Moles Cottage Reviews

My family and I had such a wonderful weekend, we genuinely didn't want to leave. It was the perfect spot for a celebration, relaxed, welcoming, and full of happy memories. We've had lovely messages from our guests since, all saying the same. Thank you for an amazing stay.

The house accommodation was ideal for our group of 11 dog. The lounge, dinning room and kitchen were very good. The lighting was a little dim and could do with larger wattage bulbs. Some bathroom mirror lights did not work. There were no large cooking pots in the kitchen and we had to borrow one from the pub next door.
Old fashioned thatched cottage, clean, dog friendly & perfect for large groups. Lovely walks, great pub just down the road which serves lovely food & friendly staff.
We had a great long weekend at Moles Cottage, the house layout was ideal for us, location great, and the pub next door was excellent. They were great at helping us settle in. There are a few maintenance niggles. The oven door won't close properly, the toaster was very temperamental. The open fire was great, but often became very smoky, maybe the chimney needs cleaning? Perhaps more significantly the electrics in room 2 weren't working and the trip switch couldn't be moved to on. None of those things stopped us enjoying this house and I'm happy to recommend it

Positives are location, great pub and food, downstairs layout and bedroomensuite configuration worked well for party of 11 adults and 3 children. Negatives lack of kitchen equipment was a joke we were cooking a large family roast dinner but no baking or roasting tins, no pint glasses or fizz glasses, toaster didnt work properly, oven door broken and wouldnt close. Property in much need of some TLC, decoration tired, carpets worn and frayed, bath leaked, no light in one bedroom and no power working in another, holes in walls plastered but not decorated. Overall, this property could be fantastic but it needs some care and attention. No information in property on where to pub rubbish and recycling.

What a lovely place! Party of 14 stayed for the weekend and we did not feel cramped in any way. Good sized bedrooms, well appointed accommodation in every way, open fire, huge table for dining and games. Great location, right next door to a lovely pub The Museum Inn, which gave us wonderful food on Saturday night. Only small drawback was that the kitchen had a couple of niggly faults, but that did not detract from the overall experience which was a lovely weekend away with friends and family.
We stayed at Mole's Cottage for a family event over a weekend. We were so delighted with the accommodation, as well as the friendly service, excellent food and warm ambience in the pub next door which owns the cottage, that we are already planning a return visit in 2026. The cottage is the perfect location for a family group 10 adults, 4 children and a dog, with spacious, comfortable rooms and a large openplan ground floor area. The pub staff were brilliant welcoming, helpful and professional. We could not have been happier with the whole experience.
Such a wonderful cottage and perfect for 16 of us staying to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had everything we needed, the beds were comfy, and there was so much space downstairs for everyone to enjoy. The open fire was perfect for a cosy evening in after lots of walking! We really had a lovely time staying here. Bonus that the pub is literally on the doorstep and they are amazing in there so friendly and welcoming.
We just returned from a weekends stay at Moles Cottage for my boyfriends 60th Birthday. What a fantastic place for a large group, really clean, everyone had their own bathroom and space. This cottage is right next to the Museum Inn pub and is run by them, really helpful, lovely people couldnt have done more for us to make sure our stay was perfect, thank you so much, would definitely recommend
This was a lovely cottage and as a group of 8 couples we had a fabulous weekend stay here. It was in a great location for walks and was right next door to the pub. There was a lovely large table for shared meals, the bedrooms were comfy and all bedrooms had en suite facilities. Some additional equipment in the kitchen would have been good to facilitate catering for 16 but the pub readily provided missing items! The only real downside were the green lights on the emergency lighting in each bedroom which were very bright.

Eight of us enjoyed our stay at Moles Cottage as a 30th Anniversay celebration. It is a comfortable, nicely decorated property, located in a beautiful peaceful village. However, we did have an issue with insufficient quantities of hot water, which we raised during our stay. The cottage is within easy reach of Wimbourne, Blanford Forum, Shaftesbury and the National Trust's Kingston Lacey for pleasant days out. We also had a delicious meal in the Museum Inn next door.
Booked and stayed here for my partners 40th birthday with family and friends. On arrival we had a bit of a panic when the museum inn had no idea of our booking, which they noted as an error by Skyes Holiday Cottages not sending the booking through. This could have been disastrous if someone else had of booked it as well as I had family coming from a distance and would of ruined what was a surprise for my partner. Luckily I had all the emails confirming our booking. The cottage itself was amazing. The rooms were lovely, clean and very comfy. The open plan layout was great for big groups with plenty of space. The fact it is dog friendly was even better with a lovely garden. Be cautious though as its not completely enclosed and there is a couple of gaps that dogs could escape. The museum inn next door is a great pub. Staff very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. Location wise, it was ideal. Plenty of things to do nearby. Would have no issue booking this again and would recommend.
