High Winder House, Askham

We had a wonderful 3 days family get together. Stunning location made even better by good weather, and so quiet. Amazing to see all the birds and red squirrels and the children were delighted to see wild pigs The house is very well equipped with everything we could ask for. The pool table was a big hit. Beds comfortable and lovely hot showers. Some of the paths around the house were very mossy and slippy and could do with cleaning but only a minor point. The dog paddock is safe and a great idea and the walks from the house superb with stunning views. Would definitely recommended

Had a wonderful week in this property. It is large enough to be extremely comfortable for 8 guests to all have their own space, from a 5 year old, to an 89 year old. Beds were super comfy, and everything lovely and clean. There were slightly more steps in the house than we had envisaged, but no issues. Heating was great, so house stayed cosy on the colder days, and the hot water was plentiful. The added bonus of nature appearing at the sun room window throughout the day, meant we didn't use any of tv's. The red squirrel was the boldest. Would definitely go back.

Great property, kids loved the pool table. So much space for 2 families to share comfortably. Owner was very helpful providing us somewhere to store our bikes. We will definitely be back if we visit the area again.

High Winder house is a beautiful property, in stunning surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. I just couldnt fault this place and would love to stay again, hopefully for longer!

Location is excellent. Walks straight onto the fell with amazing views of Ullswater. The dog paddock was very popular with my 2 dogs.

Had a fantastic stay here, whole family 7 dog thoroughly enjoyed the pool table and the AGA particularly. Lots of quiet corners to sit and watch the squirrels and woodpeckers as well. Weather varied but house warm and cosy!!!! We will be back!

High Winder House is the perfect place to stay in the lakes and relax. From the comfort of the log fire to the homely additions in the property the house is the perfect place for a week away from the huddle and bustle of life. I would thoroughly recommend a stay to anyone looking at staying here and we are already looking to stay again next year.

Best place Ive ever stayed in the lakes idillic setting and access to loads of amazing and beautiful walks from the accommodation. Owner was really helpful and accommodating too. Great if you have dogs and also if want some piece and quiet everything you need if youre a group of friends or family.

We spent a week at this property with our family in total 6 adults, 3 children and a dog. The property is fabulous, beautifully appointed and comfortable, with everything we needed. The owner, Ged was very helpful, and responded to our messages and requests promptly, especially when we queried a slight problem with one of the showers. The quality of information included in the guide book app is second to none. We especially the dog particularly enjoyed the Aga in the kitchen, which made it feel warm and cosy all the time. The 'boys' of all ages enjoyed using the pool table, and games machine. We loved watching the wildlife, especially red squirrels, woodpeckers, jays from the sun room. Having access to the hills from the property was a complete bonus, and the views were beautiful. Sadly the cloudy weather prevented us from star watching, and we were there when the Lyrid meteor showers were due, but did not manage to see them. Ged kindly messaged us to tell us that the Northern Lights were expected one night, but again it was too cloudy to see them. We would definitely return to this property in the future, and thank Ged and Julie for their attention to detail, making our stay so enjoyable.

An amazing house which was perfect for our famiky gathering. Everything about it was perfect! We loved the aga, pool table, arcade machine, the high standard of furnishings, bed linen etc and there was plenty of space, with lots of nooks and crannies to retreat to. The sun room was great, we saw red squirrels, greater spotted woodpeckers, a jay and lots of chaffinches and great tits. I highly recommend, and hope to return myself in the future. Thank you!

Had the most amazing stay at High Winder House. The house is really beautiful, clean and well equipped. Pool table was a bonus for family pool nights. Lots of walks right on your doorstep with amazing views over Ullswater. Owner was really helpful prior to and during our stay. Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming cottage during Christmas time! The place is stunningspacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect retreat for a festive getaway. The Christmas trees was a lovely touch, adding to the warm and cozy ambiance of the cottage. Everything in the cottage seemed brand new, and the quality of the furnishings and decor was topnotch. The owner was exceptionally responsive, always quick to address any questions or needs we had, ensuring that our stay went smoothly. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we couldnt have asked for a better place to spend the holiday season. We will definitely be returning in the future! Highly recommend!
