Flints Cottage Reviews

A lovely cottage in the heart of Richmond. Plenty of space and every comfort provided for. Everything is good quality and the hot tub was perfect after a days walking. Would definitely recommend and will look to come back soon.
Had a lovely 4 night stay at Flints Cottage. Beds, comfy. Cottage had everything we needed. Perfect location for walking to town. House stayed lovely and cool, which was welcomed in this heatwave. Jenny was quick to reply when we had a question with the hot tub and handyman Mark was straight on hand to support. Agree stairs are steep for anyone with mobility issues but we found them ok and kept us fit.

We had a wonderful stay at Flints Cottage in Richmond. The cottage was beautifully presented, extremely clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. Every detail has clearly been thought about, especially the well equipped kitchen. The location was perfect, within 5 minutes walk into the centre wheres theres plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. Lovely walks on the doorstop too. Even thought the cottage doesnt have it own parking, we always found a parking space less than a minute away from the cottage. Theres a lovely cafe a minute away from the cottage called Greyfriars, Im sure a lot of people wouldnt have noticed it as it part of a residential complex. Outstanding breakfast, clean and staff extremely friendly. Jenny the owner is the perfect host, we left a couple of items behind which will be posted back in the next couple of days. Normally these items would be thrown away. Will definitely book again.
What an absolutely fantastic cottage, we fell in love with it from the moment we stepped through the front door. As it was the beginning of May, we were lucky enough for the aga to still be on, which was a really fun experience to cook with. A very well appointed Kitchen with most things you would need. Comfy beds all round, lots of space and a fantastic hot tub. The host was very prompt with replys, so we felt very looked after. Can't wait to come back!

Flints Cottage is in the perfect location with everything you need just a few minutes walk away. I was perhaps a little concerned about parking not being at the property but this concern was unfounded we always managed to get a space on Frenchgate which is literally 15 steps away. The cottage had everything we needed and felt like a home from home with all the equipment you need for cooking etc already there. Everything was clean. This is probably the best cottage we have stayed in and the photos don't do it justice normally it is the other way round! If I had one piece of constructive feedback it would be that the family board games are looking a bit tired and some have pieces missing so would have been good to have more choice. But we really enjoyed this stay, particularly walking the Easby Loop which is a nice 3 mile walk with some abbey ruins and an amazing cafe enroute served from a caravan incredible food! Definitely recommend this cottage and would visit Richmond again.
Just returned from a lovely stay at Flints Cottage. The kitchen amenities we're plentiful, had everything we needed, sadly we had no experience of using an Aga but it helped to warm plates and serving bowls. The bedrooms were good sizes and the master suit really lovely, nice little ensuite and shower was perfect. We had lunch at The Little Drummer Boy tea room and it was very good, took away some homemade cakes for afters. We also ate Sunday lunch at the Town Hall pub which was good and handy to walk to. We had a nice walk up to The Station and visited the bakery and sweet shop in there, we didn't eat at the cafe but it looked good. The hot tub was perfect, only feedback would be to provide a canopy or parasol, as we visited in January the weather can be very unpredictable and it rained for 2 days over the weekend, I appreciate it's wet in the hot tub but we don't all want our hair soaked through or drinks watered down. The log burner was lovely but we were great on lighting a fire so once the starter kit ran out we were dependant on the central heating, i wasn't keep on this been controlled remotely, i appreciate that we could use the 30 min boost but if you want the heating to stay on longer you have to keep boosting it. I have never stayed in a property were we didn't have control of the heating ourselves. I contacted the owner on the Saturday morning and she responded immediately and adjusted the heating for us. Thank you for the cake, milk and teacoffee making facilities inc biscuits, its a lovely touch. I also liked that hand soap was available in the bathroomtoilet and kitchen, not all cottages provide this.

We booked Flints Cottage for a Christmas break. It was wonderful, very cosy and inviting complete with Christmas tree. Within short walking distance of shops. Lovely friendly village. Cannot fault would definitely book again.
Dorinda
Beautiful cottage but need updating and a deep clean, location spot on everything you need shops pub restaurant absolutely lovely.
The cottage exceeded our expectations and hopes. Extremely characterful, charming and quirky but suprising functional. Superbly equipped, comfortable, welcoming and cosy. Doggy perfect, larger than anticipated but beautifully presented, and the location couldnt be surpassed. Possibly best cottage weve ever booked would certainly return. Full marks and added bonus love the hot tub, all in all absolutely perfect.

