Cushat House, Stamford

Had a fantastic week at Cushat House one of the nicest best equipped holiday homes we have ever rented. On arrival so happy with the space, cleanliness and very thoughtful welcome pack. We slept in the main bedroom with four poster style bed. If you are a light sleeper maybe use the double back bedroom as the skylight in front room has no blind on it so I did make use of my sleep mask. Even though the weather was changeable we were able to make use of the lovely garden and sit at the kitchen table with the patio doors open watching all the birds that visited. The coffee machine was well used and was so surprised at the amount of pods supplied although we did buy some different ones from the coop in Seahouses. A short drive away was the lovely Embleton Bay where we parked beside Dunstanburgh Castle golf club before walking with our dog along the beach or over the golf course if no one playing. We ate here twice in the afternoon and one evening just stopped in for drinks. Food was lovely and everything very reasonably priced. We walked along the beach one day to Low Newton by the Sea, we visited the local pub The Ship Inn for drinks was extremely busy as was a beautiful day. The food here looked amazing and the most popular item was the crab sandwich. Unfortunately we werent hungry but enjoyed our drinks and coffee and took a piece of fruit cake back to the house for later. One night we walked up through the field which has a path kindly cut by the farmer into Rennington where we had a meal at the Horseshoe Inn. Once again the food was so good and the portions were huge we could both only manage a main course and their gluten free fish and chips was so good. Well worth visiting if you stay at Cushat. Was sorry to see that the house is actually up for sale

This was my second visit to Cushat House and absolutely love it. Its a comfortable spacious rental and the owners are very generous making the stay perfect. The gardens are well appointed and perfect for having a drink or meal when the weather is good. We were blessed with sunny weather during our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped with good quality equipment. The ginger cake was delicious and very happy that other vegan options were left for the guests that joined me .A really special touch and much appreciated. Our fur babies were also well catered for. All in all the owner has got it perfect and we would love to return again.

This was our second visit to this outstanding property and it was just as good has the first time we was here . Cushat house is very dog friendly with a secure garden and throws so they can sit with you on the sofa . The house its self is very welcoming and you feel at home right away . The area is very quiet but you are only ten minutes away from the beach or town . The goodies what they leave for you are a lovely welcome gift and the ginger cake is amazing. Thank you for our stay .

First class, the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.

Stunning house we really enjoyed our stay. Loved the area for the beach to take the dogs everyday. Cake was amazing that was left for us. The dog stuff was a lovely touch. You can tell the owners go out of their way to make sure you have a lovely stay. Only thing I could fault was the bees

This property excels at every level for a holiday. The facilities inside and out will meet any discerning customers needs of comfort and practicalities. In addition it's proximity to many seaside towns and villages is a real bonus. Quiet beaches abound. In over two decades of holiday rentals Cushat House sits proudly, very, very high. Also thankyou to the owners for a message saying they will post back dog lead and whistle..........even before we arrived home. Already booked for 2026.

The house is stunning and is so well equipped you want for nothing. Spotlessly clean and enclosed garden is great for the dogs. Would highly recommend.

Cushat house was amazing. The facilities were above and beyond. Welcome breakfast food in the fridge. There was nothing that the owners hadnt thought of. Little touches that you dont get everywhere. They supplied dog biscuits and dog bowls,dishwasher tablets, pegs the list is endless. Also a large BBQ which we enjoyed. A great base for visiting the lovely surrounding villages etc. Only 1 hour on the train to Edinburgh. We would 100 recommend this property. It is beautiful and the owners were available if you needed anything

Beautiful property immaculately presented and cleaned. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners loved our stay thank you.

Property is great, really spacious and well presented. Only downside is the remote location, a car is required for all trips. Wouldnt put us off returning.

Mini break absolutely stunning property, home from home. Want need for nothing. Calm, relaxing and peaceful environment, both the property and surrounding area. Personal touches which set the scene for mini break holiday. Property is tastefully decorated, fantastic eye and attention to detail. Lesley & Terry are amazing hosts, very welcoming and accessible and couldnt do enough to ensure we had the perfect break. Location and property are perfect for a break with dogs also, loads of walks suitable for dogs and dogs are welcomed at the property with open arms also. Will definitely be returning this is our new favourite place to mini break definitely a 5 star property and 1010 gold standard for everything else. Thank you both kindly for a lovely few days

Very comfortable and lots of facilities. Welcome hamper a lovely surprise. Loved the ginger cake and recipe. Bed comfortable and great that Cushat House was dog friendly. We all found it very comfortable. When we had an issue owners were swift to respond and rectified the issue. I would definitely book again.

This is one of, if not the best Sykes cottage weve ever stayed in, and weve stayed in a few! Immaculately clean, comfy, v high quality fixtures and furnishings, decked out with literally anything you could possibly need. Even had a bag of chargers and adaptors! Welcome cake, sausages and bacon, milk. Super helpful owners, attentive and always on hand to assist with any questions. Stunning garden and general location, not overlooked so felt private. Cannot fault and will definitely return. As a family with young children, it was perfect for us. Thank you Terry and Lesley

Cushat house is a lovely property. It was spotlessly clean and had everything possible to ensure our visit was comfortable and totally enjoyable. Lesley and Terry had kindly put up a Christmas tree and some decorations so it was like home from home the minute we opened the front door. There was really nothing more we could have asked for. It's also a beautiful area. We spent time in Alnwick, Warkworth, Amble, Craster and Embleton. All within easy reach. Top marks all round.

The best holiday cottage we have been to. We have a few cottage holidays each year and we can honestly say that this is the most comfortable that we have been to. The house itself is very well equipped and very comfortable, the enclosed garden ideal for dogs. The location is also very convenient with beautiful beaches and countryside very close by. We will be back, thank you.

