Boxwood Cottage, Troutbeck

Lovely place, very clean and comfortable and in a great location with fab views. We highly recommend. Only marked down slightly on maintenance as there was only 1 loo roll for two loos when we arrived and we arrived a bit late for a dash out. Note to guests to remember some!

What a lovely property in the most beautiful location of Troutbeck. The views from the property are fantastic, so peaceful just what we needed. Our dog loved it as well. The property has a well fitted kitchen, comfortable lounge and large dinning table. The main bedroom is spacious with a comfortable large bed with great views and ensuite. The second double bedroom is comfortable with a separate bathroom. The whole property is finished to a high standard. Private parking off road was welcome and travelling to Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside and Keswick very easy. We had a lovely break at Boxwood Cottage and we were blessed with beautiful weather. Would highly recommend it.

Perfect property for a relaxing getaway with our 5 month old baby and 5 year old dog! The cottage has everything we needed and was spacious with a cosy feel. Great location, great views, loved it!

Our recent stay was enjoyable & accommodation was cosy & comfy as wed expected . Views from the living room & main bedroom were stunning as was the surroundings . Area was local to all amenities but felt very rural also , pub is only a short walk as was the local cafe both serving great food & drink . Few points that concerned us Although I do appreciate parking is at a premium the access to allocated parking bay 1 is restrictive & made more so with other cottages sharing the area coupled with poor lighting makes parking a larger car very awkward . The road is directly outside the front door no pavement so would have concerns staying with small children pets , its marked as a 20 mph but they fly past at some rate . We made full use of the electric heating & wood burning stove downstairs but upstairs was freezing cold & every attempt to reset the programming wasnt happening . There was a sour smell coming the couch on the right hand side which we assume someone has spilt something . Lastly & more of personal touch it wouldve been nice to have a welcome pack waiting upon arrival not a cleaning pack . Does make a big difference having a few tea bags or something local to the area . All in all we did enjoy our stay .

Boxwood cottage was lovely, very cosy and well looked after. It had all the bits and bobs that you could need while away. The views were out of this world, sitting reading a book in the morning watching the sun over the hills from the living room was beautiful. The beds need their own mention, they were so very cosy even our 9 year old slept in every day!!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cottage. The location was perfect for hikes in the Far Eastern and eastern fells. The view from the living room and main bedroom window was amazing. The house was wellequipped and the beds comfortable. There was off street parking. I would highly recommend.

This was our second stay at Boxwood Cottage, and we enjoyed it as much as our first! The cottage was spacious enough for the three of us plus dog, the kitchen is well equipped, and the beds are very comfortable. We love the views from the sitting room window, and it is great to be able to walk from the front door.

Lovely holiday. Great view from the lounge and bedroom. Lovely walks from the doorstep. Heating was on downstairs when we arrived but not in the bedroom but was solved quickly once we read the instructions on how to turn it on.

The cottage was very comfortable and homely. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a plentiful supply of hot water. The view from the back windows was beautiful. Locationwise it was ideal for us rural, but central for getting about easily.

We loved the cottage. The location is great for walking from the door or going further afield. It's possible to walk to a pub for a meal,and there is a nice coffee shop in Troutbeck. The cottage is well equipped,comfortable, and very cosy,with beautiful views from the living room,and one of the bedrooms.. It was nice to come back to the wood burning stove in the evening.

We really did like this house. The location was perfect and the property itself was ideal. However, the information advertising a garden was misleading. Although it did not specifically mention that the garden was not directly accessible from the property, it did not say that it was not directly connected. It was in fact a very short distance away. This really wouldnt normally be an issue but we had a dog and a major part of our selection criteria is to have an accessible garden where we can open the back door and let the dog exercise. Here, the garden is only a short distance away but requires lead, head torches etc as the road is very busy. It would just have been nice to have known. Lovely house, very clean and otherwise perfect. Hope to return.

Lovely cottage in a fantastic setting. Very comfortable beds, which is a must after a long day out in the Lakes! Reliable WiFi and TV signal. Plenty hot water and very cosy with heating on.

Very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a stunning location. Rather disappointed to find no toilet roll at all when we arrived after a 3hour journey. Requireing an urgent dash to nearest shop!!

Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Very comfortable but a little chilly on a couple of evenings even though the radiators were full on. Would have been nice if the owners had left a couple of logs and kindling for the burner. However really enjoyed our 3 nights and would love to return.

Brilliant stay! Quality in property and cleanliness 100. We were worried a bit after reading past reviews but on arrival we were highly delighted. Slept really well, good shower, kitchen had everything and the layout with that view was lovely to come home to. So comfy in the evenings. Well done owners and Lakelovers. Thank you for a great week...oh and the Lakes were as stunning as ever, even in the drizzle! Will return.

