Aln Cottage (alnwick), Alnwick

We have stayed here before. It is a perfect location, with parking. This time the house was not as cared for as previously. The house is in need of some TLC. The tiles in the bathroom had black mould. The side tables were missing large patches of paint. Generally clean and tidy, reasonably well equipped. We will be happy to return, just wondered if it had changed hands?

Aln cottage is very well situated to explore Alnwick and the wider area . Having your own car space is really helpful. The cottage is welcoming, very clean and well maintained. The living room is very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and the bedroom is comfortable. We liked the puffin and sheep themes in the bedrooms. It made us smile .This is a cottage we would be happy to return to . Our dog voted with his paws. He loved it .

Another excellent week. We enjoy the situation, right in the centre of Alnwick. The house is small but cosy and comfortable.

This is a great property. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is right in the centre of Alnwick and within walking distance of the castle and gardens. A perfect location to explore a lovely part of the country.

We both loved the accommodation and its closeness to the town. The house was very clean and warm, the only thing we felt the living room would benefit from would be a couple of lamps to be able to read better and add to the already feeling of cosiness .

The property is perfectly positioned tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised street but a couple of minutes' walk from Alnwick's attractive centre. Plenty of shops and places to eat within walking distance, as are attractions such as the castle, Alnwick Garden and Barter Books. The house itself is cosy with a good layout and everything needed for a comfortable stay. We'd happily book again in the future.

We really enjoyed our week in Aln Cottage it's cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a holiday. It's also perfectly located in the centre of Alnwick so close to everything but tucked away enough to be peaceful. We'll definitely come back if only for the robot chair and sofa which are so comfortable and perfect for an evening curled up reading!

Good location for shops and buses. Very comfortable. Kitchen very tired and needs replacing. Got quite cold in the evenings so used electric fire in lounge although the welcome book in the cottage said the heating was on a timer but didnt come on. Toilet brush needs replacing and we did leave a note for the owner. On arrival did have trouble getting in front door as someone had left latch on top lock. One of the locals showed us where the back entrance was.

Aln Cottage felt like a home from home. It is in a great location with its own parking. It is extremely comfortable and was fully equipped. The only thing I would add would be a coffee machine. This was our first stay back in Northumberland for 9 years and wouldnt hesitate booking this cottage again. The owners should be rightly proud.

Aln Cottage is a gem, quietly situated, comfortable, warm and well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much so we have booked to return in October.

Lovely cottage. Clean and very well equipped, and in a great location. So handy for the town. Having a parking space was an added and much appreciated bonus. Will definitely return.

Cosy little cottage, right in the heart of Alnwick but tucked away in a quiet lane. Everything was provided for and there were also a few nice touches such as treats for our dog, DVDs, puzzle books etc. Parking arrangements were refreshingly simple as well. We would definitely stay at Aln Cottage again.

This is our second stay here and we've booked to return end of November. a very clean, warm welcoming cottage. we loved the new sofa, really comfy and as i have a spinal issue, it was perfect. as we don't have dogs, its good going somewhere which doesn't smell of them. wouldn't know they are allowed. Just wondered if the cleaner could remember to check cupboards in kitchen. i found two half eaten packs of moldy biscuits!! the other minor point is not having wardrobe space, isn't a problem as we use the spare room but its not mentioned how tight the space is and no storage . some guests may find it a problem. the milk and coffee bags were a nice surprise thankyou.

Very comfortable, cosy cottage in the centre of town but in a quiet pedestrian area with it's own parking. Lovely to be able to stay with our dog and explore several footpaths out into the countryside, without needing the car.

Had a fabulous holiday in this great little gem. Our first time visiting Northumberland and Aln Cottage was ideally positioned for seeing all the sights and beautiful countryside. It was great that we had a parking space and could walk to the castle and pubs and restaurants. The cottage had everything you need and was clean and comfy. It is in the middle of everything but so peaceful as it is tucked away down a little passageway. Highly recommend it. We had a brilliant time. The cottage and the area exceeded our expectations.

The cottage was lovely, clean and cosy. The parking space was an excellent addition and the position of the cottage was perfect for walking into Alnwick, visiting the castle and visiting places in the surrounding area. would definitely stay again!

Great property in an excellent location right in the centre of Alnwick with a designated parking space. Lots of attractive features like the puffin designs and the lovely old books in the small bedroom.

