The Old Coach House Reviews

Stuart
Arriving at The Old Coach House, we immediately felt the welcoming warmth of a true family home. Settling in for our weeklong stay, we were eager to discover every grand, historic corner of this beautiful retreat. We wandered across the polished parquet floors, completely charmed by the rustic beams and exposed brick. Climbing the magnificent stone spiral staircase tucked inside the external turret felt like stepping back in time. Leafing through the welcome guide in the snug, we read the fascinating history of the building, learning how it originally served the neighbouring Vicarage and how the owner had so meticulously restored it while preserving its soul. Though the Peak District weather was often challenging throughout our week, the house was a perfect haven for us. It offered a profound sense of peace and tranquility that felt deeply healing. Furthermore, the property provided the perfect base to venture out and discover the surrounding historic towns and beautiful local walks whenever the skies allowed.
From start to finish, The Old Coach House is a pleasant expereience. You feel like you are walking into someones large and expansive property after they have just gone out for the day. This is far from your typical rental property. We thoughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. There is a window seat in the second lounge from which you can comfortably look into the expansive back garden and surrounding countryside. Three big double bedrooms and a single were all comfortable. Kitchen is modern and has plenty of cutlery and crockery. Sheen is more of a small farming village. You are in the middle of nowhere, but not far from anywhere. Come prepared with your own food and supplies as there is no local shop just around the corner. There is also only the single family bathroom. And beware of the farm dog across the road who comes into the back garden to explore and leave his scent. But if you want peace and quiet in the countryside in a large and expansive property, this should be ideal for you. Thank you, Sir G, for keeping the authenticty of a family home and allowing strangers to enjoy the best of the Peak District and return to a wonderful property after a long day out.

This is a lovely property, lots of room for the amount of people who can stay and loads of private parking space too. The only downside is it's a little difficult to all sit in the same room of an evening. The property inside and out is beautiful and the views from the property are amazing too. The only major downside we had was we had WiFi for 24 hours at the start then nothing for the rest of our stay, and the TVs were all set to use the internet too so we could only watch dvds, no news, sports or in our case the new year coming in. The contact was helpful in chasing it but was not fixed during our stay. The place is very private and a really nice house and view, would definitely consider booking again.
What a beautiful house and grounds. The inside decor exceeded our expectations and was well equipped for everything we needed. My granddaughters 7 & 9 both said they felt like Queens, especially when walking up the stairs to their bedroom! We all loved our stay and will definitely be back!
The house was lovely, loved the donkeys at the backside of the garden. Very peaceful setting, breakfast outside was a must each day.. Only thing we struggled with was trays for the oven. As there are no takeaways or shops close, and only an Indian that delivers which we used once and was delicious we cooked in, but we didn't have enough trays to cook for a large party all at once and had to eat in sittings. A BBQ would have been nice also as would a cafetiere, but that's just our preferences and it did not impact on our holiday at all which we all thoroughly enjoyed
A lovely house to stay in, very quiet location, very comfortable, wellequipped, large back garden with plenty of seating outside, a summerhouse to escape to if you wanted solitude. Although a 7 sleeper, the 2 lounges would each only seat 3 on the sofasarm chair, so we couldn't all sit together of an evening. We would have liked some coat hooks down stairs and somewhere to put our shoes....wet coats ended up hanging on doors or backs of chairs, and wet shoes on the floor in the scullery....not ideal with 7 of us. I kept our 2 large dogs tethered in the back garden as there was a possibility one may have jumped down over the back wall or climbed over the side wall if running free, but not likely to be a problem with small dogs. Easy access to shops in the local towns, and Dale walks by car, some walks directly from the village, plenty of fresh farm eggs for sale and a small farm shop. A very enjoyable stay.
Big missing a tea pot! Could not find one anywhere! Staircase rope Bannister bracket and right hand bracket need urgent maint loose brackets. Everything else superb!
