Harbour Hideaway Reviews

We've stayed at this property several times and hope to come up again next year. Ideal location and so close to the town.
Unfortunately the property and its exterior is generally in need of better cleaning and maintenance. The skirtings, stair carpet and walls all quite grubby. I reported major issues to the owner Emily. These included leaking bath and sink and very squeaky and unstable bunk beds. The water was very slow draining in the bath, so we used some drain cleaner which resulted in all the sludge from the drain pipe coming back up into the bath and did not much improve the drainage. The back stairs and bin area was very untidy. The owner has obviously fitted the house tastefully, some items now dirty, worn and suffering from wear and tear. Better maintenance and cleaning is generally required at this property.

Just a short walk into town, this property is in an excellent location . The surrounding area is very quiet meaning no night time or traffic noise. The house was clean and warm and the kitchen was wellappointed. Bedrooms were cosy. Some slight maintenance needed at the property with a spot of paint needed here and there. However, this certainly did not impact our stay, nor would it stop us from booking again.

Slightly disappointed, not up to the standard expected for a 4 rating. A warm, spacious property with a good kitchen, off road parking and close proximity to the town, however let down by its overall condition. The untidyweedy garden, unsafe railings to the front steps, peeling paint in the hallway and sitting room and faulty curtain rail didn't make for a good first impression. The house is in need of some maintenance and redecoration throughout and comments from previous guests online and guest book need to be addressed. Tired bed linen, towels and soft furnishings could be replaced and for a 4 property we'd expect to find a hand towel in the downstairs cloakroom, a tea towel and washing up liquid in the kitchen noting there were some dishwasher tablets, and a pint of milk in the fridge would have been a nice touch. Whilst the off road parking is a real advantage for a property in Whity due to on street parking opposite, we could only get one car safely in the parking space rather than the 2 advertised. Whilst we had an enjoyable stay we personally wouldn't return to Harbour Hideaway in its current condition.
Short 4 day break with all the family, Location spot on, Parking a brilliant asset. Children safe and secure. Everyone enjoyed the stay. A couple of problems were quickly put right, owner kept us informed throughout. Although quite pricey, would return.

We enjoyed our stay here. Furnishings lovely. Although there are some jobs that need sorting. Washing machine not not working properly. Toilet seat on top floor seriously needs sorting as very wobbly. There are no locks on bathroom doors. The parking isn't great. Not told it might be difficult to park two large cars until the week before we went. There was no parking available on the roadside all week & it was really difficult trying to manoeuvre two large cars on the driveway with the cars parked opposite. Meant we couldn't move the cars to visit other places. The garden needs a serious tidy up. Very scruffy. The back yard could be made lovely but looks a mess.

We were very happy with our stay. The house was comfortable and well located. As we had entered through the front door, we did not realise that the outer back gate key was in a second key box in the lane and only found it after walking round to the bins on the last day, so this could be made clear in the instructions.

Spotlessly clean , perfect directions to property, excellent situation close to town and all facilities with the benefits of off road parking for 2 cars . Which in whitby is not common.
It was a lovely house with with good sized rooms. Well furnished, good central heating. Could have done with a Kitchen Utensil set and bathroom needed skirting board behind loo cleaning. On our arrival we found the only pan set was very rusty inside the pans. I texted one of the numbers on our paperwork and the gentleman arranged for a quick delivery of very nice stainless steel pans delivery a couple of days later. He also provided quick answers to any questions. One thing I did not like.. when we stripped the beds we found that the back bedroom Mattress Protector was badly stained. Otherwise a brilliant week and in a really nice house. Walking distance to the centre and the hill soon became easier to climb. Took a trip to Scarborough and one to Bridlington. Plenty of shops and supermarkets a short drive from the house.

We had a lovely five day stay here recently. A beautiful house which accommodated four adults, one child and two dogs very easily. The beds were so very comfortable the dining room was big enough for us all and the kitchen was well equipped. Only a short downhill walk into Whitby which was lovely at night time. Access may be tricky for those with mobility issues as a lot of stairs but thats clear on the description. Parking was a huge bonus but its a busy little street so Id advise reversing into the spaces. A few things could have improved our stay toilet seats were all wobbly and not secure missing parts on a bedroom door mechanism a gate at the top or bottom of the garden steps would make it secure for dogs and children the welcome information book was missing Thank you for sharing your house with us xx
We had a lovely stay at the harbour hideaway! Fully equipped kitchen and some extras like board games and a fab list of local pubs left for us. Some of the toilet seats are wobbly and slide around, but other than that the house was great! Would definitely come again. Thank you
Denise
Thank you for our stay would like to point out a few things the toilet seats all need attention they are not good at all . One bedroom door does not shut correctly as the mechanism has been completely removed. A lock on the bathroom door would be good especially when you go with friends. The property could benefit from a deep clean windows in lounge especially inside their was some socks in front garden to left of window the rear yard is not in a good state sorry I sound slightly negative over certain things but I feel the owner should be aware of this thank you Denise

Lovely spacious and clean property close to multiple amenities, fish and chip shop and dog friendly pub literally around the corner and 10 minutes walk into town centre and train station. If I had a few niggles with the property I would just suggest a Welcome Pack, explaining where items are kept vacuum, ironing board, fire safety equipment etc when the bin collection date is had to google that one. And how appliances Also maybe a few more pots and pans, we liked to cook breakfasts most mornings and for 5 people didnt feel like there was enough cooking equipment plenty of crockery and cutlery items though Overall a lovely stay and would love to return at a later date.
Really lovely holiday let. Wanted for nothing. Would recommend.
Lovely house, well furnished and really clean. The kitchen Wes really well equipped for up to 8 people. We would love to go back
Beverley
A spacious property that suited the family well. It is a short walk to the centre of Whitby so, we parked up and left the car on the off road parking for the duration.

A really lovely house which was exactly as described. It had everything we needed and having parking for two cars was a bonus. It was also in a great location being a few minutes walk from the railway station and town. We really enjoyed our week in Whitby and were extremely lucky with the weather. The beds were very comfortable and we all managed to sleep well. The kitchen was well equipped, also there was plenty of room for the whole family to eat together and plenty of seats in the living room.
A lovely house in a great location for our extended family party. Easy walking distance to all amenities, restaurants, transport etc. Parking places a real bonus. Emily the owner was very helpful. A great week in a beautiful place.
Michael
Roomy, warm, nicely furnished and comfortable. Great location. We really enjoyed our stay.
Great location. The house is bigger than it looks on the picture, easily accommodated 6 of us. Very good communication from the owner.
This is a lovely spacious house in an excellent position. Close to town centre and all amenities and transport. There are two car parking spaces. A real bonus. There is everything you need in the house to enable you to have a good stay. We had a lovely time and cant wait to come back. Thank you
Harbour Hideaway is a lovely spacious holiday home and we had a fabulous family break staying there. The holiday home had everything that we needed, it was clean well kept and far exceeded our expectations. Thank you.
It was a lovely house in a good location close to the town centre with parking. The house was decorated to a very high standard, was very comfortable and there was plenty of space for our party of 4.
Barbara
The holiday property was in a pristine condition very comfy beds with lovely fixtures and fittings throughout. Everything we needed and more was provided. We couldnt have asked for a better weekend retreat. We will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends. Our party varies from 8 to 70 years of age and it suited us all. Love it ! Thank you.
