East Havers Reviews

East Havers is in a great location. Very quiet inside. Very comfortable accommodation . Friendly and helpful neighbours. All in all a great stay. Small bedroom needs a rail in the cupboard to be able to hang up clothes. Otherwise, just some minor housekeeping comments. As others have said you can hear the A1 when you sit in the garden. Would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely few days in this cottage. the sitting room had a bit of a doggy smell we don't have a dog so, may be a bit more noticable and we could'nt find much info on how to use induction hob or where the bins were kept then, a knock on the door and there stood Chris with arms full of chocolate goodies and a wealth of knowledge x.
Had everything we needed, garden was a nice size for the dog and secure.

Absolutely loved it. Only thing my daughter mentioned was that the cupboard behind the door in the single bedroom could be converted into a wardrobe. Would not hesitate to come again.
Stephen
A gem of a cottage. Very comfortable and secure with a great friendly and kind local community nearby.
Roderick
Lovely spacious and comfortable barn conversion. Kitchen very good for those who don't eat out all the time. Garden needed some tlc and was very noisy from A1M but fine in house. Only issue was a drain smell in washer cupboard. Had a fantastic break, thankyou
Michael
Great place to stay great location and Chris who lives in one of the properties is really friendly and helpful

Had a lovely long weekend in Northumberland with our 2 dogs. Really enjoyed staying at East Havers, it had everything we were looking for along with a great enclosed garden. We received a lovely welcome goody pack too which was very unexpected. Lots of lovely places and beaches to visit which kept the dogs happy. Would thoroughly recommend staying here as close to all amenities as well as quite rural.
We have had a lovely week at East Havers. Home from Home. Lovely and clean. Everything included what you would need for a weeks holiday. Would highly recommend a comfortable stay.
On arrival we was greeted by Chris who had a box of chocolates and pack of cookies, with a warm welcome, also there was 2 welcome packs containing tea bags, dishwashing tablets etc very good. Cottage was clean and tidy with everything on the door step, as the cottage is close to the A1 you do hear traffic noise but it's not extreme and you do sleep, beds extremely comfortable
Beautiful property. Well kept and fully equipped. Lots of storage space if staying for a few days. Chris came to greet us and was extremely friendly and helpful. The garden was perfect and completely safe for our two young dogs. Very peaceful location with parking directly outside the property. Welcome tea, coffee, milk and biscuits provided. Also provided a small pack of washing up products. Dog water bowl in kitchen cupboard. Very convenient for Alnwick which is extremely dog friendly. Beach is a short drive away. Would highly recommend this cottage if you want peace and quiet with freedom for your dogs.

We had a lovely four night stay at East Havers. The location may put you off due to its proximity to the A1 but please do not let it, once inside the cottage you cannot hear the traffic noise. We loved how friendly the residents of the neighbouring cottages were. We had the most perfect weather which meant we were out and about a lot of the time. The beds were extremely comfortable and we felt very relaxed and at home. We had a couple of beautiful meals at the Horseshoes Inn which is located in Rennington, would highly recommend but booking for Sundays and evenings is advisable
What a perfect place to stay . .spotlessly clean , very comfortable and so well equipped. What a lovely gesture that the neighbour popped in on behalf of the owners with lovely coffee, chocolates and biscuits . He also told us good restaurants nearby . Also has a welcome pack of washing up liquid , sponge and cloths and another with coffee, tea and cookies . The garden was ideal for our two border terrier and it was lovely to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. This is the first time visiting the area and we loved it ..so friendly , great sightseeing and some delicious restaurants! Cant wait to go back . Thank you East Havers !
Christine
It was a lovely cottage handy for all local sightseeing areas . Chris across the yard was very helpful as were the immediate neighbours very friendly would definitely go back .
Michelle
Lovely clean cottage . Wonderful welcome pack and friendly gentleman on site to help with anything .Great bath towels and bedding .. Really enjoyed our stay . Thank you .
Just returned from a fab stay at East Havers, perfectly positioned for easy access to Alnwick, surrounding villages and M&S foodhall 2 mins away! Neighbour Chris made us very welcome popping over with some lovely goodies, a perfect way to start our holiday! Loved our stay and would definitely return as it wasn't long enough. The cottage has a modern feel to it, clean, nice comfy furniture and perfect for self catering, everything you need in the kitchen, plenty of glasses, crockery, cutlery even an air fryer! We had small welcome pack with teacoffeemilk and cleaning pack with dishwasher tabs, liquid, soaps in the kitchen and bathroom, plenty of loo rolls, tea towels and kitchen roll also included. Now just to work out when we can return to investigate more of the stunning Northumberland coast!
Had a lovely stay at East Havers and nice to meet Chris who came bearing gifts. Lovely accommodation but 2 minor points was the hand shower in bathroom was broken and lack of toilet roll strangely. Tried to rebook in September but unfortunately fully booked until next January. Shame!
We booked East Havers for proximity to A1 and within walking distance of the Hogs Head Inn also close to M&S and other supermarkets as well as only a short drive to the coast. It didn't disappoint the cottage was very comfortable and the resident neighbours very helpful especially Chris who also brought lovely welcome gifts. With all the positives I can't understand why there is still only 1 loo roll provided and no soap in the kitchen and bathroom it seems somewhat penny pinching and all other Sykes rentals we have enjoyed include these items. The road noise from the A1 didn't stop us enjoying the garden but it would be nice if there were some trees screening the 2 static caravans at the bottom of the garden.
Loved our stay got married while here . Cottage was very comfortable and the neighbours were very helpful .The welcome gifts from Chris were a lovely surprise and most appreciated. The garden was very private and with lovely flowers in bloom and very peaceful.would highly recommend this cottage.
A lovely property in a quiet location, however a busy road nearby that you can hear in the garden but not in the cottage. A great enclosed garden for children and dogs. The cottage was lovely and very well equipped with everything needed. It was 5 minutes drive from Alnwick and close to a big M&S food store. We received some lovely welcome goodies from the owner which were really appreciated. I really recommend the property.

