Mellows, Thorpeness

Its our 3rd time of staying at Mellows. We love it. Facilities and equipment good, great for a family. Garden lovely and well cared for. I found Sykes as an organisation difficult to deal with and unresponsive

Our third stay at Mellows. Always very clean. This year we noticed an increase in flies in the property which is probably due to the introduction of the food waste bin. It did have a lot of maggots which we tried to deal with and notified the housekeeper. Its a perfect location for us and a good configuration of bedrooms for our family. Being allowed 2 small dogs is a big attraction as well

Our sixth visit to Mellows didn't disappoint. Now feels like our second home!

Wonderful accommodation , was spotless and had everything we needed . We were a bit confused with the recycling so maybe a list of what goes where would be helpful , but think we managed to do it right . Hopefully . Definitely recommend this property and hopefully we will be back .

Mellows was absolutely perfect! Fabulous location with the Meare and local pub The Dolphin which does amazing food within easy walking distance. Every possible facility to ensure a comfortable stay is provided. As a family of six adults, we had ample room to relax. All rooms with ensuite were comfortable. Highly recommended. Sad to leave!!

This was our second stay at Mellows. It is perfect for a family holiday, with everything you could possibly need, including a wellequipped kitchen, enclosed garden, spacious living area and ensuites with every bedroom. The house was clean and fresh on our arrival, and is wellsituated in a private lane in the picturesque village of Thorpeness. We will definitely book again. Thank you.

This was Our third stay in this property and is still as great as the first time. No issues at all and everything that We needed was there. might be back again some time in the future.

Mellows is an ideal property for a visit to the Suffolk coast and its hinterland. The house is spacious, comfortable and wellequipped. It is ideally positioned for visits to many places of interest, such as Snape Maltings, Minsmere, Framingham and many more. I recommend the property without reservation.

A lovely house in a quiet location, great facilities, we had a great stay, would definitely recommend.

We were very pleased to make this very last minute booking after another reservation different company had to be cancelled due to a maintainance problem. We were really happy with the property which suited us quite well. The only issue was that the downstairs double bedroom had a bathroom with a shower over the bath my parents, who are elderly, cannot get into this type of shower anymore. This is a shame really as the downstairs bedrooms otherwise make the property very accessible we didn't find the step up into the property, mentioned on the listing, a problem at all. We resolved the shower issue by them using the shower in the bathroom of the downstairs single bedroom. The open plan living space was excellent ideal for a large family holiday. The radiator in the main bedroom couldn't be turned down we had to resort to opening the window, despite the subzero temperatures, as it was too hot to sleep!

We have been to Mellows several times, enjoyed it very much, and hope to come again. We love the spaciousness, comfort and atmosphere, as well as the area. A home from home....

A lovely house, well presented, clean. Good supply of crockery and cutlery. Conveniently located within walking distance to the mere, cafe, pub, beach. Lovely patio area with garden furniture. Very comfortable accommodation for 6.

Very well equipped and comfortable property. Safe garden for children and dogs. Close to beach, cafe and excellent pub. Just 2 minutes from golf club and boating lake. Easy bus ride to Aldeburgh. Peaceful location and nice walks from the door

This was our second visit. ..so good we came back. We are a group of 7 retired friends, we like to walk, see the local area and stay in comfortable surroundings..our stay here exceeded our wishes. We holiday regularly in the UK and Europe and this is our favourite holiday home in tge UK

The property is in a wonderful place close to two pubsrestaurants both excellent. Beach 100yds. No shop but everything you need within a couple of miles. Property has all the equipment and facilities you would need. A few nature reserves close by. Hobby and marsh harriers behind the third hole on the golf course. RSPB Minsmere 30 min. Sutton hoo 40 min. Will use again.

It was a lovely stay, our fifth in this property. The Christmas decorations and welcome gifts were a really lovely touch

Great place to stay, clean, comfortable and warm. Plenty of space round dining table and sofas etc for relaxing. All very happy there and if returning to the area would have no hesitation staying there again. Local pub 2 mins walk away did a nice Sunday Roast.

This property was just as we expected from all the literature we had read. No nasty surprises. Very comfortable seating, and plenty of it. Beds and bedding lovely. Very well equipped kitchen, not everywhere provides sharp knives!! We appreciated the welcome gifts and the fire made a very cosy atmosphere considering it was freezing outside. The only slight problem, and this cannot be changed, was the space in the kitchen when tidying up after a meal...and this is me being pernickety. A wonderful place to stay.

We had such a lovely weekend stay. The house was beautiful and so homely. Great location too. We would definitely recommend and also return!

Great property, comfy beds, location. Would certainly stay again. Only little niggle was stains on some of the carpets. However did not impact on us having enjoyable holiday.

We have stayed at Mellows several times, and would lie to do so again! It is ideal for our holidaymakers, and we love it.

House is perfect, so much space, lovely enclosed garden perfect for kids! Every bedroom has a bathroom which was such a bonus. 2 seconds from everything in Thorpeness, easy parking and easy to find. They phoned us and said we could access the property early, this was amazing because my only constructive feedback is 4pm is too late for standard check in, especially when its 10am checkout. We are not in covid times anymore and 4 is so late when you have kids. My friends and family do normally now try and opt for places that have returned the check on and out times back to 3 and 10.

We stay in many selfcatering accommodations and Mellows is right at the top for cleanliness, equipment and comfort. Lovely secure garden and the house is situated a few hundreds yards from the House in the Clouds. The owners have gone out of their way to furnish and equip to a high standard. We would highly recommend the Mellows.

Fabulous house in a brilliant position not far from the Meare and the beach. Had everything we needed so much so Ive booked for next year.

This is a beautiful and well equipped house. Lots of space and a wonderful light and large open living space for a large family or group of friends to holiday together. It also has a lovely enclosed garden for children or a dog to safely use. Its in a quiet location very dark at night so take a torch but within a very short walk of both a great pub and 2 cafes. We had a great short break here and would thoroughly recommend.

We've stayed at Mellows several times now, twice this year, and have found it to be the perfect home from home, big enough for reunions plus being an excellent location for golfers. A lamp repair was speedily performed on our arrival. A very comfortable house. Janet Chapman

Fabulous holiday house. All bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Excellent open plan kitchenliving room. Well equipped. Enclosed garden great for all including dog! Large parking area in front of house. A great stay!

A fabulous home that had everything you could possibly want or need. Thorpeness is a really interesting place, a lovely pub and several other food options. Circular walks to Aldeburgh and Sizewell are literally on your doorstep. A great place to stay.

We had a fabulous stay at Mellows, 6 of us plus the dog. The property was just as described. Loved the open plan design which meant that we could all spend time together. Garden was great for the dog and it was easy to walk to the beach, pub, and the boating lake. Great location for days out to Dunwich, Southwold and Aldeburgh. Loved it.

Our stay at Mellows was everything wed wished for a chance to spend time together with family in a new location. Mellows was welcoming and comfortable wine and cake gifted to us is always a good start with good facilities. Nice property close to the beach.

Stunning property with so much space and comfort. We felt at home the minute we walked through the door. Lovely open plan living area with multiple seating options so space for everyone. The bedrooms are all big and the beds themselves are massive and so comfortable. The location was fabulously peaceful with so many walks in every direction. Would recommend the Mellows to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in a stylish property.
