Argal Reviews

Generally speaking the property was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space for the three of us. However we found there was an inadequate supply of crockery, cutlery and glassware. A nonslip mat for the bath would have been appreciated as it was very slippery and awkward to access. Only one key was made available which was a problem when we wanted to come and go at different times. There was no system for dealing with recyclables. The additional leisure facilities needed some updating. So a few things to improve on, but having said all that, we did enjoy our stay.

A lovely place to stay and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly.
Fitted the bill for what we wanted with the other cottages
We were offered Argal as a replacement for our cancelled destination, first impression are great, and the host very friendly and helpful, but there are underlying issues going on, so the property is getting a bit tired. First thing you notice is the banister glass missing and straps in its place, the property is clean but could have been cleaner, hair in bath and on floor, bedroom cupboards most of them missing handle, blinds broken or missing, lack of locking implaments, ie saucepans, bed was really to soft for me so suffered bad with my back all week. Sofa and chair not comfortable. The one rule that Annoyed me what's the dogs on leads, I complied with that rule while I was there , but there was two dogs that were allowed to run around a greyhound and a lurcher which defecated indifferent areas, I cleaned up one lot not wanting to get the blame, but thought why should I when I found more. If you have trouble with stairs do not book Argal as the stone steps are high and a little steep, no problem for me but my partner struggled. On a high, great place if you have kids or you are a keen fisherman. My overall star rating at its present moment would be 3.5.
We had a lovely time here in the Argal. The apartment was relatively clean, it had all the mod cons, the bed was comfortable enough, plenty of storage. Great field for the dogs, didnt get chance to use the jacuzzi or bar. All in all I was pleased. If youre looking for 5 accommodation this isnt it, however I wouldnt expect somewhere that accepts dogs to be absolutely spotless. Ian was accommodating and friendly. Generally a lovely break.

As a family of 11 we stayed in Helford and Argal, we could not fault the location, facilities and the accommodation. The on site facilities are brilliant, Dart board, pool table, playstation, table tennis and hot tub. There is also a tennis court which was closed during our stay due to the time of year. We would highly recommend and would love to visit again next year.
Great place to stay it has everything you need. Myself,Wife and two teenage kids stayed here for a week and love it. Has loads of things to keep you all entertained and also in close distance to some stunning beaches. We will definitely be back
We've spent a relaxing week in June at the Argal and highly recommend this accommodation. Plenty of space and wonderful views of the Cornish countryside. Dog friendly.
The Argal apartment situated at Treverva Farm is in a really good location to be able to explore Cornwall. Argal is modern and nicely decorated the bedrooms and bathroom are generous in size with extremely comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped with modern oven microwave induction hob fridge freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen does need additional crockery limited glass wear and only 4 bowls plates side plates and mugs but we managed. The stools at the breakfast bar are a bit too high beautiful to look at but not as practical or comfortable to use. The area is wonderfully quiet and peaceful lovely for the dogs with a great exercise area to stretch their legs first and last thing each day. If mobility is not a problem theres a walk down the field to the Argal reservoir footpath a walk around the whole reservoir takes around an hour unless like us you stop and enjoy a coffee and cake at the cafe half way round. The Red Lion pub and New inn are close by both served delicious food probably best to book and Windjammer in Falmouth was also fabulous. We had a wonderful week and loved our stay Ian was on hand for any questions highly recommended.

We had a great time Argal. The beds were super comfy as was the front room. Hot tub was great as was the games room. All facilities were good. Also, nice and warm in the accommodation. The dog running field was great. I would love to visit in the Summer and have a go on the tennis court. Good location for visiting Newquay, Mevagissey, Charlestown, Flushing etc.. Falmouth has lots of nice eateries and quirky shops. Verdant Brewery is a great spot to have a drink and pizza. The quarry for zip lining is 5 mins away which my boys enjoyed.
This property is a simply amazing place to stay, very clean and tidy, fantastic facilities. You really couldnt ask for more. Fanastic location to visit Falmouth, Truro and other fabulous locations. Situated on a farm, the animals are all very friendly. This is also a dog friendly cottage. Lots of great eating places nearby.
Good hosts and excellent accommodation. Easy parking. Accommodation is comfortable and well planned and all necessary kitchen utensils are provided. A small bar is available for guests to enjoy their own drinks and a pool table, Bluetooth jukebox and darts are provided. Children will love the animals around the property.