Had a really good time. Lovely comfortable cottage. Location wise for us was great as access to the whole of the Northumberland coast was easy. Its not in the middle of the countryside which suited us. Really nice welcome pack of coffee, chocolates and biscuits delivered by the neighbour. Would have appreciated a loo roll in the welcome pack, otherwise well equipped. Would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful holiday property was lovely neighbours were very friendly great location. Thank you!
Hayley
Very spacious cottage, tastefully decorated, well equipped. Good outdoor space for the dog, very friendly people. Welcome pack and cleaning pack provided were well received. Excellent location for exploring beautiful Northumberland coast, we will definitely be back! Only very minor gripes lacking in glassware, more than 1 toilet roll needed for 4 days, no hand soap in the bathroom.
Rachel
Lovely well equipped and cosy cottage in an ideal location, close to the coastline for lovely scenery and walks. Thank you to Chris the lovely neighbour who greeted us with chocolates and wine, very kind.
Rachel
We had a great week staying at East Havers. The weather was kind to us too! The cottage ticked all the boxes for us. It was very clean, the decor and furnishings were excellent, well equipped kitchen with an air fryer. The back garden was perfect and securely fenced for our dog. Big thank you to Chris the lovely neighbour who came across to us with wine, chocolates and coffee and made us welcome. The cottage is ideally located to get to many of the gorgeous beaches along the coast line Cheswick, Bamburgh, Embleton, Alnmouth, Low Newton which we walked along each day. Will definitely book to go back again!
We recently spent Christmas at this delightful cottage, and it exceeded all our expectations. The property was impeccably maintained, offering every amenity we could have hoped for, making it a true home away from home. The owner's thoughtful touches, facilitated through their intermediaries, significantly enhanced our stay, adding warmth and personal attention that made us feel truly welcome. The local residents were equally charming, extending kindness and hospitality that enriched our experience. Despite the cottage's proximity to the A1, we were pleasantly surprised by the tranquility. Inside, the road was inaudible, and even outdoors, the noise was minimal, thanks to the front courtyard's clever configuration that effectively muffled any sound. Our family of three, along with our two dogs, enjoyed a magical Christmas getaway here. The combination of a wellappointed cottage, attentive hosts, friendly neighbors, and serene surroundings made it an unforgettable holiday.
Lovely cottage, very clean with everything you need. Great neighbour who popped over with wine and chocolates. Good location. Would definitely use this again and recommend to friends. Close to shops and all beaches.
As listed this was a cosy let in a quiet area. The furnishings and rooms were clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable bathroom very good. Everything was catered for beautifully and nice and warm. The garden for the first time was very very secure and I did not worry about the fencing it was solid and high with no gaps. We were close to shops and restaurants and had the perfect base to visit all the local attractions. We had a great time. Also a special thanks to Chris for being so welcoming.
We had a brilliant stay in this cottage, we were greeted with a knock at the door with a bottle of wine, box of chocolates and coffee. The accommodation its self was very clean and was perfect for us especially having dogs with us as it had a great sized garden. Thank you
Jennifer
We had a lovely few days at East Havers with our two labradors. Cottage was comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Welcome pack was great, and the neighbours very friendly and helpful. Only improvement would be a stair gate to keep the dogs downstairs, and improved signposting explanation of the correct set of bins for the cottage.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at East Havers. Friendly neighbours around the courtyard, the chap across the way gave us wine, chocolates and filter coffee on behalf of Chris the owner which was a kind and thoughtful touch. Thank you. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and easily kept warm with the already set heating times on control panel. Hot water was plentiful. There is a bus stop either side of the road at entrance to Greensfield Moor Farm with regular buses, we caught the Arriva x15, the timetable service we used was to and from Lionheart Enterprise Park, easily looked up on mobile phone. Halfway down the approach road to the cottage is a field with a track across to The Hog's Head which is very dog friendly and we ate there and had drinks on numerous occasions, just be sure to carry a torch if you are likely to be returning to accommodation after dark. Car parking in Alnwick is by way of display a disc and these can be purchased for 1. We bought ours from Northumbria Pet Shop but alternatively the Library at The Playhouse will sell them. We have no hesitation in recommending this property.

