Tirallen Reviews

What a fabulous Christmas getaway. House was beautifully decorated for the festive season. We had a wonderful week, Catrin was readily available if needed and very helpful when we had a hot water issue, very quickly resolved. Kitchen had everything required, we had a full Christmas dinner with no issues. Stairgate at the bottom of the stairs was a godsend as we had a 3 and 1yr old, so very welcome. We all enjoyed the hot tub, this was checked everyday by Catrin or a family member. Very close to Llandovery 810 min by car where youll find plenty of pubs, a few takeaways and a coop for groceries. All in all we had a fantastic week and will definitely try and return in the Summer, especially for the grounds and gardens I would highly recommend a visit to Tirallen.

We had an absolutely great time here. Amazing house and very well equipped. The hot tub was an added bonus which was lovely and relaxing. A neighbouring town had plenty of pubs and places to eat, as well as nearby walks and hikes which were only a short drive away. We couldnt have asked for a better stay, would 100 recommend. Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful house. All the character of a period home with all the comforts of modern day living. There was excellent communication with the hosts and they provided maintenance of the hot tub daily whilst respecting our privacy. The grounds were beautiful and access to the river Towy was a bonus.

Property was absolutely fabulous. Extremely spacious. Perfect for our mixed group of family, friends and doggy. 10 of us The landlords communication was extremely helpful too. Hot tub was perfect after lots of hiking!! The local village is 8 mins drive and has everything you might need. Shops, takeaways & amazing pubs. Perfect setting and highly recommend.

Ideal holiday accommodation especially if you have a four legged friend. The garden was a great place for our dog to run around in and explore. The house was spacious and well appointed, and the setting was relaxing and peaceful. The owners were readily available to answer any questions
Wow! We are just back from our family visit 6 adults, 4 children. Beautiful period home in a stunning location. Communication from host was great. Home fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. We already can't wait to visit again. Thank you so much!
The house and gardens generally were v nice, and the owners promptly supplied nonslip shower mats at our request which we were pleased about, and we had an enjoyable stay however my enjoyment of the holiday was spoiled as I, together with my adult son and daughter, developed a nasty red rash by the end of our holiday which was diagnosed by my doctor on the Monday of the following week as folliculitis which I had never had before, for which I was prescribed antibiotics. I know rashes can come for different reasons, but Hot Tub Folliculitis can arise when the chlorine & pH levels of hot tubs aren't correct. The rashes looked identical to images of Hot Tub Folliculitis on the internet and I believe that the hot tub was the cause. On the Wednesday of our holiday we had reported that the water in the hot tub was green, and the text response suggested I imagine its just high children usage. The man of the house did turn up later, saw the green water and said that it wouldnt be good to use it like that. He emptied it and refilled it. The water was much more pleasant when we used it on the Thursday and we texted to thank him. The rashes started to be noticed on Thursday but really came out later on Friday evening and resulted in a quick visit to the local chemists on Saturday and then a consultation with our doctor on the Monday after the holiday as the rash was quite severe. Then the man of the house was texted about the folliculitis problem and our suggestion that the levels in the hot tub should be more carefully checked for future visitors but we had no reply. This has been rather worrying and an unpleasant end to our holiday which we hope is not repeated for any future visitors. Because of the folliculitis contracted by 3 adults in our party during our holiday, our overall rating is 2 out of 5. Otherwise the rating would have been 45. We rated cleanliness and maintenance lower only because of the hot tub issue.
We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous property. The house, gardens and the location surpassed our expectations. Communication from Catrin was excellent she answered our queries quickly before we arrived and stayed in touch throughout the stay. The welcome basket with local goodies was a lovely touch. We all enjoyed the walk to the beautiful river at the end of the road and the lovely hot tub afterwards. Thank you also for allowing us to fish from your land. The house was super comfortable and wellequipped, with was plenty of space for 10 of us. The teens loved the table football and the mini pool table. The surroundings are stunning and theres lots to do. The little town of llandovery nearby is lovely. The whole stay was wonderful and wed love to return. Thoroughly recommend!! Thank you Catrin and family.
We had a lovely week in Tirallen, the hot tub and garden were very much enjoyed by my Children and grandchildren by day and in the evening we were able to prepare lovely meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoy our meals and games evenings around the large dining room table. My Grandaughter loved the yellow relaxing chair chaise long. The owner was great to communicate with and happy to answer any questions we had before and during our stay. We all fell in love with the farm cat whom we named Brian. Thanks for a memorable holiday, would love to return in the future.
The whole family absolutely loved staying at Tirallen. All the bedrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped so cooking was a joy and eating around the large dinning table made every meal memorable. We had breakfast at the outdoor dinning table in the sun and enjoyed the beautiful well kept grounds. The local cat is very friendly but kept hidden away from our dog who enjoyed roaming the grounds. Before we got home the family were asking when we can visit again.