This is the second time we have stayed at Flints Cottage. We love the area of Richmond with all its charm and fantastic walks. The cottage is really clean and a great location for North Yorkshire and all its countryside. We have 2 children and 2 dogs so theres plenty of room for the family and the kids loved the hot tub. Thank you for another lovely stay.
Lovely cottage it had everything you could want. Enjoyed the upstairs enclosed garden. Comfy sofas which we have found is often lacking in other cottages.

We all loved our stay here. It met all the usual expectations and more Also it was the extra expressions of welcome with tea coffee biscuits and a cake that made all the difference. The kitchen is very well equipped, and what we like is the fact that the utensils and plates were for more than 6 people which you woud normally see at other rentals In fact there were enough to service 12 people . Bath towels were of 5 hotel quality The downstairs is air conditioned which you would not normally see in an old English house. This was greatly welcome especially when we were there the UK had a heat wave.We would recommend to anyone except someone who didn't like manage stairs. They were part of the charm of the house. We did not use the hot tub but it was working and big. Your web site does not do your cottage justice! Your cottage is more beautiful than the what is shown on the web site. Incidentally it's only 10 minutes walk to the market square. Only complaint is that directionsto the cottage is not clear .Fortunately your neighbour was so gracious direct us to the right direction and help us with the parking.
The property overall was beautifully furnished, with comfortable bed and lovely and clean. Its in a great location, so close to Richmond. Ideal for a family holiday. The stairs are incredibly steep, which we found very difficult and would benefit from another small hand rail at the top of the stairs. The hot tub was lovely and the garden was great for the dogs. Overall a lovely stay.
Lovely stay at Flints cottage. It was actually better than the photos. Very central for exploring Richmond town and the castle, but also great location for visiting Aysgarth falls & Forbidden corner as well as the chocolate factory. There are some lovely restaurants locally. We had a fantastic time & the hot tub and snug were amazing after a day out. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Second stay at this cottage. Comfy, well equipped and in great location.
What a lovely quirky cottage. Very warm and inviting with everything we needed. Loved the hot tub, garden room and garden. So nicely done with attention to detail, very clean, tidy and organised. Logs for the fire, the milk in the fridge and the cake was a lovely touch too. Just one small item to mention and thats the toilet seat in the downstairs loo is very loose. We had a lovely weekend break and would highly recommend. Thank you.

The cottage was absolutely perfect in every way!