This was our second visit to East Havers and it was as good as before. It was comfortable and a good size for two people and a dog. Had a lovely welcome gift on arrival from Chris which was very nice, we hope to be back again soon.
Excellent location for exploring! Yes it is near A1 unless you sit out it won't affect you. Beautifully decorated and great facilities. The neighbour Chris was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the lovely gifts and the home grown onions!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at East Havers. The house itself was beautiful with lovely furnishings and made for a comfortable place to relax after days out exploring the surrounding areas, the smart TVs were amazing and allowed us to keep up with football and news and our Netflix programmes the location was perfect everything we needed. The location was also perfect for travelling north or south and it was easy to access local shops on foot and walking the dog. The garden was large and spacious and a nice place to relax in weather permitting. Shoutout to the amazing friendly neighbour Chris who welcomed us and made us aware he was around to help if needed. Overall it was a 10 out of 10 stay and we wouldnt hesitate to come back.

Lovely week spent at at East Havers. The cottage was beautifully furnished and finished to a high standard. It was lovely and comfortable and equipped with everything you needed for a relaxing break. The thoughtful welcome gifts of wine, chocolates and coffee were a delightful touch.
Really felt at home in the property and we were made welcome by the friend of the owner who lived in a neighbouring property. The only reason I would not want to recommend it would be encouraging people to go when I might like to be going back there. Very clean and well presented, good facilities, good enclosed garden for our dog to sit in.
One of the poorest, most disappointing holiday cottages Ive stayed in certainly with Sykes which is a shame because almost all of the problems could be fixed at no or very little cost. The property was dirty the smell hit you immediately on walking inside and was pervasive. The floors were covered in bits, even the crockery had bits of food stuck to all the dishes and plates. The place was teeming with wildlife cobwebs everywhere and daddy long legs crawling out when you moved anything. Basically needed a thorough clean and clearly hadnt had one for some time. A few things seemed very basic not even a bar of soap in the bathroom and only one poor quality loo roll to last the week potentially between 3 people not up to Sykes usual standards and I would have much preferred a few basics to fancy wine and coffee. Garden was overgrown and grass wasnt cut all week, despite leaving the gate unlocked all week for the gardener and apparently hadnt been cut the previous week as the people staying there had locked the gate so the gardener couldnt get in. A pretty major downside was that it was blighted by road noise from the A1 which was about 50 yards from the rear of the property. You should state this in the property details as there is nothing to indicate this and the photos make it look as if its in the middle of the countryside. Finally, my only request while I was away was where to find the key to the patio door in the lounge. I raised this as soon as I arrived and nobody got back to me by the time I left even to say youd been unable to find out where it was. Again, a pretty poor show. So all in all very disappointing.
Lovely holiday cottage on the edge of Alnwick and walking distance to a lovely pub. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Enjoyed our stay.
Lovely property with everything we could need. The bed was comfy and the facilities were all good efficient heating and hot water, good bedding and towels etc. The kitchen is really well appointed and the modern induction hob was a revelation for me, I loved it. Chris the neighbour was really friendly and helpful and the gifts were much appreciated. Location was great for exploring the area although just a little too far out not to have to use the car for Alnwick itself but no big issue. Parking right outside the property. The only negative for some people especially in summer may be the proximity to the A1 which is really close. No problem for us in early spring and it's quiet in the house due to huge thick walls. But with windows open in summer it would be noisier so bear in mind. Otherwise though, a lovely stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
