahouses as well as many other carparks in Northumberland, and we made good use of this during our visit. Seahouses itself is a lovely village with several excellent places to eat and drink, our favourite being the Olde Ship Inn which is just a few minutes walk away from the house. We would

A perfect winter stay. We had a great time in this lovely cottage. Like a home from home in a perfect location near to the amenities and the beach. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
Lovely cottage in a great seaside village. We visited out of season and enjoyed the cosy cottage and wealth of bracing coastal walks.
Andrea
This was our 2nd visit and we will return again. The location is perfect with pubs, fish & chip shops and grocery shops within walking distance of the cottage. We took advantage of the parking permit left in the cottage which gave us free parking in the station yard car park, which was a godsend. Lovely homely cottage which was beautifully warm when we arrived on a cold Sunday afternoon. Well stocked kitchen, dishwasher and washer dryer very welcome. Thank you for a lovely few days
Esther
Lovely property, very well equipped kitchen and comfortable living area for 6. The cottage is situated very centrally in Seahouses making it convenient to visit the shops and restaurants, as well as good access to sightseeing destinations in the area. As there is no onsite parking it was great that the parking permit was provided, with the car parks not far away, but I'd suggest making it clearer in the property description that there is no onsite parking but that the permit will allow parking for 1 car in the council car parks, without cost. One other thing we were surprised to have to strip our own beds upon leaving the first time we've been asked to do that. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you very much.
Comfortable well situated cottage. Great for exploring the local area.
Gillian
Great stay, brilliant location and very well equipped property and well maintained.
Joanne
Lovely holiday in a lovely cottage. Really close to the harbour and the shops. Parking wasnt a problem in the public car park which is a two minute walk away. The cottage is very spacious and comfortable and the owners were very attentive and helpful when we needed them for a small issue.
We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. The only thing that will put us off visiting again is there being no space to park car.
Fisherman's Cottage was a lovely place to stay for our family holiday. It's more spacious than it looks, and the bedrooms are a really good size. We loved the super king bed! And there's plenty of storage in the rooms. The lounge area is comfortable and the kitchen had most things we needed. A few minor annoyances such as the draining board doesn't fit and so either blocks the tap or leaks on to the unit. The guest information folder is quite out of date, some things have changed now. The heating also seemed to be set to 21 and could only be turned down for a few hours at a time which seemed unnecessary in the summer and we were too hot! The Magic TV remote battery is getting low too. It's such a gorgeous location though, so close to the harbour. And we really, really enjoyed being there.
Comfortable cottage in a great location, nicely furnished and well equipped. Easy to park right outside for dropping off luggage, then we parked on James Street unrestricted street parking which is closer than the council car park and was mentioned in the information pack in the cottage. Parking permit and disc provided were useful for car parks when visiting other places in the area we didn't pay to park anywhere all week. Our only suggestions would be blackout blinds in the bedrooms, a hairdryer, and a proper clothes airer there is a very flimsy one provided which can't hold much in the way of washing or beach towels.
Sandra
A comfortable old cottage in a convenient position in Seahouses. It has 3 spacious bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. No parking, but there is a parking voucher to use. Unfortunately there isn't any outside space to sit. We will return again to Fishermans Cottage, as we enjoyed our stay.
A delightful holiday cottage.
George
We really enjoyed our holiday in Fisherman's Cottage. It was comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a great location. We will certainly book this cottage again.

First impressions were the same as my last impression as I locked up lovely cottage but very tired looking needs a touch up in places. We did have a lovely stay here and the cottage did grow on me, parking situation was a nightmare you have to park in council carpark 58 minute walk away, they do provide a parking permit for one car but we had travelled in 2 this cost us an additional 70. Upstairs was lovely no real complaints, beds were comfortable.kitchen was well equipped. The problem is the sofa and carpet really old and tired looking to the point of looking dirty definitely ready for replacing. My other niggle is being left a list of things to do upon leaving, we always leave our rentals as we find them dispose of all rubbish, empty cupboards and fridges etc etc,i don't actually mind placing all towels in the bath that's fine but I do have problem with stripping all the beds I personally see that as the job of who ever is responsible for cleaning once the paying customer has left the price I pay for a week am sure includes the price of a clean once we have left. Wouldn't return to this cottage but mainly for the parking issue.

