Oak Cottage, Somerleyton

A beautiful house and fabulous location in the country. Great local walks and coastal walks within 30 min drive. The meadow garden is beautiful and enjoyed regular visits from deers. Secure garden for dogs. A well stocked larder which was ideal for condiments but the housekeeping team may wish to look at food expiry dates, including within the welcome pack.

I've had a wonderful time at Oak Cottage. I am disabled so having a bed downstairs enabled me to come here with my family I went to see the beach etc and ate out. Watching my great grandchildren playing in the garden with all the lovely sights was wonderful. I would definitely come again. Super cottage and a lovely five days.

The cottage was wonderful and refurbished beautifully in keeping with its style. Each room was fully equipped to make the stay comfortable and practical, from the feather bedding and blankets to the pots and pans and condiments. It was so easy doing xmas dinner in the kitchen with the endless pots and pans, large oven and counter space. The only thing I would suggest is an inventory of items and, as useful as it is that previous visitors leave food cupboard stuff behind, that anything out of date is thrown away. The set out of the cottage was perfect for our family with my elderly parents, all areas were used well and it was always warm and cosy, and the log burner was bliss and made it feel cottagey and Christmassy!! We all found our beds comfortable, some mattresses were firmer than others and this worked with who was in which room, although the double bed next to the master was very squeaky whenever my daughter rolled over! All rooms were well equipped with hanging space, shelves, drawers, mirrors. In comparison to all the other rooms though, the master bedroom lacked hanging space, the hooks in the wardrobe weren't practical, a rail would work better. We had high winds on Xmas eve, which moved the roof tiles above the master bedroom and en suite, it was extremely loud during the night so we didn't sleep much that night this was reported the following day and picked up as soon as the office opened again where they were keen to get it looked at, hopefully this is now been resolved. Fortunately all other nights, were peaceful and quiet. The village pub is cosy and had a lovely atmosphere, it was busy in the bar and restaurant over Xma with log fire burning and carol singing on Xmas eve! Please note take a torch for walking after dark, its pitch black!! We found a walk by the river in the village too which was beautiful. This village is remote with a local bike shop that also sells food essentials. Its an easy drive into the nearest town if you need other items. I've never been away in a self equipped property before so have nothing to compare it to, but i believe i have high expectations, and overall I loved the practicality of this property along with its comfortable and cosy offerings, its location and amenities.

What a stunning house this is! Warm, welcoming and with an architectural surprise around every handcrafted corner. We couldn't keep Ramon out of the Egg Chair, even though he is 94 years old! None of us had ever ventured into Suffolk or Norfolk before so this has also been an eyeopening week. Wonderful to have a place where our our 5 generations could get together and make new memories. Particularly enjoyed doing the Somerleyton Loop! Thanks a billion.

Oak Cottage is in a lovely spot in the pretty and quiet village of Somerleyton. A lovely retreat from the bustle of city life, but within easy striking distance of the Broads, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Somerleyton Hall is just round the corner too, where we enjoyed a stroll around the gardens. The cottage is spacious and well appointed. Stylish but comfortable. Wed certainly recommend.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful village. The gardens are enclosed and safe for dogs. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Lovely house, peaceful surroundings! Brilliant walks locally with a stop at the Dukes Head! Not far from seasides, zoo and Framlingham Castle! The children loved it, especially the egg chair! Definitely a future booking coming up! Thank you.

The cottage was absolutely lovely especially the meadow at the front which was in full bloom. It was a nice quiet location and we enjoyed fantastic weather. We had great days out at Southwold and Beccles.

The property was incredible. The rooms were beautifully laid out, the sitting rooms were spacious and there was everything you needed, and more.

The best decorated and equipped cottage we have stayed in. 2 toddlers and dog enjoyed it too. Could not find switch to turn off rear outside lights.

We had a wonderful weekend away with family and friends! The house was perfect for hosting a large group with everyone still having their own space. It was also great being able to bring the dogs with us!

We have all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your wonderful house. It is very comfortable and well equipped with everything we have needed and more. We have enjoyed a trip to Norwich, Beccles, Southwold, Aldeburgh and a lovely walk on Corton beach and lovely weather for the time of year. Glad we went for a meal at the Dukes head. The food was amazing. Would definitely recommend Oak Cottage to anyone and look forward to returning again.

We had a wonderful long weekend in Oak Cottage celebrating my husbands 60th birthday with family. The property was stunning we loved the stylish interior design. Everything was high spec from the kitchen equipment to the bathrooms and bedding. Thank you we would love to return.

Oak Cottage was delightful. Warm, clean, comfortable and spacious. Endless high quality detail. Eight large adults accommodated comfortably. Good kitchen facilities. We would gladly visit again!

Wow, Wow, Wow! What an absolutely stunning property. There was not one thing that was not exceptional in Oak Cottage. Location, features, design, content....even the dogs loved it! This appears to be a labour of love, and everything was well thought through with great attention to detail. An incredibly high end property, but comfy, cosy and full of everything you would need for a week away. We loved every minute of our stay and can't recommend it enough! Easy to get to the beach, great pub on the doorstep, what more can you want....in fact, when can I move in??!

Oak Cottage is in very quiet and beautiful location, but within easy reach of lovely beaches and Countryside. There is everything you would need in the cottage and the large enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 dogs. The kitchen was well equipped with everything and more you could possibly need. With A beautiful bathroom with freestanding bath and excellent showers throughout with four bedrooms we had plenty of room with 2 adults. A very beautiful and thoughtfully designed and spacious cottage, with the added benefit of an electric vehicle charger. This property is definitely a perfect choice for a break in Suffolk Norfolk

Really it was great and to nit pick seems unjust. I wanted arm rests on the trendy and otherwise comfortable sofa in the extension. The Range oven needs an instruction guide. Couldn't get the grill to work. Toilet Beds were very comfortable. All the kitchen white goods were high standard and plenty of crockery etc. Wow was the first comment to be entered into the Guest Book and I would echo that. Great location, off road parking plentiful for numerous vehicles. Walking from the door great. Pub good as well. TVGames room other side of house away from chillax roomextension ideal . Well designed house and outside sitting area.

Oak Cottage is a beautiful home, lovingly transformed into a modern,comfortable,clean and cosy holiday home. We were a family of 6 adults, two children and a dog and the house suited our needs perfectly. The beds were very comfortable, the four bathrooms were spotless and modern. Every need was catered for, all amenities were new and shiny! Thank you to the owners for an excellent stay.

Wow! What an amazing job you've done with this beautiful house! Its been a lovely place to spend two weeks with our large family and small dog. The house is filled to the brim with everything you could want and more. For the first time ever, we were not missing a pizza wheel! We loved long walks along the beautiful beaches at Southwold and CaisteronSea. Somerleyton house and gardens were pretty with a handy vegan cafe. Thanks again for such a lovely stay, we'd recommend Oak Cottage to anyone!
