Minerva Reviews

A really interesting house with plenty of space and well equipped. Lovely balcony and sunroom with beautiful views of countryside. We were hoping to return for the Spring Bank holiday in 2027 but found it booked. Its great value for money as well. We had a very good holiday and if the weather had been bad we could have all had our own space. The only slight issue was the fridge being average size for so many people although theres a smaller fridge as well for drinks. Walking to the beach is fine. Definitely recommended Thanks
We had a wonderful stay! George was so helpful in advance with any questions I had. The house is brilliant for a family get together. Great views and lovely 10 min walk down to the beach
Darren
The house itself was lovely overall, and there were some genuinely positive aspects to our stay. We were allowed an early arrival at the property, which was very much appreciated given it was Christmas Eve. There were some thoughtful items left out for us on arrival, which was a nice touch. The location is a real highlight. The property benefits from splendid 360degree views, and there is a lovely walk directly to the main bay. The nearby pub, The Bay Inn, was very welcoming and dogfriendly, which made it even more enjoyable. That said, we did experience a number of issues during our stay. Firstly, the heating was set very low. We were advised it was on a timer, which is understandable however, when it did come on, it only produced minimal heat. This wasnt ideal for a December stay, and the house often felt cold both during the day and at night. The games room was disappointing for the children. The pool table didnt have enough balls to play properly, and the dartboard only had one usable dart. The beds werent the most comfortable, but having stayed in many similar properties, this is something Ive come to expect, so it wasnt a major issue for us. I had read several negative reviews regarding cleanliness prior to our stay. While there were a few minor issues such as some cutlery needing further cleaning we found the house generally acceptable. It wasnt spotless, but certainly not the worst weve stayed in. There were however some safety and maintenance concerns. The kitchen table had a broken and poorly repaired leg which was dangerous and should be removed or replaced. The hot tub was not maintained at all during our stay which was extremely disappointing. Even though we stayed over Christmas, we would have expected at least one maintenance visit on Boxing Day or the 27th. As this was a Christmas break, we were also surprised by the presentation of the property. There were two Christmas trees, both of which were in very poor barely dressed condition and detracted from the overall feel. Given the time of year, we would have expected the property to be dressed more thoughtfully, and in all honesty, it would have been better not to have put them up at all. Finally, no fire logs were left out for the main living room fire. We eventually found some in the cellar, but it wasnt clear whether guests were meant to access these. Overall, a property with real potential in a fantastic location, but several comfort, maintenance, and presentation issues particularly for a winter and Christmas stay that detracted from what could otherwise have been a great experience.
Beautiful views & peaceful location! Welcomed with a few extra treats, bara brith, welsh cakes tea bags and milk. Which was a kind gesture. Thought it was a little odd there was no basic condiments ie no salt, pepper, sugar .. The dishwasher tablet box was empty under the sink so we were left hand washing dishes. We encountered a few issues when we arrived at Minerva and spoke with Tony as instructed the property manager. As polite and friendly as he was, no disrespect intended, he was very vague and didnt appear to know much about the property layout ie where extra bedding towels were kept. The situation of extra keys. There was no extra camp bed left we were a party or 13. The extra duvets and pillows discovered in a box within the lounge area had earwigs crawling around the bottom so there was no way we were going to be utilising these! After several calls to Tony, he allowed us access to the garage extension the cleaner had left the pull out bed in here which is why it couldnt be intially found. Without the usage of the extension, our guests would not have sufficient beds with clean bug free! bedding. The outside decking area was a treat with the stunning views however the spindles and decking boards are looking extremely tired and could do with a refresh of varnish paint. There was also a musty stench in the room of 2 bunk beds. The lounge carpet smelt very doggy too and could perhaps do with a shampoo. We had a wonderful stay despite the above.
Paying 600 per night I expected better! Pool table was missing balls, tables pockets missing to balls fall onto the floor and the pool ques had no tips so useless. Two adults had to use the bedrooms with bunk beds, not good if you are over 56 and mattresses need replacing. I had to place the mattress on the floor. The dishwasher smelt and didnt clean the dishes very well. Apart from above, its located in a great place and hot tub was great
Christine
Sykes advertised as 5 bedrooms then couple of weeks before arrival asked for an extra 200 to access games room and 5th bedroom. Refused to pay as we had booked it as 5 bedrooms. On arrival owner honoured this. No travel cot but a new one was promptly delivered. Management company superb. Great house loads of space and things for the children. Loved Alexa and Spotify, generally a fab stay would recommend. If you are taking a toddler or crawling baby make sure there is a safety gate across the stairs down into the lounge. Our youngest grandchild isn't at the crawling stage yet so not a problem for us.
Beautiful home in a fantastic setting. Everything was perfect except for the duvet in the bedroom with the ensuite which was lumpy, noisy and too hot for the summer months. We therefore removed it from its cover it and slept with the cover only. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend

To Georgina and family x We're having an amazing time in your beautiful bungalow. It's absolutely perfectit has everything we need and more. There's so much space for everyone the younger members of our family can have their own area, and we can all chill out together. We really appreciated the personal touches, especially the cakes! They were such a treat. The view from the balcony is truly breathtaking. We're all fascinated by the cows and calves. As a veggie, I want to rescue them, haha! Don't worry, I won't. Your beautiful bungalow is just perfect. Thank you so much! From the McCann family xxx To Sykes cottages the only thing that needs amending is a later check out. Other than this it was perfect.
An extremely comfortable and family friendly property. We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary here with our three sons and their partners plus our four grandchildren and one dog. Everyone had a great time and made the best use of the games room and hot tub. The location was great for beach time and an easy stroll to the pubice cream parlour. One minor criticism would be the lack of access to the regular TV channels via an aerial to avoid the need to log on to the various internet accounts. That said TV wasn't high on the agenda. Many thanks once again to Georgina and depending on family commitments and availability we hope to be back again next year.

We stayed at the property to celebrate my 30th. George the host was incredibly helpful before we arrived and it felt like there was no task he wouldnt complete to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The house itself is the perfect hosting space. There was 10 of us in total but at no point did we feel on top of each other as the space was so great. We arrived when it was dark so waking up to the views in the morning was a gorgeous surprise! Would definitely recommend this property to any large groups who want a relaxing trip away!
We had a lovely stay at Minerva. The place had pretty much everything you could need. We arrived to find a lovely welcome pack in the amazing kitchen. Even the dogs had a welcome pack
A brilliant break with the extended family, the location was perfect just a short walk from Treaddur Bay. The accomodation was perfect, large enough for all to have space and children to enjoy themselves. I would certainly recommend this to friends and family and as it looks like I will be returning for a other run around the island in next year's Ring of Fire race... We will be looking to book this again.
This is the 2nd time at this acomodation. ..the house is very nice. Unfortunately. As with the first time we went the cleanlyness is poor. The bin is never cleaned the window sills are dirty. There's Mold in the shower and.bathroom and in the bedroom
A great sport, location was perfect and the house catered for our needs. We enjoyed the close by walks and local village for drinks. Rooms were comfortable however the only downside was no blinds in the bedrooms, most mornings woke up around sunrise and couldn't get back to sleep. All in all, a very enjoyable break and would definitely return to Minerva again.
Wow!!! Absolutely fantastic. There are 7 adults, 1 child and 1 dog in our family group and there is plenty of room to all enjoy together or alone if you need peace and quiet. The facilities were great, and everything worked. Plenty parking space, great childrens toys, loads of pots, pans, crockery etc. Such a lovely property with outstanding views. Thank you for a lovely place to stay.
Amazing holiday home for large families with children. Perfect area with plenty of things to do. The house is in a lovely spot with amazing views. 100 revisiting here in the future. Hosts were very generous aswell as we wanted to check out a bit later.
Andrew
The holiday cottage Minerva was super for our family Easter break. The living area was spacious and comfortable for everyone to spread out and enjoy and we had all the necessary equipment for family dining as well. The hot tub was super at the end of the day activities. Lovely views from the balcony and a nice peaceful location close enough to walk to the beach and amenities.
The camp bed was more like a deck chair, wouldn't of been comfy for anyone to sleep on, we had to use the sofa. No spare bedding for the extra people, or covers. Was a shame the conservatory was leaking alot of rain in, Apart from that great time thankyou
Had a fabulous week in this beautiful house. Gorgeous views from the back of the house we loved watching the sheep and rabbits.
Anthony
My family and I had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Minerva cottage. It was exactly what we were looking for in a home for our large family to live and relax, during our stay in beautiful Anglesey. It's a fantastic property with plenty of living space. It has great balcony for enjoying a morning coffee with beautiful coastal views or evening cocktails watching a gorgeous sunset. We made good use of the fully utilised kitchen and dining area. The adults thoroughly enjoyed the amazing hottub situated in the front garden area. The children loved the fully stocked games room, playing the games console or playing on the childrens snooker table aswell as reading books or playing with legos. This home is just perfect for a large group to feel together as a family or large enough for everyone to have space to relax apart, Just perfect.
Nicola
Lovely house. Beautiful views! Comfortable beds with quality bedding, everything there that you could want. Nice touch with the kids toys and books etc. Wheelie bin was full on arrival, but soon sorted after contact with the caretaker.
Amanda
Minerva is a beautiful property, unfortunately the cleanliness and general maintenance let's it down
William
A couple of glitches at the beginning of the holiday which were sorted our quickly I felt confident that any other problems there werent any would be treated in the same way. Thanks go to the owners and their staff for their prompt help. A lovely holiday home for our large family group and our three dogs. Fabulous views and really good access to all the beaches in the area. We had a great holiday at Minerva!
Firstly, Id like to say that Minerva is a lovely property in a great spot. However, there are issues. On arrival, one of the first things we had to do was pick up two dog poos off the balcony from the previous guests. We also found as the week went that the standard of cleanliness was poor throughout. Pots, pans, and plates still with food remnants on, breadsticks in the sun room drawer, and general dirt and grime in all rooms. It was clear that this place was given a brief once over at best. With regard to facilities, there was no speaker or Alexa as stated in the property details. We rang to ask and was told that the previous guest had smashed it. Granted, you cant control what guests do but surely during the deep clean and inventory check this should have been picked up and a replacement put in. There was also an issue with the hot tub which took two full days to get to temperature so we lost the use of it on day one. Finally, the mattresses are so old that there is literally no cushioning left in them. I felt like I was sleeping on a wooden door. A real pity that such a nice property is not being given the treatment it deserves.