Absolutely lovely, we had a beautiful holiday in Cornwall. The animals on the farm were lovely too, it was so quiet, but within a few miles, right in the heart of Falmouth with restaurants and lots to do. We would book again.
We really liked our stay here. The place has a certain charm which we really enjoyed. Our daughter enjoyed going to see the animals kept on the farm and the property is set in an idyllic rolling landscape which serves as a great base to explore Cornwall. We visited Falmouth, St Mawes, and Trelissick Gardens during our short stay, all of which are within easy commuting distance by car. We were super impressed for the price we paid and would visit this property again. Argal Lake is just down the hill and we went walking around there too. The owners were on hand to answer our questions. The communal hot tub was easy to book and we had no issues getting a spot in it. Theres a rented stable on the property and our daughter enjoyed talking to the people who kept horses there, all of which were very accommodating and kind to our daughter shes four and asks many questions

Gorgeous location, lovely cottage, from active teenagers to our dog, theres something for all members of the family to stay occupied ! great info in the guide welcome book thanks for a wonderful stay.
A really lovely place to stay in a great setting, close to some great beaches and Falmouth. The property has lots of great facilities, lovely comfy beds, and very hospitable owners.

We absolutely loved the location and the apartment, the owners are also lovely however the extra touches and finishing just werent there. Cobwebs, no hand soap or spare toilet rolls, not as clean and facilities were shut even though no additional covid measures were in place anywhere! It felt like they didnt really want to look after the communal areas which were the main reason we booked this. Also I do think the hot tub fee should be included in the price. To pay 40 for us all on top of the booking price for just the hot tub, no robes as advertised and no changing facilities we thought was a bit too much. This place was great to stay at but it felt a bit rushed between Christmas and new year. Attention to detail and use of the facilities or at least notice that they were closed would make this 5 star!

We had a wonderful stay this week at the holiday cottages! Marvellous accommodation, spacious, clean and plenty of room for parking too! Big thanks to Ian for being an outstanding host, super friendly and accommodating. Were already missing it! Along with the Billie and Willie the goats!
Nicola
Our accommodation was as advertised, friendly welcome by the owner Ian on arrive. Argal kitchen had everything you needed. Lovely lake at the bottom of the property to explore. Loved the goats and the cows very friendly. Great location to explore Cornwall.
The site on which the argal cottage is located is absolutely perfect and you ... The site on which the argal cottage is located is absolutely perfect and you will be more than happy with you decision to holiday there, and the location of the argal cottage we believe really perfect to travel from in order to see Cornwall ,
We had fabulous time here, Argal is in a beautiful area with access & views directly onto the Reservoir. Fabulous location for this area of Cornwall with easy access to other areas, the accommodation is clean, comfortable and welcoming. We took our dog and found the 'dog friendly' small paddock an extra benefit. The Games room too was an unexpected but great addition. All in all a great short break and if we are in the area again would definitely use again. Loved the resident Goats and Horse too.
The cottage is situated in a beautiful area. Our hosts Ian and Michaela were so welcoming. We loved Falmouth itself and walking South West Coast path Great holiday.
Absolutely stunning spotlessly clean and with everything you need in a holiday rental. Would not hesitate to stay here again as great location and welcoming hosts. Can highly recommend!
It was a lovely place to stay it's such a shame that the facilities such as the bar were closed, but that is not the fault of the owners. Lovely welcome and very comfortable. Fantastic beds!!
Hilary
Argal was a perfect base for our holiday and we had a fabulous week there. We loved the furnishings and decor in Argal which we found to be comfortable, wellequipped, spacious and very homely too. It was great to be greeted by friendly goats and vocal Dexter cattle after a day walking the Cornish coastal paths, and what a bonus to have Argal Lake on the doorstep, providing a lovely Sunday morning stroll down through the fields. Treverva Farm is a great place to stay to explore the Helford area and the Lizard Peninsula, and we look forward to returning some day.

