Jay Cottage Reviews

We had a great week at Jay Cottage. Very peaceful area a little further from Weymouth than we expected so we made use of the excellent bus service for our trips into the town. Very well equipped property and the welcome pack was really appreciated. One minor gripe the back lawn could have done with a mow before our arrival.
Great stay again. Stones throw from Chesil beach, lovely walk for the dog. On a good bus route into Weymouth. We'll equipped kitchen. A few improvements to the stairs and bathroom has made it very user friendly for anyone with mobility problems, much appreciated. Managed to see a lot more of Dorset, some fabulous villages and beaches. Will be back again.

This is the second time we stayed at the property, it is in a good location for visiting Portland and the local marinas. The property itself did have a few chip marks this time and needs repainting in places. We also wanted to point out the next door neighbour could be the owner of this property has a camera dangling down from their back window not sure if it is pointed to be nosey and to keep an eye on this property or if it is for next door, for their garden. Either way little dodgy. The house in itself suited us, good size, tidy rooms upstairs, clean and little secure enclosed garden providing your dog doesnt like jumping short fences. The kitchen was equipped but could of done with some more oven trays and perhaps some Foil to cook in. Parking there are 2 spaces, one at the front not a dropped kerb and the one at the back small, so we mainly parked at the front. Its a quiet residential area so a good place to get some rest. Overall, good accommodation, just needs a few little touch ups and speaking to next door if they arent the owner to address the camera positioning.

A bit more information about the beach just 15 minutes walk would be nice as we found it by mistake on Thursday . Think its called little mouth bay .

Had an amazing stay in Weymouth at this house. Lovely property and very convenient parking. Great location and it was perfect for our little old terrier. Property was well equipped and was very clean. Lovely hosts who had prepared the property beautifully for our arrival. Thank you, will definitely be staying again!
Jay cottage was a lovely welcoming comfortable house. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the bottle of wine was a lovely touch! The location is ideal if you have a dog. The views on my morning dog walk over the harbour towards Portland were stunning. You are right on the Rodwell Trail which is the old railway line ideal for walks either towards Weymouth or Portland. We did find the rear parking space a bit tight my husbands car couldnt fit and the front parking space has no dropped kerb but apart from that cannot fault it we had a lovely time

Exceptional cleaner accommodation. Everything we needed was supplied. Unfortunately one bedroom door would not close and could not get radiator in the other bedroom on. Would definitely recommend it.
We really enjoyed staying at Jay Cottage. The gifts of milk, wine and biscuits were appreciated, as were all the other extras that were supplied. They had thought of everything, even reuseable shopping bags, beach towels and doggy bags!
We had yet another lovely week at Jay Cottage our Dorset home from home. We book the property every year and it's never failed to disappoint. The accommodation is perfect for our needs as a couple with a dog. It's such a pleasure to be able to make a short walk to the beach, then also be able to get out and about so easily from the property.
Jay Cottage was an ideal base to explore Weymouth and Portland. Beautiful coastal walk just minutes from the property which our dogs loved as it ended on a small dog friendly beach with breataking views of rhe coastline. Jay Cottage is clean and comfortable with everything you need for a stay away. The host left milk, biscuits and wine for when we arrived which was very welcomed.

Property was fabulous. Parking on driveway or to rear of the property. House is a small 2 bed property, worked well for 2 adults and a dog. Neighbours both sides are locals and are very quiet friendly. Small gated garden with outside furniture to use if weather allows. Bedroom comfy Bathroom good. Lounge equipped with games and tv. Kitchen small but has everything you need including condiments and complimentary milk on arrival with biscuits and a bottle of wine if you drink. Also a washing machine handy if you have any accidents when eating inout, you can wash your clothes right away. No dishwasher just the standard bowl and washing up to use like the good old days. There is a neighbour across the road on hand to help with any questions worries. Easy access to local beaches, shops. Walks aplenty around the area. We are already looking to come back next year, suited us down to the ground.
We had a wonderful week staying at Jay Cottage. The cottage immediately felt like home. The added touch of wine biscuits and milk was very welcome. The cottage was beautifully presented and its location made it the perfect place to stay. Would love to come and visit again
Really clean , well maintained, managed holiday let . Many Thanks

Lovely comfy accommodation, a real home from home. Great location near to all the local attractions. We felt the owner had really thought about everything that you need for a relaxing break. The welcome goodies were much appreciated and the parking facilities meant we could safely leave our car to enjoy the walks.
Myself my husband and grandson had an amazing holiday this year at Jays, everything we could want was there, a short walk to a lovely sandy cove where my grandson learnt to swim ! ! My Luna, dog totally loved her holiday also, loving the beach and the garden at the house. Cleanliness was 100 couldn't find fault at all from the floors, bedding and whole house, !! We will be booking again if you'll have us once we know our work holiday dates, thankyou to all that made our holiday perfect ! Xxx

