Meadow Syke Byre Reviews

Claire
Lovely stay, perfect for the two of us & our dog. The views from the hot tub after a day's walking was a perfect finish to the day. It was nice to have Ruth our host meet us on arrival & show us all we needed to know. Had a nice meal in the village pub, everyone was so welcoming. Will definitely return.
Alison
The host was very welcoming. We arrived during a very warm spell and the accommodation was very warm especially upstairs. There was only a small window and not much air, a fan might have helped. Small things stopped this being a 5 star review. Chipped plate, dusty lampshades in bedroom and plants in bathroom. Also being asked to pay 50 extra to use the hot tub cleaning fee .
Met a the cottage by ruth on arrival, very pleasant lady who showed us around and answered any questions we had. Accommodation was perfect for use. Tucked away up a lane, a very peaceful and buitiful spot. Everything from a toaster to a hot tub. We wanted for nothing. Buitiful senary and a comfortable bed. Didn't want to leave. If we come back to the lake district , we will be staying here.
Just love the place going back in July
The cottage was beautiful with lots of lovely features. Big bathroom and bedroom with super comfy pillows and bed, Under floor heating was especially welcome in the snowy weather whilst we were there. Always warm & cozy. There are fields for your fur babies to play right outside your door and all fenced off so they cant escape, The cottage had every amenity for you and your fur babies. They even had their own dog wash with warm water. Plenty of dog towels too. Our host, Ruth was lovely and very welcoming. She was a wealth of information too. Would definitely go back . Would be lovely to go in the spring and repeat the amazing scenic walks we did. The waterfalls were beautiful as was the walk around Haweswater reservoir. So many beautiful walks. We dined at The Secret Garden one evening and the food was just delicious, We stayed 4 nights but could easily have stayed longer. Definitely five stars!

We had a lovely stay at Meadow Syke Byre. The cottage was clean, cosy and well equipped, with a peaceful setting that was perfect for a relaxing break. Great location for exploring the Lake District, and everything was easy from checkin to checkout. Would definitely recommend.

This cottage is something else Absolutely stunning little place to stay with all amenities to hand within the cottage. The views are breathtaking with lots if walks and 34 miles to Askham where there are 2 welcoming local pubs. We enjoyed visiting Pooley Bridge and Bampton and wish we could have spent a bit longer there. Ruth the owner was lovely and nothing too much trouble. Its pet friendly and the Hot Tub was a great addition on a cold stary night. I would 100 recommend this place to anyone especially if you want to escape the hussle and Bussle of daily life. Thank you x

Just stunning! Beautiful views, peaceful and quiet. immaculate accommodation, beautifully maintained. The bed was one of the most comfortable Ive slept in! Hot tub on a cold November night was amazing. Our host Ruth was lovely. Absolutely nothing to complain about.
This is our second stay here after visiting last year. It is so peaceful and serene, lots of red squirrels around. If you want to recharge and get away from the stresses of daily life, enjoy the countryside and fresh air then this is the place to be. The accommodation itself is of such a high standard, clean, warm and cosy and the hot tub makes it extra special. As usual we didn't want to leave and our four day break went far too fast. Plenty to do walks from the cottage or Haweswater lake a highlight along with Lowther castle and gardens and even a trip to the chocolate shop in Carlisle this time. The food at the Mardale Inn comes highly recommended. We will be coming back next year ! Thank you again to Ruth who is a wonderful host.
Ruth is a fantastic host we stayed in The Byre their one bed property and I have to stay the work they have done is an absolute credit to them. No corners have been cut, they have created a fabulous experience for their guests. The property was very clean, well presented, with everything provided that you may need for a stay away the bed is exceptionally comfy! The location is simply perfect if you are wanting to escape the fast paced city centre and relax and unwind for some R&R. There are some great walks within either walking distance or a short drive we got a few more of the Wainwrights ticked off

Really lovely property, all the facilities were great, and really thoughtful touches. Beautiful location and very comfortable. Only challenges were the shower plug kept going down slow so had to go for quick showers, and would've been handy if there was an umbrella on site.
Exquisite A very comfortable and cozy base of operations from which to explore the Lake District. A warm welcome from our host as always nothing is ever too much trouble. Superb facilities in a serene location, far from the madding crowds ignoble strife

Perfect stay. We had a lovely relaxing time, everything we needed for ourselves and our cocker spaniel. The property was beautiful, modern and very clean. The amazingly large bed was so comfortable, fab shower and bathroom too. The hot tub was great where you could enjoy the peace, tranquility and stunning views. An added bonus was watching the red squirrels at the feeder! Ruth made us feel so welcome and was very helpful. We would love to come back!
Property was nice and clean on arrival, we had everything we needed ready for our one year old cot, highchair and we had a lovely time, our host Ruth was very accommodating and there are plenty of restaurants close by. My partner enjoyed the hot tub it was a highlight of our stay and the gorgeous views made it a great holiday!