Even Storm Bert couldnt spoil our trip to Tirallen! We had a fabulous time at this beautifully renovated property. Its an easy place to travel to, and whilst its only a couple of minutes away from the main road, it feels as though you are in the middle of nowwhere. The property is a short walk from the River Towy, although when we arrived it was far too wet and windy, so a walk along the riverbank was off the cards! The house is in a quiet location on a former dairy farm, and theres even a farm cat to keep you company if you so wish. There are five spacious bedrooms, plenty of hot running water and a lovely modern bathroom and kitchen. It was a pleasure to sit in the hot tub and stare at the stars and then return to the house to either be sociable and watch TV in one lounge or sit quietly with a book in the other! There are plenty of superb pubs in the vicinity for a tasty meal and we had a fabulous lunch at Y Polyn near the National Botanic Gardens. The owners were fabulous and able to assist with any queries and very helpful. We hope to return before too long as it was the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Great house for a large group. Having a kids sitting room and ample garden meant that kids had loads of space and we had lots of fun playing hide and seek. The house is well equipped with everything you would need and although remote it was easy to get out and about to explore the Welsh countryside.
Sharon
Beautiful House. Lovely and peaceful clean and well kept. Plenty of seating areas. massive fully enclosed garden safe for our two fur babies. Very close to Llandovery which has most things you will need. Id say do a shop before you arrive if you are wanting a big shop. Local chippy is lovely and pubs very dog friendly. Lovely onsite cat too really friendly we did give himher some milk and chicken owners are great very helpful and friendly too lovely welcome basket of goodies Thank you you can hear the train going past but not loud and we stayed in front bedroom. Plenty of storage space for your belongings. Hot Tub was great they had it ready for our arrival which was welcome we would definitely book this again great stay x

Had a lovely time at Tirallen, the house and grounds were gorgeous and plenty big enough for our group of 7 adults and 2 children. We loved the grounds and made the most of the hot tub, BBQ and the fire pit area. The children loved the friendly on site cat who was extremely partial to a plate of milk and some cat treats. Added bonus that some of our group got to fish in the river at the end of the lane and even caught some trout. The house was extremely well equipped and we appreciated our welcome pack. Communication with Catrin, the owner was excellent.
Great communication from the owner, welcome pack left on kitchen table was lovely. The property has a charm about it, the furnishings give an insight into its past, a working farm. Local culture is displayed in the locked show cases, rugby balls cricket memorabilia and programmes from local shows eisteddford. Six adults and two children spent a week relaxing here, using every room the hot tub was brilliant and the walks around the grounds were picturesque and productive. Lots of apples and pears as well as blackberries were foraged and eaten in pies made in the kitchen. The local cat befriended the girls and drank lots of milk! The local trains go past quickly and cause no problem with noise at all, occasionally a military plane or helicopter flew over which was a pleasant experience and local wildlife was abundant. Red kites, buzzards predominantly in the sky above and a fox could be heard in the evenings, the river has trout in it, as proved by a local fly fishermen. We really didnt want to leave, and this was our 13th Sykes booking, we intend to be back to check out the local gold mine! Book early, we left it too late. Thanks again for a wonderful week.

