Waveney Cottage Reviews

Just spent a fantastic week staying at Weveny Cottage. The house is amazing with so much character and charm but youd expect that from a house built around 1550. Thats not to say you dont have all the modern conveniences including a fabulous Aga stove. Ive never slept in such a large bed as the super king in the main bedroom. It was huge and so comfortable. We spent much of our downtime in the little sitting area attached to the kitchen when not in the hot tube as its so cozy and homely. Externally the large garden is great and the drive way is ideal for parking. I would 100 recommend staying at Waveney as its ideally located to visit both Norwich and Ipswich and the surrounding areas.
A beautiful wellappointed cottage with a peaceful garden. The views of the countryside are stunning with access to some delightful walks literally yards from the property. Everything you need for a restful vacation is provided by the owner and the standards of cleanliness are high.

Loved Waveney Cottage so much! We could not have found a more perfect cottage to stay in to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. It oozes character inside and out. The kitchen was so well equipped and we loved using the AGA cooker. Had some fascinating ornaments too, so cute. The owner was very kind and super helpful. A little hamper of local produce welcomed us on arrival and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch. We couldn't fault our stay and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a romantic getaway!
Colleen
Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cottage was very clean and very well equipped

We had the most wonderful experience and will definitely be visiting again! I don't say this lightly, but I really wouldn't want to stay in any other cottage. Well done Sally, I can cleary see how much time, effort and attention to detail You have put in. Thank you
Holiday cottages don't come any better than this one. Nothing more to say.
The property was lovely but there were a few nuggles toilet in main bedroom had a fault which meant the Macerator would operate when toilet not used, through the night, the hot tub was maintained properly after a few days use the water wasnt properly clean so we stopped using it towards end of week, water should be tested and adjusted through the week, garden was great, secure wise for our dog but it hadnt been maintained very well in our eyes.

Amazing cottage so warm and cozy lovely welcome pack loads of little extras great for dogs garden safe and great walks .
A cover across the hot tub so that is usable in inclement weather would be good.
The cottage is delightful and the walled garden was perfect for the dog to roam around. The Aga in the kitchen was a joy to use. Would definitely recommend getting the know the local butcher for your daily supply of locally sourced meat. My only comment would be the staircase would be difficult for anyone with concerns over mobility or balance not a problem for us during our stay.

Beautiful cottage filled with carefully chosen items, felt luxurious and personal. Large, dog safe garden with lots of native plants and outside furniture. Perfectly peaceful, yet less than 5 mins drive from local village with great shops, cafes and takeaway options.
A wonderful, quirky cottage loved the secure garden for our dog. The steep stairs are best descended backwards to prevent banging head on low beam. Bed very comfortable and a lovely stay. Will return!
Heather
Beautiful cottage, welcome hamper and two vases of fresh flowers such a lovely touch. Large garden was very secure for our dog who is an escape artist, we could leave the kitchen door open and not worry about her which was a bonus. Very large and comfortable bed, lots of places to visit nearby. Thank you Sally

Wonderful property. Very well equipped, and the Aga was a bonus on a chilly week. Quiet and peaceful location but only a mile and a bit from the nearest town. Very relaxing with the hot tub. One low doorway to be aware of I'm six foot so may not be a problem to most but not bad considering the age of the cottage and the stairs were a bit steep, but again not a problem. Great views all around. Lovely welcome pack awaited us. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Ronald
Excellent property with good facilities and well furnished. Very nice welcome pack. Large enclosed garden for a dog. Also hot tub very welcome. If we were to be a bit picky there were times when it was a bit cold and heating seemed to be pre set to come on in evening and go off in morning. Otherwise excellent property and would recommend it.

Beautiful cottage, we had a lovely time. The cottage is spacious, well equipped and full of character. The hot tub and bath were very relaxing. There are lots of lovely places to visit in the area. We had a lovely meal at The Fox and Goose pub a 5 min drive away and The Boarding House about 20 min drive too.
Christopher
Very comfortable and cosy, a lovely property to stay in.