Outstanding Property! Everything you need, spotlessly clean and well set out. Beautifully presented. A real haven. This was our second visit and Im sure we will return for a third!
What an amazing place. Nestled in the country but only about 8 miles from Penrith for all your shopping needs etc. The cottage is lovely, with bifold doors enabling the space to feel much bigger when the weather allows. Ruth couldn't have been more accommodating, being on hand for local recommendations and answering any questions we had. We would definately recommend this place and will probably visit again in the future.
Amazing property, was everything we needed. Ruth was great and helped us when we arrived. Good location with loads of things to do.
Kieran
Lovely property. Loved the tree creepers and red squirrels especially. Could consider adding landline phone for requesting a taxi mobile phone signal unreliable. Stunning views and warm hospitality. Would book again.
The best cottage we have stayed at. Amazing location, great facilities, very clean. Perfect space for the dog. Very warm welcome from ruth. Totally recommend to anyone.
Beautiful property in lovely location and Ruth couldn't have been more helpful. 10 out of 10. We will be back. Thank you Ruth. We made a couple of very minor suggestions but these did not detract in any way from our stay.
Absolutely perfect stay. The setting was beautiful and Ruth made us feel very welcome with loads of little extra touches around the byre. The hot tub was perfect watching the stars on a night and the red squirrel playing on a morning. Bampton the local town was lovely and again the locals were very friendly. We were sad to leave. This place is definitely a hidden gem and we cant wait to return
Nicola
Fantastic stay for New Year and my husbands birthday, a beautiful property, loved the personal touches like the body lotion and the Prosecco and mince pies. The bed was extremely comfy and the whole property was perfect, was sad to leave.
What a stunning barn conversion! Set amongst numerous acres of farmland, hot tub in the garden50 extra as described very well appointed, great bed & ensuite. Took our two Labradors who loved having free reign for us to walk them around the farmland no livestock on them Great laundry & dog washing facilities in close by barn with lots of dog towels to use. Loved spending Christmas week here, only downside was the link doorway to allow bigger parties to be joined in both adjoining barns allows all the conversation & noise through even though it was locked during our stay felt like we were in same room as their kids! Owners are looking at this issue we were told! Otherwise perfect! Stunning views, quiet & sooo dark it was unbelievable. Great base right on the edge of the lakes.
The welcome we had was wonderful and the cottage was so cosy and homely. The hot tub was also wonderful. Definitely recommend.
A lovely place to stay, very well kept and Ruth was very accommodating. I didnt read the whole listing properly and was taken aback a bit when I found out there was an extra charge if you want to use the hot tub. Personally I think that should be included in the total price. The surrounding field is perfect to let the dog roam on its own as its fenced. Theres plenty walks to go on if you wish. If you want to get a meal at the local pub then book it well in advance as its the only one within walking distance. Ruth provided a pint of milk and a bottle of wine on arrival as well as tea & coffee, biscuits. And some doggy treats. A fully stocked kitchen with all working appliances and pots and pans, glassware you name it, Even a dishwasher with tabs. Board games, playing cards and books are also inside. Theres a handy utility room with a dog wash to the side thats a lifesaver. The fact it is adjoining to the barn meant that when our neighbours got up from the table and moved their chairs they scraped them across the floor which happened frequently and disturbed our peace. They had children too that added to it and a dog that randomly barked. You can hear everything next door. All in all it was a great place to stay. I would definitely recommend and I would go back again. 4.5 5
Lovely cottages really enjoyed our stay
We had a fantastic weekend here at Meadow Syke Byre complete with hot tub in the most stunning, peaceful location. The property itself is immaculately clean, cosy and warm and there is nothing we were short off. It was so safe for our dogs and no gaps in the fences that we needed to worry about. Ruth the owner was very friendly and helpful. Wine and biscuits on arrival too
This Byre is stunning and Ruth the host couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. We would rate this 12 out of 10 for cleanliness and equipment views and the hot tub were a very fab addition watching the sunrise from the property in the hot tub was superb
The place was absolutely outstanding! Not one fault! Lovely and clean and exactly what we needed! Wish we had longer! The views were outstanding! Easy to find and a lovely welcome! Would highly recommended to anyone and we will be back!
Andrew
An absolutely stunning place, the level of quality on fixtures and fittings is high end. The cleanliness was excellent, with all accessories required available. The welcome from Ruth the owner was second to non. The cottage itself is set in lovely working farmland, and the views are wonderful, especially when viewed sat in the hot tub! One highlight worthy of a mention, is the visiting Red SquirrelSquirrels, a brilliant experience. This holiday cottage is high on our agenda, to visit again. We really didn't want to leave! Highly recommended.
Fantastic week away The property was lovely and clean The host was polite and friendly and came everyday to clean the hot tub She was always available when you needed her Couldnt recommend this place enough!
We absolutely loved our stay here for our first weekend away together! Ruth was an amazing host and was so helpful and understanding when we were running very late due to our car breaking down on the motorway from Leeds! The property itself is absolutely beautiful and Ruth has thought of everything to make it feel like home! The towel Swans on the bed were ace! The hot tub was amazing and we spent hours sat watching the stars and admiring the views. We will absolutely be booking to stay here again!
It was a truly lovely place to stay. The owner made everything really comfortable and was so helpful and welcoming. The barn was done to a beautiful standard and everything was so tasteful but with character. The hot tub was a pleasure from where you looked out at fantastic views. A peaceful location away from it all.
Thankyou for such an amazing stay. Your cottage is second to none. So peaceful but close to the local pub if needed for beautiful food and refreshments. Hot tub is tranquil, just sitting watching the views and red squirrel in the tree. The super king bed is a luxury and the large walk in shower is amazing. The cottage is spotlessly clean and modern with everything you need and more with local walks from the doorstep. Very dog friendly with secure dog fields all around and even a doggy barn with dog shower and towels for after your muddy walks. Also in the barn is washing machine and dryer if needed. Ruth the host is a lovely friendly, helpful lady whom is a phone all away if needed. We wouldnt hesitate to return to this beautiful place which is central for your visits around the lakes. Thankyou so much, we will be back x
Accommodation absolutely first class there is everything you could need. Absolutely spotlessly clean. Very welcoming host.
Absolutely exquisite! A superb base from which to explore the Lake District. Extremely comfortable and in a rural location which was as peaceful as it is beautiful. The attention to detail which Ruth has lavished on this sanctuary is second to none and to be envied by many a top end hotel.