8 of us stayed over the weekend at Tirallen and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Theres plenty room in the house for all and a lovely garden and hot tub, which the owner kindly topped up for us midway through our stay. Fully equipped kitchen, lovely bedrooms, and enough bathrooms to never have a queue. Really good communication with the hosts and a very friendly cat on site, loved our stay and would definitely come back again!
Claire
We loved the home, one of the best well equipped homes we have stayed in. ... The owner was lovely, very helpful, lovely bottle of fizz and a card ....left for a Birthday. Lovely location, plenty of room for 10 people, clean and tidy, lovely bathrooms and nice dcor... Lovely Bathrooms, very clean Be aware it is on a quiet track but it is a working farm area, the farmers were still out until 1am, kept the whole house and a baby awake, which was not fun at all.... it was very loud..so very tired people the next day..... Few things to improve, better quality bed in the pink room, it dips in the middle, and creaks a lot, it was a very poor mattress, we had to used a single mattress and put on the floor, for a higher end home, better beds please I am very bed fussy they should be the best part of the house. Down stairs toilet doesn't lock and doors on cupboard are a bit tatty, 1 towel each isn't enough, for ladies, we need too, for hair and body, never had that before you always get a body and hair towel, No towels for hot tub either...
Family group of 8 adults, 2 children and 1 baby and 3 dogs. Lovely stay at this property, plenty of facilities for everyone. Adults and older children made full use of the hot tub, even in the rain!!! Dogs loved the size of the garden, although not fully secure the property was not close enough to roads to cause problems. Fantastic host who was available if needed. Would recommend to large groups.
Robert
Eight adults, 2 teenagers and one dog stayed for three nights in November. The house is so impressive but also incredibly cosy. The communication with Catrin was so easy and she made sure we had everything we needed. The welcome basket was also a lovely addition. Thank you so much! We had a great time x
Tatiana
Absolutely amazing! Perfect everything! Wonderful host
Victoria
Great property everything we needed. Being where it is gives you the solitude that we wanted. The dog loved being able to run round all day and we didnt have to worry about cars and other people spoiling his fun. At the end of the day, it was great to unwind and relax in the hot tub watching the night sky. Great place to stay and hope to get back there soon.
A group of 6 adults, 3 children and 2 large dogs stayed here for a week and we loved it! It is a little difficult to find with Sat Nav or Goggle maps so would definitely recommend using what 3 words app which takes you up to the front door! The host Caitlin and her family were amazing. Attentive and welcoming without being too much. Any questions we had were answered promptly. The grounds of the house are amazing! Our 3 children and dogs loved exploring all its nook and crannies! We would definitely recommend staying here!
Had a lovely week at this property would highly recommend, the property is not overlooked so peaceful and quiet perfect to unwind and relax.
Beautiful property well appointed and lots of thoughtful touches. We had a lovely family weekend in this delightful house. Absolutely spotless, lovely kitchen and very nice hosts. Wed definitely recommend and we expect to return to it as we all loved the house.
Really enjoyable week. The house is excellent, a good size and in a peaceful, pleasant setting. Comfortable beds which makes a pleasant change from some holiday homes. Owners were welcoming and quick to respond to any queries. Would happily stay again.

Our stay here at Tirallen was for business. Our company was involved with the Urdd Eisteddfod 2023. Our crew of 4 builders were very comfortable staying here. Catrin the owner is very efficient and helpful nothing was ever too much, and she looked after our crew very well. Beautiful house and was very clean and tidy, if we ever return to this area again, I will most definitely keep Tirallen in mind. Thanks again Catrin for everything, from NeptunusUK
Rachel