We stayed for a long weekend this November which wasn't long enough, we didn't want to leave. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and well equipped. The Garden and surrounding areas are also amazing. I particularly loved all of the little vintage touches around the cottage in particular the kitchen. The cottage was also dressed for the season with lots of little Autumnal decorations. Absolutely stunning!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This a beautiful property, really well equipped with a lovely large secure garden. We loved the hot tub and the area was very peaceful but with enough to do close by. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at this beautiful cottage in August 2023, and found it to be everything the pictures promised and more We would like to thank the owner for her great communication and prompt responses to our questions, the provision of all the little touches and supplies that make such a stay memorable were spot on. . The use of the always on Aga was a delight and we had lovely freshly ironed clothes from Ms Aga each day My wife loved walking the surrounding fields nearby, the view out the breakfast room across the paddocks was a joy to us The local town of Harleston is close by and is charming and the local coop, medical centre, barbers and cafes teashop were all useful during our stay..
This is our third visit in seven months, that should say it all really. In our opinion this cottage is perfect and it is in a perfect location. Each time we have stayed here we have not wanted to leave, the cottage is so beautiful. Each time we have stayed Sally has left us the most wonderful welcome pack of local produce and lovely flowers. Thank you Sally. We cannot wait to return. Kind regards Alan & Diane

We had a wonderful week at Waveney cottage, it is such a beautiful place and contains every thing that you could possibly need for your stay. Very quiet and Relaxing.
Very much enjoyed our stay in a lovely thatched cottage.
Ronald
Lovely location, sighted several hares during our stay. Very nice cottage and garden.

Fabulous property, couldn't ask for any more. ..location great, quiet, peaceful very relaxing. Cottage so well equipped with everything you could need or wish for...we tackled some cooking on the AGA which was great fun...yes if you have mobility issues the stairs are a bit of a challenge and yes in the middle of the night on a toilet visit you may well bump your head on a low door but it's a 16th Century thatched cottage and a fantastic piece of history. We will definitely book again....Sally the owner was available for assistance and very helpful.
The cottage was spotless, very well maintained and comfortable. A lovely cosy place to relax and enjoy a break. Great location too! The owner was on the ball with communications too. The listing should be clearer about the staircase though. I had an older giant breed dog who just could not physically do the steep stairs. I imagine that mobility challenged folk would also struggle.
A lovely cottage full of character. Decorated to high standard. Tastefully furnished. Fully equipped for 4 people. The cottage is a historic property but equipped with all modern facilities. A fair sized enclosed garden for dogs. Good quiet location within easy reach to walks and tourist attractions in the area. The hot tub is maintained at right temperature at all times. I highly recommend this property.

We all enjoyed our week at Waveney cottage despite the weather not being very good. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and very comfortable and it is in a very peaceful location. However, we were a little confused by the Aga as the original description stated an Aga, electric oven and hob so we thought we had an alternative and booked the property on that basis which was a bit misleading. However, we conquered the Aga. We would have appreciated a warning about the tricky staircase and low beam. It is not safe or suitable for elderly people, our age group was 7585 with varying mobility problems. In other words we would not have booked the cottage on that basis. I think that a mention about this should be added In the description as it is a very important point. Also, the smaller bedroom ensuite toilet did not function properly. We were aware of the age of property and that it was listed and operated on LPG energy and in fact were very impressed by the spaciousness. The welcome package was very generous and the owner had gone to great lengths to make us comfortable, but had we known the disadvantages for our age group we would not have committed to it.
We had a wonderful Christmas at Waveney Cottage, 7 nights from 22122022. This cottage is furnished to the very highest of standards and is beautifully decorated, and also had two lovely Christmas Trees for our holiday. Everything in this cottage was spotlessly clean, every item you require and more is supplied. Bedding & towels are of the very highest quality. Thank you Sally for the most overwhelming welcome pack. We are already looking to return soon. Kind regards Alan & Diane Cheshire.

Would be nice to have a slow cooker and a air fryer more mugs and plates then ... Would be nice to have a slow cooker and a air fryer more mugs and plates then the dishwasher could go on less welcome pack was excellent
The cottage has bundles of charm and is very comfortable, the aga is lovely to cook on,and the hot tub was brilliant to chat and relax in. The bed was very comfortable all in all a brilliant property to stay in. Many thanks to Sally and Caroline for a wonderful week.