Absolutely beautiful home! Very well equipped. Beds were really comfy, views absolutely stunning and a short walk to the beach!
Sandra
We enjoyed a fabulous few days at the Minerva, it's a fantastic house with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Great location and views.
Stephen
Didnt provide simple things such as cooking oil, dishwasher tabs, cleaning spray for kitchen counter tops which to me should be available, even if they are only the cheap options. Otherwise was absolutely lovely and couldnt fault it. Lovey views, 2 year old loved watching the cows out the back.

Absolute fabulous house. Well equipped for families with all ages children. Short walk to the beach, sea views and cosy at night too. Comfy beds and extensive kitchen facilities! Thank you so much for our stay we will be back! Highly recommend
Conveniently situated, excellent parking spaces. Lovely views and made a great base for a family holiday.
We've just come back from a wonderful holiday and the holiday house was the cherry on top! It was exactly how described, and was perfect for our large family of 11! The views were breathtaking, and the house had everything you needed to relax and ensure the kids were entertained. The pool table and little kitchen were an excellent bonus! We loved the welcome package and enjoyed a glass of the bubbly in the spacious hot tub! It was all lovely, nothing to fault.
Carrie
Honestly we couldnt have been happier! The property was incredible. Beautiful views, cosy, clean & close to all amenities. 9 of us stayed for 2 nights for my mums 70th birthday & she had the most amazing time. Shes actually requested we all start saving for another stay at Minerva as soon as possible. Thank you so much xx

Unfortunately we only have our last several years with Sykes Cottages in Bowness which have been fabulous. We found Minerva to be tired in decoration with the furniture being old and worn. On arrival the cleaning hadn't been as thorough as I had hoped with dishes still having grease on them. The dishwasher wasn't working and in all fairness George got a handyman to come out however he was unable to fix the problem. The biggest disappointment was the position of the hot tub being in the front which wasn't really explained in the brochure so we didn't use that. The conservatory was totally out of bounds due to the coldness and looking like a storage room for old furniture. Our holiday was booked until the 3123 however we left on 1123 so again this was very disappointing and a waste of money and holiday time.
Michele
Well where do I start, this place is absolutely amazing the pictures on the website do not do it justice the house is something special and will not disappoint. We spent a wonderful week here with our 3 dogs. From the moment we walked in we instantly all felt at home with all our stress draining out of our bodies. The views are spectacular and we spent so much time just chilling and admiring these. At night we had the log burner on which packed a punch and kept all nice and warm after a long day walking the hills. The hot tub was a great addition which help the aching bones. We definitely didnt want want to leave.

We loved our holiday the accommodation was wonderful , just one very small criticism we did not have a tin can opener we went to the cottage next door and they lent us one. Everything else was spot on . Would definitely return to Minerva when booking a holiday on angelsey.
