Pump House, Hellingly

An excellent well maintained little cottage, the owner was very friendly and available should we have needed anything, which we didn't. There is a small enclosed garden for you and your dog to sit out in, and you also have access to the owners adjacent 10 acre of garden and woodland to exercise your dog, plus there are local footpath walks from the cottage. We would happily book again should we be visiting the area.

We had a lovely stay at the Pump House. Its a really charming little place and perfect for a relaxing break. One of the highlights for us was the surrounding walks there are plenty of beautiful routes right on the doorstep, and our little dog Millie absolutely loved having so much space to run around and explore. The property itself was cosy and comfortable. The owners were also very nice and welcoming, especially Mick, who was very chatty and shared some really interesting facts and stories, which added a nice personal touch to our stay. Our only small criticism would be the lighting. It felt like it was either very bright with all the lights on or a bit too dark with them off. An uplight behind the sofa or in one of the corners would make a big difference and help create a nicer level of lighting in the evenings. The downstairs toilet can also be a little inconvenient when youre upstairs in bed and need to use it during the night. We also felt the small room upstairs might have been more useful as a toilet rather than a wardrobe space. The shower also lacked a bit of power as it isnt a power shower, which could potentially be improved. Its also worth noting that you need to step into the bath to use it, which could be a little awkward for elderly guests. Overall though, we had a really lovely stay and its a sweet little place in a great location, especially if youre bringing a dog along.

Our second visit to Pump House. A lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. The owners are lovely and very welcoming and the property is perfectly cared for with everything you could need. Set in private woodlands with lakes and wonderful wildlife this is a perfect stay for those wishing to relax in peace and quiet. Our dogs were welcomed and enjoyed their walks here. Some wonderful places to visit on your doorstep such as Hertsmonceaux Castle, the Cuckoo Trail, Sheffield Park and local beaches. A definite must to return to and highly recommended.

Wonderful property to stay in everything you could want . The owners were not around for our stay but were in contact with us if we needed anything . We did not use the hot tub and i did feel that it heating up was a waste of energy , i dont know if they have to be left on . The only thing that could be improved was the kitchen lighting ,it was a bit dark when preparing food and washing up. The view out of the kitchen window was fantastic ,ducks, geese, rabbits and lots of birds visiting the bird feeder . Thank you pauline and mike for the use of the pump house.

We had a very comfortable stay at The Pump House . Our dogs were also welcomed which makes such a difference to us and its really appreciated. The cottage is well equipped with excellent facilities including a bath and shower ,washing machine and freezer. We were there in December so needed our wellies. An excellent location to explore East Sussex .

Lovely little place, clean and tidy with a private garden for your dog! Hot tub is a bonus! Bare in mind there is no direct access from property to garden, it's a little side gate.

Lovely location. Really friendly owners who were on hand if you needed them. The walks in the area were our priority but the hot tub at the end of the day a real bonus. Well equipped for cooking and a bottle of wine on arrival! Appreciated that Pauline!

Pump House is a lovely property, uniquely situated in large grounds with woodlands and ponds. Ideal for exercising your dog. The accommodation itself is very well equipped with modern furnishings, and the hot tub is a great way to relax after a busy day of walks around the East Sussex coast and countryside. The property owners live in the adjacent house and were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. We would definitely stay at Pump House for any future breaks in the area.

Gorgeous cottage, cant fault it. Amazing huge private grounds that they generously let us use to walk our dog. Hot tub is great, and has wonderful views over the grounds. Great location for walks and getting to the south coast.

Pump House was perfect for our week's stay in East Sussex. The house was ideal for the two of us, plus our dog. The property was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean upon arrival. The fully enclosed garden to the rear was great to sit out in with the dog perfectly safe. The grounds beyond, with its woods, three ponds and lake are simply amazing to wander around at your leisure. Pump House is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding area. Battle Abbey and Senlac Hill, Pevensey and its castle, Herstmonceux Castle, Rye, Lewes and Brighton are all within easy reach and well worth a visit. If you want to venture further into West Sussex, then Fishbourne Palace's Roman mosaics, and Arundel are worth seeing too.

Third year in this accommodation. Everything perfect as usual. Lovely, spacious open plan living roomdining roomkitchen downstairs. Comfortable, airy bedroom with separate dressing room upstairs. Large TV with good selection of channels and a very comfy settee to watch it from. Well equipped with all mod cons including WiFi. Pleasant garden, large enough for our two dogs to lounge about in and an easy to use hot tub. Big bonus is the lovely grounds to walk dogs in. Rural but near main roads to beaches and tourist spots. Owners are very friendly and are at hand if needed but let you get on with it otherwise. Highly recommended.