Lovely warm cosy cottage, a stones throw from the harbour. Very comfortable with a high standard of linen and fluffy towels, constant supply of very hot water and all you could need. Great to have parking permit supplied! Highly recommended
Debbie
We had a lovely stay at this cottage, very comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. Location is excellent for walking to the harbour, beach and shops without needing the car, and for day trips out along the coast. Parking Permit more than made up for parking in the village car park, probably saving us 40 at least on parking through the week on days out.
Lovely cottage, great location, cosy. Short walk to the public carpark where we could use the cottage parking permit. Easy to park on the doorstep temporarily to drop suitcases etc. Lovely harbour, great walks nearby, shops close by and fabulous takeaways. We have already recommended it to others.
Andrea
Warm, cosy cottage perfect for a getaway. Well equipped, clean and a perfect location for town's restaurants and beach walks. We will return xx
Fantastic location, contact with the owner was spot on, nice cottage, ideally could do with a mat at the back door.
Property was in good location and good base, thought it was good value and suited us well. Had to park a couple minute walk away but that was fine and not an issue at all.
Michelle
Beautiful cottage in a perfect place.
Nichola
Good sized property in a great location.
Anthony
Great location lovely cottage
A beautiful quiet cottage in an excellent location. We had a really lovely stay . Dont be put off by the no parking outside, as theres a permit for the public car park a 5 minute walk away, which you can use in various car parks up and down. Seahouses is a great base for exploring although the beaches on your doorstep are superb.
Graham
A lovely cottage in an excellent location. 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Plenty to see and do in the area nice walks, boat trips and local pubs to visit. Or just sit by the harbour and relax with fish & chips or an ice cream .... or have both ... you're on your holidays! I will definitely return to Fishermans cottage. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.
Our 3rd visit. Lovely spacious cottage, comfy beds,we find the settees a little soft but not detured us from 3 visits .nice to have a parking disc left.thank you.just a short stroll from the harbour .we would always stay here when coming to seahouses.biscuits and milk a nice touch.
Caerys
We absolutely loved our stay at Fisherman's Cottage. ..the location is superb! Just 23 minute walk to the sea & 5 min to town with its lovely little independent shops & delis & lots of places to eat & drink. We took the boat over to the Farne Islands & saw puffins, seals & a whole host of sea birds with our very knowledgeable guides. We walked to Beadnell & Bamburgh on the coast path & took short drives to Holy Island, Alnwick & Cragside. You can't park outside the cottage but we unloaded & loaded there then parked in the main town car park using our free pass which we used on every trip we made! so don't let that put you off! Every day we came back to the comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage that we would absolutely return too. Fabulous.
This was our second year running at the Fishermans Cottage. We used it as a base for our walking, of which this coastline and surrounding area are fantastic for. The cottage is comfortable, clean and very homely. You have all the facilities you need, everything is well presented and the added bonus of a parking permit which allows you free parking in the town centre car park. All the shops, pubs and restaurants and the boat harbour are within a 5 minute walk. I thoroughly recommend the Bamburgh castle pub, the kippers from the smokehouse just around the corner and a boat ride to the Farne Islands from the harbour.
Lianne
Perfect holiday home! No faults at all. We will be returning. The parking is not ideal and might put some people off but please dont let it. The main car park is only a short walk and you are able to unload and pack up car in street no bother.
Steven
Fishermans Cottage is a lovely, cosy place to stay. Well equipped with comfortable furnishings and beds. Its in the old part of Seahouses, so no outside space not an issue in winter and no parking but you can unload and theres a parking permit for the main carpark. Would recommend and would stay again.
Comfortable clean and cosy cottage close to the town centre and seafront. Big plus was the parking permit.
