Stakesby Villa Whitby Reviews

Genevieve
Lovely big house, Perfect for a family occasion. Games room great addition. Check in time of 4pm is too late, we checked in to a dark cold house. No Welcome pack or anything which was a shame, however tea coffee & sugar was found in cupboard. Thanks
Christopher
We have just enjoyed a 10 day stay at Stakesby as a base to explore the Whitby and North Yorks Moors area, and it was perfectly placed for this, a 1015 min walk into town and a short drive to reach most of the interesting spots in the area such as Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay. The Cinder Track which starts at the end of the road makes an excellent walk to Hawsker and R H Bay with a bus back. The house is very spacious and comfortably furnished and had lots of character, with plenty of space for a group or large family, although self catering for more than a few might be a challenge with the kitchen equipment available. The private parking allocation was a big bonus. Unfortunately we found the patiogarden area was a bit of a disappointment, quite scruffy and unattractive and not particularly inviting even on a nice warm afternoon. We struggled to watch much on the Smart TVs as there didnt appear to be any FreesatFreeview feed and the Apps were also difficult for us to access reliably. An information pack with more information explaining the setup would have been useful.

Stakesby Villa is a wonderful place to stay, it's central to lots of places to visit and only a 5 minute walk into town. The off road parking is a huge bonus in such a busy town and the property itself is amazing, so much space, extremely comfy furnishings and unique decor. Ryan in the flat below was lovely, he came to the rescue when we couldn't figure out what we'd done to the TV. A fabulous property that I'd recommend to everyone. We hope to visit again sometime.
Overall property was lovely although a big house the living room couldn't accommodate all 7 guests to be all in the same room watching TV the two sofas in the dining room could be better used in the living room I think as we sort of had to split up really to be comfortable. Unfortunately there was building work going on in the basement meaning at times it was really noisy with drilling etc we felt this maybe should of been communicated to us before we came as considering we had building work getting done in our own house we weren't expecting to coming away to building work underneath the house we were staying at, so that was abit of a let down. The garden we didn't use at all as with children 3 and 5 as building materials and rubble around isn't the best. The owners we did meet were lovely and did tell us that they were around building etc obviously at that point we didn't know how things were going to be. We may have picked a different property if we had known this and felt abit let down for our 839 we paid. The TV in the living room also interfered with the TV in the games room so that was abit annoying. The owners probably arnt aware of this. If the house hadn't been getting work done nearly all the week we were there the review would of been spot on this just let it down for us all. Luckily we did take the dog we were expecting to take as that would of probably added to the dog barking at the noise. The beds were comfortable and everything else was good was just a big let down on that side for us. The owners were lovely and this isn't what I wanted to write as their house is lovely. Just the work did spoil the experience unfortunately

A wonderfully spacious and comfortable house. Exceeded our expectation!. Six adults and a toddler had a fabulous stay. None of us have any negative feedback. Owner was so helpful he let us know the day before our arrival that the house was available to go into earlier than 4 p.m. I highly recommend!

Stakesby Villa is a beautiful house, very spacious, comfortable, and lots of lovely large light and airy rooms. It is near enough to walk i to Whitby and convenient to visiting some beautiful destinations. I did feel conscious of the Caretaker that lives below the house we did not hear him, but he must have heard us, being a family group, we played boards games in the evening and we were very 'loud' but, apart from that i would definately recommend staying here. I would stay again.

This is a wonderful property, very spacious and private, well maintained with brand new decor and fittings. Amazingly, it's also very close to the middle of Whitby, and has THREE private parking spots. Lovely private garden which has new plantings, should be looking amazing in a few months. Very nice and functional new kitchen. Bunk room and front double room have small but nice and new private ensuite bathrooms, the large master bedroom and lovely upstairs loft room share the spacious Jack & Jill main bath. Renters should know that the garden is only accessible via a gate on the road, it's necessary to go out onto the very quiet dead end road and into the gate, as the garden access belongs to the basement flat under the house, which is occupied by an associate of the owner. However, the guy downstairs is incredibly helpful if you have any problems, and based on our other experiences it is a big plus to have someone around who can help with things like missing keys or problems with the house, not that this place has any.
We came for my Birthday week with wider family there was eight at first then the party reduced to four. Really comfortable place. The location is ideal for great walks and proximity to the town. The enclosed garden was great for the dog. The cinder track is a good walk on those days when it is too hot to do much with the dog. We really enjoyed our stay!
The house is lovely. So spacious and well equipped. The rooms are really big so even with 7 of us we never felt crowded. The games room proved very popular! We had 3 cars so the parking spaces were a bonus. It is only a few minutes walk into Whitby and right by the cinder track for walks and bikes. The owner and caretaker were really helpful with any queries. We really enjoyed our stay and all said we'd love to come back.

Absolutely fantastic house very spacious and clean with a lovely huge TV in the living room which was perfect for watching films and You Tube. The beds are super comfortable and we loved having the large dining room for evening meals. Its also fantastic that it has lots of parking and is very close to town. We also loved the large garden a real sun trap we will definitely stay again.
Amazing property! Incredibly spacious with quirky furniture and decor. So good to have a property with ample parking in Whitby. The best part however has to be the games room. The children spent all their time playing table football and enjoying the retro games on the arcade machine. We all slept really well and will definitely return!
A really great house, beautifully refurbished. Great location less than 10 minutes walk into Whitby. Helpful owner. Would have been good to know someone lives underneath the property though in the advertisement. The games room was brilliant for the kids and adults! Kitchen reasonably well stocked for selfcatering, but could have used at least one frying pan or griddle pan and a cafetire for coffee lovers. The garden is nice but if you take a dog with you it is worth noting that the garden is currently accessed from a separate gate a little further down the street. I would recommend the house in spite of these minor things we had a good short break there.
