Winder Green Reviews

A spacious property with fabulous views. We were a group of 6 adults and there was plenty of room. The bedrooms were comfortable and bright. A lovely shared outside space with access to a walk down to Ullswater. We were in the area for a wedding at Askham Hall and this was the perfect location
We had a lovely week at winder cottage. Everything was exactly like the picture. Very tranquil, lots of wild life around the cottage. Great walks straight out the cottage. I would recommend a stay here. Everything you need for a lovely relaxing stay in the lakes.
We generally had a lovely stay here. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife red squirrels, hares, fox, wild pigs. Very easy to get to Pooley Bridge, Askham and Lowther Castle. We especially enjoyed the bike trails and river walks. I think we were quite unlucky with 2 issues Wifi not working for majority of the week, and there was a water shortage, resulting in using bottled water for a couple of days, and intermittent issues with supply after that. These issues were not the fault of the owners, but their service providers. We would definitely consider staying again, but would have to check these problems were resolved first.

We spent a week at this cottage and it was wonderful. Everything you need is there. There's plenty of space, large rooms, and comfortable beds, three bathrooms and a laundry room. The garden is very large, and the designated area just for dogs was great addition. A gate situated at the rear of the garden provided access to a path, which in turn led us to a hill offering a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains. Just few steps from the house. The front of the cottage also offered wonderful views of the city skyline, as well as pastures where beautiful longhaired horses and red pigs grazed. The place is perfectly located. Everything is close by. Communication with the owner was excellent and quick. We'll definitely be back!
A lovely property in a perfect location for us.

Had a great stay. Great idea having lounge upstairs and lots of windows gave us great views over the countryside. Everything there, laundry, drying room. Even saw the red squirrel plus much more wildlife.
A great location for the Ullswater area. We'll be back to see if we can bags High Street from the door. 7 in our party and we all slept well in the accommodation and enjoyed the views, the red squirrels and the hares we could see from the windows.

A wonderful stay at Winder Green! We booked in for a bank holiday walkong weekend and were not disappointed. Great communication from Ged and Julie beforehand and throughout which was most welcome. We really enjoyed our stay there. The beds were comfy, there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space, a well equipped kitchen and fantastic views from the door including red squirrels! The location was fab 8ish mins to Pooley Bridge in a car so great for exploring Ullswater or further afield. We would highly recommend and are already planning on booking again! Thank you!
Our stay at Winder Green was a last minute arrangement, due to our booking at a different property being cancelled less than 24 hours before arrival. Sykes offered us Winder Green based on the location of our previous property and party size including a dog. Despite our initial disappointment at the last minute change, we had a fantastic Easter weekend at Winder Green. Ged and Julie went above and beyond to turn the property around for our stay and we really appreciated them reaching out to us directly to welcome us, with additional resources to enhance our stay. The children & grown ups were very touched to be greeted with an Easter egg for each child. The property was warm, clean and comfortable. We only gave a 4 for comfort due to the smaller double bed. The kitchen was well equipped and we were treated to a lovely box of biscuits, milk and teacoffee provisions. What was really special about our stay was the views and the immediate surroundings. The children loved watching the red squirrels, pheasants and rabbits and you could easily loose a few hours peacefully enjoying the outdoor sitting area. You truly feel like youre miles from anywhere and the absence of light pollution too made it a great location for star gazing. We spent time adventuring on the fells and the proximity to Pooley Bridge made walks accessible. The steamer was a highlight for the kids. The laundry and boot room were very much welcomed. We would definitely return there is so much more to explore in the area.