Strongly recommend using the Tescos app for delivery of shopping. Fabulous grounds to relax in with ponds and a lake. Perfect to use as a base to explore other nearby attractions. Loved the Jacuzzi. Lovely accommodation with great views and in a quiet area. Loved the hot tub and used it every day! Nice walk to the local pub. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. We took our two dogs with us and very dog friendly

The only gripe I had, was the shower. It was more like a trickle than a shower. Most of the other places I've stayed in have a power shower fitted which is more beneficial.

We had a great break at Pump House. The accommodation is excellent and clean and fresh throughout. The hosts are brilliant and incredibly helpful. In addition to the garden, visitors can use the surrounding private woodland and lakes. Excellent for dog walking and relaxing. Easy access to local pubs, restaurants and attractions. We have already booked for next year.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in. It was very well equiped every thing we needed For two pepole, large, warm in Febuary and comfortable, with a hot tube which was heated for us on arrival.. Great location and you can use the owners four acre garden and wood. If you have a dog and like walking, this cottage would suit you. Lots of footpaths in the area. The owners were very frendly and also have dogs.

Great place for a couple looking for a peaceful getaway but with easy access to the south coast and plenty of other places to visit. Would of given it 5 stars if the garden was accessible from the house not good early hours of the morning when the dogs needed to go out or to get to the hot tub which was preset at 37 degrees which was not quite hot enough for us In the October temperatures

We spent a lovely week at Pump House. Enjoyed the grounds of the main house with space to exercise our dog. Very dog friendly hosts. After big days out visiting sites and long country walks it was great to relax in the hot tub with a glass of wine.

Lovely property in beautiful grounds. Everything we needed was right there in the Pump House. The freezer and washing machine were especially useful hidden away in the cupboard under the stairs. Thanks again for decorating the place up for Mike's birthday.

What a lovely find. We booked last minute and were so lucky to find this property. Everything was perfect, couldn't fault a thing. Fantastic grounds to walk round and walks very close by. Thank you to the owners for a relaxing stay. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely Christmas at the pump house. Very comfortable with everything we needed including to make our Christmas dinner. Lovely bed and a great sofa to relax on. Despite the terrible weather there was one nice day that we were able to use the hot tub. Our first experience and it was lovely. The only slight negative is to be aware that the TV is just a TV. The internet speed is so slow you cannot stream anything. It would have been useful during our stay to be able to watch Netflix Amazon etc as the weather was so awful. This is the only thing missing from this lovely property.

A five star location, quiet, restful, the perfect retreat. Everything you will ever need on site and if not just ask and you will get a quick responce me thinks from the great hosts. Thank you. Spent two weeks of bliss and would certainly recommend, really nice surroundings, huge garden with lakes to take your mind of any stress you may have and fenced in all round for large dogs, little ones watch in places with wildlife lifting fence. Plenty of attractions, nice fairly local pub The Bulls Head near Hertmoncux with great food every visit. Pump House and pub Highly recommend.

Thank you for another lovely stay at Pump House and the welcome gifts. We wanted a holiday which was relaxing and that's exactly what this place offers. Pump House is exceptionally beautiful and clean. The bed is so comfy we slept really well. Outside is so peaceful all you can hear is the birds. Superb scenery. Enclosed garden which we needed for our dog. Afternoons spent in the garden with glorious weather to sunbathe and relax in the hot tub. Even our reactive dog was more chilled than at home! Absolutely nothing to fault. We enjoyed it so much we booked for a third time within 3 days of returning home! See you next year and thanks again

Great place and particularly perfect for anyone with dogs. Private fenced in area a few short steps from the front door with a dog guard provided for when we wanted to have the front door open. Large grounds for walking the dogs in the evening. Very well equipped kitchen and comfy settee for relaxing whilst watching the TV. Good shower and roomy bedroom with a dressing room adjoining. Washing machine a bonus as meant I didnt have an huge washing to do on return home. Owners are lovely, on hand if needed but let us get on with holiday otherwise. Cant recommend too highly. Planning to return next year.

We had a really nice time at Pump House in its beautiful grounds where we were able to wander around and enjoy the wildlife which was great for our Cockapoo to enjoy the walks in. The cottage was very comfortable and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your holiday including a bottle of winemilkdog biscuits on arrival and was well placed to reach most places along the south coast including Hastings and Eastbourne. The owners were very welcoming and although we didn't need to contact them much during our stay they were always available if required. We would have no hesitation in booking Pump House in the future.

Would like to say we had a wonderful break. The cottage and grounds were fantastic. The bottle of wine and milk was a nice to touch. They were very helpful in taking me to the garage to get oil for my car.
