Excellent location for a comfortable and relaxed break.

Beautiful property in beautiful surroundings. We would recommend it highly to others.
What a brilliant home. . house was presented lovely throughout and spotlessly clean, even down to the driveway, seating areas and hot tub etc again all kept immaculate. The location was great for walking with the dog, fishing, sailingkayaking. Couple of great cafes on the lake we made use of. Will 100 return.
As soon as we arrived, the relaxation started. The outlook is wonderful, the property was immaculate, there were fresh flowers and a welcome gift awaiting us. Everything about The Sheiling makes you feel welcome and at ease. The weather was mixed, but the house is warm and comfortable, the outdoor spaces beautiful and the outlook over the lake and beyond is stunning in all weathers. The sailing club just a short walk up the road has a delightful cafe as well, and the Rudyard Hotel was a favourite for meals. One of our best holidays of all time! Thank you!
Jessica
Such a stunning property and location. The house has everything you could want and need. Being on the lake is picturesque and with the bonus of a hot tub to enjoy the views with too!The owner Paul was so helpful and accommodating also. We had the best time and really hope to return one day in the near future. Thank you so much. From The Lowes

Accommodation was amazing and the view from the garden was stunning
An amazing stay in an incredible location. If youre looking for a luxury break away with the dogs then this place is perfect. Great walks on the doorstep, a stunning home to come back to, woodburner to warm you up and a jacuzzi at the end of the day to relax those tired muscles after walks in the Peak District!
Debbie
A beautiful house with breathtaking views. Well equipped with everything we needed. To wake up with the veiw of the lake was amazing. Beautiful walks on your doorstep and the added bonus of a hot tub . This is our second visit and we will be back next year xx
House was amazing. Everything had been catered for and thought of. Waking up to those views of the lake everyday were fantastic. We will definitely be back.
This house is everything you need for a relaxing stay in a superb location. We stayed here on a girlie weekend for the second time and cannot recommend it enough. The hot tub is a must for us, which is a very good size. I am sure we will be returning again.
Absolute perfection, fabulous house in a stunning location with everything you could possibly need pure quality thankyou.

The Shieling was an absolutely famous place to stay, spotlessly clean & very comfortable, one of our party isn't very good on her legs so the only problem we found were the steps that led down to the property, in the daytime they were great but we went out for a meal in the evening & feel like more lighting should be added, but it didn't stop us from having a fabulous time at an absolutely gorgeous property, the views over the lake were amazing & the hot tub was certainly used alot, the steps won't stop us booking again, but we'll probably book in summer when its lighter for longer
Fabulous accommodation, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Location is beautiful, highly recommend this property.
Had a fantastic week away in this beautiful home, facilities were perfect, super clean property and the views were amazing! Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back next year. Thank you for an amazing stay.
The most beautiful house in an idyllic location. So peaceful, the perfect place to relax. The house is well equipped for a wonderful getaway, immaculately clean and very comfortable. The lake views are stunning and the lake is a lovely walk. Mini beans at the sailing club is also well worth a visit for a lovely breakfast and coffee. The only thing that would stop us coming back is the garden isnt enclosed for our dog and access down to the lake is tricky via a tricky path that is sort of a broken wall which was difficult to navigate. Overall a wonderful stay

To find a dog friendly property of this high calibre is rare indeed. The house is immaculate with all the things you could possibly need for an exceptional stay. The beds, sofa and even dining room chairs were comfy and the views were to die for. Such a relaxing place! There was a slight problem when we arrived but Paul nice chap dealt with it and it caused us no hassle. I cannot rate this place highly enough and for a super critical person, that is praise indeed!
At last this property matched and even exceeded our expectations We could not fault it at all. Perfect venue, perfect setting perfect holiday stay.

An absolutely fantastic place to stay, with plenty to see and do round about. Rudyard Lake is so tranquil, with geese, ducks, herons and terns to name but a few. Watching activities on the lake as very interesting. The house itself was of first class standard, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday
Sharon
Beautiful comfortable property, everything you need in the property, outstanding views, lovely walks around the lake and great food at rudyard hotel.
Derrick
Having stayed at both your properties I can honestly say that they are outstanding in the most beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Just one small point given that the facilities are well catered for, an iron and ironing board would have come in handy.
Debbie
Lovely property and it had everything that we needed. The hot tub was our favourite place. We went as a group of 4 with 2 dogs and were very comfortable. Wonderful place to stay.
Andrew
There were a couple of problems with the heatingboiler but the maintenance people were totally responsive and helpful. Really loved the place and will go back
Well what can I say other than wow! We were fortunate enough to arrive at the end of a cold snap, to what can only be described as a winter wonderland. Snow and a frozen lake, but a warm, cozy house with amazing views. The house is stunning and in an amazing location, with some lovely touches like the bath in bedroom with views over the lake and the hot tub. The team are really friendly, and answered our queries really quickly. The only thing we can think its missing is a cafetire. We would very happily spend another week here.

We had a great stay at the Sheiling. Its a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Especially the circular walk around the Lake is great for walking the dogs. The house itself had all the comfort we need, a cosey livingroom a and diningarea. All with views on the Lake. Its really idealic and sereen. The caretaker was also very friendly. There was a Christmas tree and decorations which made the Sheiling experience around Christmas time superB. Thank you very much!
This place is amazing! The views are out of this world! Even when it rained! It felt home from home but more luxurious! We didnt want to leave!
We had a 7 day stay here and it's a beautiful property. Perfect to relax and enjoy the scenery, especially from the rear of the house. Plus, the hot tub has been the best and the biggest one we've had, when on holiday. Plenty of room to stretch out, even with four people in it. Would certainly book The Sheiling again.
The sheiling is a very nice, cosy and warm property overlooking Rudyard lake. The hot tub is fantastic and well maintained, a couple of reasons for not scoring 5 star is mainly the access from the top where you park the car down into the property, this is navigated by a steep downhill on a pea gravel path with few sleepers as steps there should be a picture of this on the Sykes site when viewing, I am sure some people will book this and arrive thinking I can't get in to the property. Secondly if you wish to cook yourself the kitchen had limited utensils. Overall a beautiful house just needs a tweak thank you.
Fantastic cottage and setting. Minor issue with sink being loose and toilet seats moving. Would recommend and will be back next year
A simply stunning place to stay. The views of the lake are incredible, even on rainy days. And on those rainy days there was nothing nicer than lighting the log burner and settling down with a good book. The house itself is gorgeous, finished to a high standard, with some lovely touches thanks for the fizz. The hot tub was a fantastic bonus. I wish we'd booked for longer, just what was needed to recharge the batteries.
Amanda
The property was beautiful and every need was catered for. The extra touches such as special biscuits, milk and prosecco were lovely. Hosts were extremely helpful yet not invasive. A perfect holiday.
Absolutely amazing location, superb facilities and a property maintained to a very high spec.
The communication from the team was excellent and the property is amazing. It has been refurbished to a high standard and the views are amazing. Would highly recommend staying here.
The property was absolutely beautiful, it was in immaculate condition upon arrival and the view was absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend staying.
Annabel
A beautiful property. Lovely inside, stunning views, and feels like a true escape. Everything we hoped for and more.