Had a wonderful week here. ..property was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. Very dog friendly...with welcome treats, blankets and bowls...even a dog brush. Lovely welcome treats for humans too. We went first week of September and weather was lovely...lots of nice walks on the beautiful beaches in this area. Would definitely recommend.

Wow Wow Wow What an amazing house, 5 stars all the way. We stayed for the last 2 weeks of August and could not fault anything, many extra supplies for us to use throughout the 2 weeks. There was also dog treats, blanket, poo bags....our dog Hannah loved them all. Terry the owner was in touch to make sure everything was ok, checked if we wanted the lawns cutting and towels changed. Many lovely places to visit, Northumberland is beautiful. We would definitely recommend staying at Gushat House, such a beautiful house. Thank you Terry for making our holiday so special. Joanne

Cushat house was an excellent place to stay, the attention to detail was outstanding and the owners have thought of everything you need and might possibly forget. Great location, immaculate, comfortable, beautiful gardens and perfect for the dogs. The garden is enclosed and safe for them or children. Would highly recommend there isnt anything we can think of that would improve our stay.

Wonderful stay at cushst house. Finishing touches marvellous, welcome hamper for humans and fur babies went down well. Garden totally secure for our 2 spaniels. Lovely location, blessed with the weather, lovely coastline and extremely dog friendly. Would most definitely stay again. Only recommendation would be maybe a step off the patio doors.

This is the third time that we have been to Cushat , mostly in November which was a bit cooler so we had much more chance to enjoy the garden in summer sunshine which was lovely. Garden perfect and 100 dog proof and the facilities in terms of treats, blankets, bowls etc for our beagle was really brilliant and thoughtful. Very clean and everything you need for home away from home. Beds comfortable, as was settee and chairs downstairs. Lovely quiet location yet really close to beaches and to getting out and about to visit. Druridge Bay , Bamburgh and Alnmouth beaches we loved and the farm shop at Blagdon was fabulous. Terry and Lesley have done a great job and nothing was too much trouble for them. Will eb back again.

Luxuriously appointed dog friendly cottage offering fabulous comfort and facilities. The open plan kitchendiner is appointed with every appliance or piece of tableware you could wish for, the lounge is extremely comfortable and there's a separate snug to boot. The gardens are neatly laid out with lawn and architectural plants and the back garden is secure against would be four legged escapologists! Great communication from the owners and lovely welcome 'hamper'. Situation is brilliant for the Northumberland coast and for venturing further afield into the Scottish borders or inland towards Hadrian's wall. The station at Alnmouth is also very accessible. The best cottage we've ever stayed in!

Perfect location for exploring the many historical sites, enjoying the coastal walks and going to Kielder Forest for the day. Some holiday homes claim to be dog friendly, Cushat House truly is home to home for them with their own welcome pack and completely safe garden. Thank you for the human welcome pack as well, especially the delicious homemade cake!! We hope to be back again and would definitely choose your home to stay.

The house was the best equipped we have stayed in, with even a dog towel, treats and throws. It was beautifully decorated and had real welcoming feel! It was more spacious than i thought it would be, which was useful with two couples. The garden was lovely and had patio furniture which we enjoyed on the sunny days. The house is located in a quiet hamlet but only a 10 minute drive away from a retail park, with everything you could need. Many lovely places to visit close by Craster, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Seahouses and Embleton and Alnmouth. We have to visit during school holidays and would recommend getting to popular destinations before 11, to get in car parks.

Cushat House was exactly as described and more, the owners Lesley & Terry had gone way above what I expected with all the extras they had provided. They messaged me to say the property was ready to move into and wished us safe journey home, our little yorkie Coco loved the garden which was very safe for her. This was by far the best property we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend Cushat House.

Our second visit to this wonderful house. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the house was a large part of this enjoyment. We stayed with our family, including our 10 month old grandson and our border terriers. The house was very practical for all of us. The owners kindly provided a travel cot, stairgates and high chair. We were so happy to return and relaxed immediately. The house is immaculately clean and very well equipped. The Northumberland coast and countryside is beautiful and the house is ideally situated to explore it. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Thank you very much for the wonderful treats for us and our dogs. We could not fault the house and would love to return again.

Cushat house is amazing the best holiday let we have stayed in . The house is very well maintained and has everything you need , the welcome hampers went down a treat and was a lovely surprise. The dog loved the garden and is well kept and very secure so no escaping ! . The area is very peaceful, so if you want to relax you can but ten minutes in either direction you will be at the beach or in one of the lovely villages. We will hopefully be back one day to this beautiful house , thank you for our stay .

This is a lovely house in a quiet rural location only 10 minutes drive from the fantastic Embleton Bay. 10 minutes in the other direction is Alnwick. It is an excellent base for exploring the Northumberland coast. The house is extremely well equipped, everything you could possibly think of is provided and is in excellent condition and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Large comfy sofas for lounging about, a big kitchen and dining area and a seperate snug all make for a very comfortable break. Our dog enjoyed the fully enclosed rear garden. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful and left us a tasty welcome pack. We will definitely go back to Cushat House next time we visit Northumberland.

This is a beautiful cottage, which is exceptionally well maintained. We felt at home immediately and were extremely comfortable throughout our stay. There were numerous personal touches, including in the furnishings, garden, artwork, rainyday activities, and the selection of welcome treats which were a lovely surprise. Good communication was provided by the owners both with emails and with helpful information at the cottage. We would certainly stay here again.

This is a wonderful, well appointed, comfortable home. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack and a superb home made cake. Delicious! The provision of some coffee pods was really hugely appreciated. The house was pristine and we were able to relax and explore immediately. We loved the provision of throws for any dog who wanted a sofa cuddle too... so very well thought out. The beaches in the area are amazing best dog walks! so we will be back to explore further !! Thank you !