Comfortable accommodation in fantastic location. Everything from the appartment to the private pub with pool table was spot on. Generous and helpful hosts, interesting and fun livestock, great surroundings. Our family of four had an absolutely fabulous stay. Warmly recommended!
Barbara
The apartment was really nice and well equipped, no traces of other dogs. The bar was well stocked and a pleasant place to spend time in. The hosts were very friendly and the surrounding area was quite beautiful especially Helford Passage village with the Shipwrights Inns good food.
Ashton
The whole experience was brilliant,Ian was a most hospitable host nothing was too much of a problem. We would highly recommend this property.
A lovely place to stay. Convenient location from which to explore west Cornwall, yet set quietly away providing peace and tranquility for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation itself was spacious enough for four with good sized bedrooms and very well appointed. An excellent place all round!
Everything that you could ask for in a marvelous setting. Countryside and easy access to lovely beaches. The property was first class and the beds made it difficult to want to get up until you saw what was outside your window. The property owners were very nice people who made us feel very welcome. We will return
Amazing holiday cottage with fantastic surroundings. The owners are great and very accommodating. Highly recommend
The cottage was extremely well furnished and immaculate. The welcome basket was a great surprise. Fresh bread cornish butter to name bit a few. The hosts were very welcoming and only to pleased To help with recomendations for eating out etc. Great cottage, great location, great hosts. Would definitely recommend and will be back again Regards
Treverva Farm is a beautiful location, with superb accommodation. The walk around Argal reservoir each morning with the dog was one of the high points of the holiday. The location is not far from any of the beaches, which makes Treverva an ideal launching point without too much driving. The farm was exceptionally dog friendly and has a safe exercise field in which to take your dog. All in all we had a fantastic week's stay and would recommend it to anyone. A big thanks to Ian and Michaela for making us so welcome.

From the minute we arrived, we knew we had picked the right cottage for our holiday. Ian, Michaela, Lewis and of course all the animals made us feel so welcome. The cottage is stunning and finished to the highest standard. You have everything you need for a fantastic holiday. The farm is amazing and I dare anyone not to fall in love with Willie and Billie the goats! Iggy our cocker spaniel, loved going to see them and the beautiful Dexter calves and running around with Marlowe, the resident springer. The bar on the farm complete with pool table is a really great touch and all the drinks are priced really well. The location is excellent and so easy to reach some amazing places in Cornwall. There are great dog walking areas and beaches within a few miles and all the local pubs offer amazing food. We will definitely be back!
Great place to enjoy Cornwall , very nice welcoming family with a great dog Marlow , cant fault anything about this accommodation and location, will definitely return. Nice touch with the on site bar
Garfield
The flat was well equipped and in a wonderful location. A car is needed but the centre of Falmouth is only a 10minute drive. There is a great view of Argal lake which is accessed directly from the property. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. For our 7year old there was a trampoline she could use and a great dog, Marlow, who she adored. Its a quiet escape but close enough to many places of interest, so the best of both worlds. We would definitely recommend and are planning when we can go back again.
Lovely well furnished property with access to beautiful lake Argal. Very friendly hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go again to any if the three properties at the site.
Sophie
We had a wonderful stay at Argal! The accommodation was lovely and Ian, Michaela and Lewis were so welcoming and the perfect hosts. The location was perfect for our family trips out. The farm itself was beautiful and made the trip that bit more special thanks to Billie and Willie the goats and Marlowe the dog! We would love to come back! Thank you!
Wow what a place and great hosts
