Pennal Cottage Reviews

We had the perfect stay at Pennal cottage, 6 of us celebrating our friends 50th wedding anniversary. The cottage had everything we needed. The hot tub was great, we took a gazebo with us as we were there when it rained a lot so we were still able to enjoy it. The pub across the road was a little disappointing. Closes between 2pm and 6pm. On the Sunday, when it was dry, we took a walk along the canal to a lovely pub 2 miles along, was very busy and the food looked amazing. Worth a visit.

Thank you for a lovely fortnight in Pennal Cottage. We found the property to be exceptional so well equipped in every room, very comfortable seating and bed and overall a real home from home. We did not want to leave! The hot tub with separate towels to use was a real bonus every evening after a day of sightseeing in the superb locality. Everywhere so close and easily accessible. Ruby enjoyed her walks along the towpath every morning, afternoon and evening, making new friends along the way. Unfortunately the wet weather at the start of the holiday and then the lower temperatures meant we couldn't sit outside of an evening, which we would have enjoyed doing. Maybe next time! The log fire was very cosy on the colder evenings. The huge kitchen table was used many evenings to play board games. A big thank you to Sue for all your kindness in checking in with us by email to ensure everything was OK, without intruding in any way. All your instructions, and those in the house information folder, were excellent and easy to follow.

Pros Very clean, comfy beds, well equipped, hot tub in lovely gardens next to canal bank, rural area but only 15 min drive to Oswestry Cons struggled with only one toiletbathroom, situated on busy road, pub had very limited opening hours
We had a wonderful break in this lovely and historic cottage. We had beautiful weather so we were able to make great use of the well designed and very peaceful garden. The hot tub was a real hit. Lovely walks along the nearby canal and very handy for the local pub! Short drive to supermarkets in Oswestry. The bedrooms were very cosy and the kitchen well equipped. Sue was extremely helpful with queries and nothing was too much trouble. What a wonderful and generous host! We would love to stay again.
Really lovely place to stay, right on the canal for walks. Pub opposite does great food. House is very clean and bigger than it looks in photos. Super comfy beds. Well maintained outside area with plenty of seating, which is fully enclosed perfect for wandering dogs. Weve already discussed booking again for in the autumn.

Absolutely beautiful cottage was such a lovely home feeling. Would recommend to anyone as its lovely for a quick getaway with a big family and pets
Pennal cottage was perfect with lovely hosts. A lovely cottage tastefully decorated situated in a small village by the Montgomery canal. Light, airy and perfect for a relaxing break. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need whether it be cooking in the kitchen, relaxing in the bath or simply a restful nights sleep. Lovely fluffy towels and the toiletries were great. Outside the secluded hot tub was fabulous for winding down after a day exploring the Shropshire countryside. A walk along the canal path is a must, it was lovely seeing the canal barges pull up outside the cottage. Theres also a quaint pub opposite that did a cracking Sunday lunch. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning to stay again