Loved the whole experience of the cottage, Alnwick and the wider Northumberland area. Locals lovely, neighbours lovely and a great parking spot as I drive a pickup truck. Bed amazingly comfy and loved the lounge chairs that , at the click of a switch turned into luxury slouching chairs. I've genuinely never been on one of these before. As others have said cottage is a little dated in the kitchen but absolutely nothing wrong with it, I'm still using a similar era kitchen at home with no plans to change. Minute gripes.... Front door can be a bit difficult to open but I do have arthritis in my thumbs. Could do with advice on what to do with glass for recycling. We couldn't find anywhere not that we were searching high and low so bought bottles home with us. Finally, if I read your instructions correctly, a dog isn't supposed to go anywhere in the cottage but the kitchen. This is not practical. Fully appreciate not letting them upstairs but we weren't going to even try and stop our little jack russell girl joining us in the lounge. She knows she's not allowed on furniture or to put her paws on them, she doesn't at home either so we trust her. Anyway, love to stay with you again in the near future, thanks for a great week

Nice stay at Aln Cottage. Feel it could do with updating slightly in the kitchen and bathroom. Enjoyed the reclining chair and sofa. Double bed mattress was a bit lumpy and again could probably do with a new one. Great location and was bigger downstairs than I expected.

Cottage lively, situation ideal, curtains in main bedroom need blackout linings, awake at 6am each evening. Thought back yard enclosed, need to state not to people with dogs.

A very comfortable cottage and veryconvient for all surrounding places to visit with,not too far to travel. Very comfortable furniture to sit on after a long days walking.

Aln Cottage is perfect for a trip to Northumberland. It is in the beautiful town of Alnwick and it was good to have the parking space along with the cottage. We were warm and cosy and the furnishings are very comfortable.

We only had one minor hiccup. We could not fathom how to get the drier to work. No matter how we tried it would run for ten minutes then turn off. We just used the airer instead Everything else was lovely

Lovely property, really well located and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The owner has been really thoughtful on giving it a homely feel. Our only recommended improvement would be the water pressure and temperature control in the shower. It was very temperamental and you had to run it for a long time before the temperature became regulated. Did not ruin our stay though and would definitely book again if returning to the area.

A lovely short stay for New Year at Aln Cottage. Location is perfect and the cottage was very comfortable, as was the bed. We got to see the MUSICAL CHRISTMAS show at the Playhouse which was excellent.The Playhouse is a lovely theatre and would recommend it if there is anything on. We would definitely stay again.

We really appreciated the central location of the house. We were both starting to develop sore backs from sitting on the couch and suggest this is well overdue an upgrade. We found the shower unreliable and found that using without the central heating being in use almost impossible to get a warm shower. Unfortunately the main bedroom radiator developed a leak from the control valve on the Thursday morning, tryed to contact by phone on the number supplied,. Gave up after ringing for nearly 3 minutes,...no answer system? Sent an email to yourselves and left a note for the cleaner.

Comfortable and homely. A lotof thought has obviously gone into making Aln Cottage as 'home from home' as possible. There is plenty to do and see in Alnwick and it's a great base if you want to venture further afield. Not having to worry about parking is a massive plus.

We have stayed here before and hopefully will return again next year. The cottage is like a home from home. Its very well equipped and loved the little touches like the milk welcome tray and flowers. Very cosy and will recommend to my friends and family.

Lovely cottage, well provided with kitchen equipment, comfortable beds. Ideal for exploring Alnwick as central to the town. Ideal for attraction further away.

Absolutely loved the cottage it was a beautiful home from home. Very well equipped house .very clean when we got there.Alnwick was a brilliant base for us as no where was far away.We will certainly be back next year.

Very cosy and comfotable, but as i am a house keeper to a holiday propeety back home , i became aware of what wasnt good. the tap in bath doesnt fit properly, getting hot water was a daily challenge. when using toilet, i noticed the nearly empty loo roll was still there plus a new one. this was not hygienic. the kitchen cupboards are dirty and sticky,grater is blunt. the brown sofa has seen better days and food and hair still visable down sides of it, not nice. this could be so much better very quickly, maybe shadow the cleaner.

A lovely cottage close to town centre with all its amenities. Very clean well presented and equipped. A pleasure to stay there. Enjoyed week in Northumberland very much. Will certainly return.

We absolutely adored this beautiful cottage. A real home from home. And perfectly placed for exploring wonderful Northumberland and all its glorious castles and beaches. But also a perfect spot to totally relax and unwind and enjoy a meal out and some shopping and walks by the river.

The cottage was advertised as having a TV and DVD player. However, I could not get the DVD to connect with the TV. On Sunday and Monday I telephoned Sykes for someone to fix it. A plumber arrived on Wednesday with a more modern DVD player he pointed out that the existing player had Scart connectors not compatible with the more modern TV. He seemed to know what the trouble was. If so, why wasn't the new DVD player already installed? The bathroom sink hot tap was badly worn and needed either a new washer or replacement. The nonslip rubber bath mat was perished and split.. It came apart when lifted from the bath.

A lovely wee cottage ideally situated a 2 minute walk from Alnwick Town centre. Dedicated parking space is a bonus. The cottage is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. A real home from home