Lovely holiday and fantastic location. Beds were super comfy. However, the cottage is beginning to look tired and in need of refreshing. Although the garden is accurately pictured, you really dont realize until you are there that it is next to the parking for all cottages next time I would select a cottage with a private garden off the property or at least a balcony so the fabulous views could be better enjoyed. Parking is very very tight and if you have a car with limited turning capacity as was our rental it was very much a challenge to park. Cute cottage, suited our purpose, loved the area and would definitely come back to Troutbeck but would select a more suitable cottage for our needs.

We generally enjoyed our stay at Boxwood. The level of equipment is very good, bedrooms and bathrooms excellent. Lovely views from bedroom 1 and lounge. Some areas however looking a little tired and would benefit from a freshen up, eg ground floor ceilings in need of repair, kitchen worktop on last legs due to water ingress, bedroom 1 wardrobe needs a minor overhaul as does the floor in the bathroom. We had intermittent problems with TV signal and arranged a callout, they could not find a fault, possibly a 'Troutbeck thing'. But these areas did not detract from our enjoyment and we realise are part and parcel of the perennial problem of maintenance to a very old property. However, the walk to the garden and parking area is a bit of an inconvenient chore, especially with hands full with glass of wine, book and dog whilst trying to negotiate the heavy gate, that was always keen to 'retaliate'. Likewise unloadingloading the car. I can see there are little options though. French doors leading onto a balcony would work nicely, although I suspect PP may be a problem. Bearing in mind these comments, the cottage seems quite expensive compared to several other properties we have stayed in. All said and done we enjoyed our stay, and what unbelievable weather, so the garden did get used frequently.....we thought we had taken a wrong turn off the motorway!

Stunning views as you look out of the window. Cottage has everything you need! However, during our stay there was no hot water at any of the sinks. No instructions how to access hot water i.e boiler or water heater! Husband had to boil kettle in order to get a shave. Shower in en suite water fluctuating from hot to cold. Secure parking, shared at the side of property. Lovely village! Great base for walking. This is the second time we have stayed at Boxwood and would I go back ? definitely. Cosy quaint cottage! Would I recommend to my friends and family yes!

The house was clean when we arrived. We slept well on the beds. The view from the detached garden was lovely. Nice to get a designated parking space in the car park.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage, very cozy, well equipped and comfortable. Only criticism would be the location of the small garden for our dog. The photos and description did not make clear it was not directly attached to the cottage. While only a short walk along the road to the garden, opening the back door in your PJs would have been preferable. We were also surprised by the lack of a recycling bin as we noted blue bins in use in the village. Overall a great stay.

We had a fabulous week at the cottage. Great location. It was such a cosy cottage and the decorated Christmas tree was a lovely touch. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the open plan layout. We enjoyed cosy nights in by the fire and loved the views of the valley in the day. The bedrooms were really comfortable and great to have nicely presented bathrooms. Glad we found this little haven as did Ralf our dog. Thank you!

Lovely cottage and and lovely location. I saw the negative comments posted here a few weeks ago and said to my husband they must have stayed at a different location as there was not one comment a could agree with. We will be back

Buildings works 3 metres from front door, from 07. 45 in the morning until after 4pm everyday. Cottage very tired carpet tread bare and smells. Shower seal mouldy very unhygenic and unsightly. Back bedroom gutters leaking kept us a awake for most of the night. Front door leads directly on to road with no warning of cars passing. Garden furniture absolutely discussing if weather would of been nice we would unable to sit on the chairs or use the table. We not stay in this cottage ever again

Boxwood Cottage is spacious and very clean. Located within Troutbeck Valley, the cottage has peaceful views overlooking the valley. There are plenty of walks nearby. Highly recommend.

It was a lovely cottage, was very well equipped and has a fantastic outlook across the valley. A great base for exploring The Lakes.

The cottage was really nice. ....the description and its location as we expected. The radiator heating was too low for winter which you should be able to alter yourself. However we would have no issues with returning again...

Information Car parking for second car not clear , was ok as other cottages vacant , Green bin filled with someone elses rubbish , managed to get ours in just . Listing says electricity and fuel included , no logs provided. Cleaning ok , shower tray had hairs in and Xmas decorations under sofa .

A nice cottage in a wonderful location. It was a cold week, & our only complaint would be the heating downstairs wasnt sufficient, however the wood burning stove made up for this.

Our second visit to Boxwood Cottage and it was as good as the first time. Ideally situated with wonderful views and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Well equipped kitchen and a perfect size for us and our dog. We love the wood burning stove and its cosy and warm. Im just about to book again for next year. Thank you.