My sister and I have just had 3 nights at Flints cottage. We had a fabulous time. A beautiful comfy, cosy place with everything we needed. Perfect position to not have to get back in the car before we left for home. Loved the aga and the hot tub! We would highly recommend, although be warned the stairs are steep!!
Rachel
Very comfortable bed we slept brilliant the hot tub was amazing the walks from the door step were fantastic we absolutely loved our stay we had a lovely 4night break with our 2 dogs. .. the only negative was the kettle we couldn't use it as it was filled with limescale but we just used the brilliant coffee machine or boiled water on the hob
Our stay at Flints Cottage was wonderful. A charming and beautifully decorated cottage with all the amenities we needed. Glorious kitchen, cosy sitting room with log burner, charming dining area and a private back garden with a heavenly hot tub. Location is great close to the town centre. Parking could be in busy seasons tricky but we managed to get close with too much difficulty. Richmond is a charming town but be warned it's hilly! However this does afford you Incredible views and vantage points. We did have a minor problem with a sticking front door handle but it was swiftly fixed by the lively caretaker and our owner Jenny sent an unexpected but much appreciated gift by way of apology. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay Jenny.
Perfect for a relaxing stay. It is well facilitated, I especially loved the selection of films and books. The hot tub is well situated in a private garden. There is no parking outside the property but we were able to park up on fleet terrace. The cottage is a 10 minute walk away from the centre of Richmond, which has a variety of shops, pubs, cafes and walks. Thank you to the owner for a lovely stay and cake and milk
Vanessa
We stayed in Flints Cottage over New Year and would highly recommend it. It's a lovely characterful cottage but with all modern conveniences. It is very well situated, with only a short walk into Richmond where there are loads of bars and restaurants. There is no private parking but on street parking was easy to find. The wood burner made the cottage cosy and the hot tub was great. Instructions for the oven and the TV remote would have been useful. The stairs and the climb in and out of the bath will be an issue if you have mobility problems. We would love to return.
Really like the property and location ive stayed a couple of times before and will certainly be back. Unfortunately the hot tub was faulty all week despite the owners best efforts to arrange repair. This was obviously quite disappointing
Loved the cottage. Quirky and comfy. Facilities excellent. Everything you would need. Had a lovely week weather wise. In September it is a little cold on a night without the burner on but the burner made it perfect. Parking in Frenchgate not a problem. Jenny, thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. No visitors book to thank you. Would definitely return. Nesta the Bedlington Terrier loved the cottage and Richmond. Especially the squirrels and the pubs
Lovely cottage in a great location, very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Over bath shower not ideal but perfectly adequate. Hot tub was excellent for 4 adults 10pm curfew and enclosed garden great for our 2 dogs. No problem parking and just a short walk to the town square or to Lidl or a riverside walk to Easby Abbey. All in all a great stay thanks
Lovely cottage however could do with more information regarding the hot tub and dishwasher. Plenty of cooking utensils and love the welcome pack. The cottage is lovely and quite at night. We all had a great holiday in Richmond and Flint Cottage. Thank you
Rachel
This was our second time at Flints Cottage and we still love it. Its so quirky and homely. Lovely and convenient for the river and the shops. Good amount of kitchen equipment, games, DVDs and books. A lovely touch to find milk and cake in the fridge plus a stocked coffee machine. The hottub in the peaceful sunny back garden creates a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. We hope to be back again.

We had a lovely stay at flints cottage, the only down side ,it was quite dusty, there was dust on book case, bed side units where quite bad ,a thick cob web from unit to bed, the hoover doesnt work. But apart from that, great location to town . We would revisit. We did have a visit from the maintance man reguarding some issues, but the complaint hadn't come from us, these should have been dealt with before we arrived.
Lovely quaint cottage but could of done with a few more explanations on the ... Lovely quaint cottage but could of done with a few more explanations on the workings of equipment as had problems with dish washer and television apart from that lovely location
Vanessa
Excellent cottage with modern facilities. I loved the hot tub, back garden and the small sun room. Thank you for the cake and milk, they were very welcome. On street parking but very easy to park as there are no restrictions in the 2 areas recommended. Very short walk into Richmond where there are loads of pubs and restaurants. The Ship Inn is only a few minutes walk away. There were no tea towels. I know there was a dishwasher but sometimes it is easier to just wash a small amount of dishes. No instructions about the heating which kept coming on and not really needed in the summer. Could save the hosts some money on their bills if it could be turned off. Onoff button on TV remote not working. The steep stairs and climb in and out of the over bath shower make this property difficult for people with mobility problems but apart from that it was perfect. Will be back.
The cottage is really welcoming and was perfect for me and my family. The stairs were a bit steep for my mum but was fine once she got used to them. The downstairs toilet helps. The hot tub my children loved, and was one of the reasons we booked the cottage initially. The location was ideal for my parents who struggle to walk very long distances. It was a lovely walk into the town and local highlights like the church, river and castle. Great that dogs are welcome and the enclosed garden is ideal for them. We would definitely book again.
Fabulous location and accomodation. Just one or 2 maintenance bits to be sorted but really didnt affect overall stay....
Very minor points it would have been great to have more mirrors upstairs in the bedrooms, and we couldn't find a sponge to wash up with! Otherwise we had an absolutely fabulous time, hated to leave and would love to come back. Apologies for the forgotten food and drink we were halfway down the M1 before we realised we hadn't grabbed them...
We absolutely loved our stay at Flint's cottage. It's the most well equipped cottage we've ever stayed at. Location is great, only a short walk from the centre. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage is very spacious and cosy. We would definitely return.
Rachel
We had such a lovely time on our holiday. We love Richmond so much. My Grandparents used to live there for years. They recently moved to a lovely care home in Eaglescliffe. This cottage felt like a home from home with the fabulous bonus of a hot tub! Beautiful Garden, functional kitchen, plenty of space. Wed love to stay there again.