Really good location and property is in a quiet road with off street parking available. Property is very clean and welcoming.
A lovely terraced house in a quiet location just a short walk from the sea. The owner provided everything for self catering, including a bottle of wine. A stroll along the Rodwell Trail takes you to two small beaches and further on into Weymouth, though we never made it past the cafe and gardens! Beds and sofas were comfortable, nice new garden chairs and table which we enjoyed in the afternoon sunshine. An excellent choice for us and our four legged friend.
Bernice
We really enjoyed our week at Jay cottage, it was clean, in a good position for Portland and Weymouth. It was nice to be able to walk our dog down to the sea in the morning and to know he was secure in the garden. Parking is at the top of my list when booking and it was easy here. We loved our week and we have it on our list to return.
We stayed with my sister in law, who is very fussy and she declared that the house was immaculate, and she could not find any fault which is a first. The house was a lovely place to stay and with easy access to visit other places. We would highly recommend it
Stephen
Cosy house in a great location and very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. Very comfortable beds with good quality bed linen and plentiful towels. Only very minor issues we found were that some of the internal doors were squeaky and could do with some lubrication. Bedside light bulbs in second bedroom not working. We enjoyed our week at Jay cottage very much and would not hesitate to stay again.
Samantha
Fab little cottage in a prime place for the Rodwell Trail with a lovely walk in to Weymouth! The cottage is well equipped with everything you need and there are plenty of books and games too. The beds are so comfortable you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. The garden is enclosed so your fur baby should be safe wandering about. Not a huge garden but it is fully enclosed which was great! The is a lovely pub about 15 mins walk from the cottage along a busy main road and well worth a visit! There is also local convenience stores and a Tesco Express opposite the pub along with some takeaways Chinese, fish & chips. The owner of the cottage was very helpful and responded to my emails quickly. We would definitely go back!
We came back to Jay Cottage for a second time this October as we enjoyed it so much last year! It's so convenient for the beach, walking and access to buses to get out and about. Oscar the dog was very at home again, and we'd certainly look to return in future.
Caroline
Really enjoyed our stay it was a lovely area will be back next year
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. We have had a brilliant holiday the best in England Infant. Everything you could wish for. Comforts, scenery, sea view and beach 2 mins walk. Loads to do like boat trips, lovely walks, crabbing was fun and cant forget the fish n chips and ice cream. Everything you need is there supermarket 10 mins drive, weymouth is a lovely town centre where you can pick up gifts and treat yourselves. Make sure you leave enough room in car to bring everything back! House itself has everything from bedding to towels to treats left from owners I would highly recommend it to everyone but please leave us a week or two to book next year. Thank you for the best holiday ever.
Rebecca

Lovely cottage on the outskirts of Weymouth, very clean, comfortable with modern facilities and in a quiet location. About a 2 minute walk to the shoreline and 30 minutes into town via a pedestrianised pathway. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Weymouth and the cottage and the pair of us would happily stay here again.
Sheila
The house was spotless, The welcome pack was a lovely thought and the bedding and towels were of the best quality. The heating was easy to change and very welcoming a couple of days. The area the house is situated is residential and very quiet and an easy drive to numerous places. Hope to return this year if not next year. Would definitely recommend property. Sheila and Bob Pursglove
We had a very enjoyable few days in this very clean, comfortable, warm, well equipped house. BUT, when we booked a walk in shower was paramount, and indeed was detailed as one of the facilities. Soon after booking we were informed that the walkin shower had been removed and replaced with a bath with shower over. Hm!! Not good, very inconvenient. I notice that on the website the narrative has been changed but the images still show a very nice walkin shower. Nevertheless, the house is well located for the Rodmell Trail, good dining venues and access to the principle places of interest. Recommended.
Very well equipped , super clean , warm and nicely situated . Very comfortable bed and suite.
An excellent location to explore the Jurassic Coast. Easy parking and good internet connection. Nice hot shower. The place was clean and tidy and we enjoyed our stay there. We were here during the start of the cold spell in March and the heating did struggle to keep the house warm but were also reluctant to leave the oil heater on for any length of time because of energy costs. Good to see plenty of recycling going on. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are only about thirty minutes away.
Found the house very cold especially after a day out with the grandchildren heating set really low didn't find it comftable or welcoming just very basic kitchen wasn't particularly clean cups had stains in cupboards needed good clean and something splashed all over the mirror in there inconvenient to open table and bring chairs in from lounge no radiator on in small bedroom so cold in there and what can I say about the floorboards upstairs ! ! Plus my dog wasn't impressed by the lack of rug downstairs on a slippery floor also garden we felt was bit of a hazard
Rosalind
We had an enjoyable stay at Jay cottage. Had fun feeding the garden birds, even rearranged the feeders as the pigeons had learned a trick of emptying the feeders. A useful local shop and bus service were close by.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jay Cottage. It was great to be so near to the sea, and we were comfortable and cosy. Oscar the dog was very happy, too! We'd certainly book again.
