Otterburn House Reviews

We had a great week at Otterburn cottage. The location was great, it was so peaceful and safe. We loved the hot tub every day and even in the drizzle. We took our cockapoo on walks on the beaches, over the cliffs and up to castles. Bude is a lovely town to wonder around with a good choice of shops. Just a shame Cornwall is such a long drive for us.

Otterburn House is a dream! A beautiful home , minutes from the sea . The downstairs is spacious and extremely comfortable and the kitchen is perfect for a large group with wonderful cooking facilities . The outside space was so beautiful and peaceful and the hot tub was a bonus . Upstairs the rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable , everywhere was extremely clean . We stayed during a particularly hot spell and the 2 of the upstairs bathrooms where there are no windows were very hot ! The only thing I could suggest adding would be some fans in each of the bedrooms .
Otterburn House was just beautiful. Everything you need and more was there. The gardens were just beautiful and ideal to play outdoor games which were supplied.
This is our 2nd holiday at Otterburn House and we would still highly recommend it. This house is just beautiful. We are an extended family and its perfect for the grandparents as well as the adult children. In a wonderful location and the area is pretty flat and its a lovely walk for us all along the canal path in to Bude. The house has more than everything needed and the hot tub is a lovely addition for the young adults especially. The beds are all really comfortable and suitable for many family combinations. Very spacious seating areas both inside and out. The garden is beautiful our fur baby loves it and the rabbits thats run about.

We had a lovely stay at Otterburn house, great location right on the cycle path and bridle path along the canal, 20mins from walk into bude but so lovely and peaceful with lovely views. There was so much space and the accommodation was so well equipped. I love cooking and there was lots of equipment not normally in a rental. Loved how the owners had left games for indoor and outdoor it really helped keep the kids amused. Also had elec charger too for our car so perfect. We would definitely recommend and love to stay again at a warmer time of year. Thank you for a lovely holiday
Otterburn House is a great spacious holiday home and the location is perfect for families. Its an easy flat walk to Bude along the canal tow path and my grandchildren easily managed it. Bude itself has so much to offer apart from a great beach with a leisure centre for swimming and a soft play for wet days. The house has a lovely very well equipped kitchen with a dining tableyou are spoilt for choice about where to eat both inside and out. All the bedrooms are spacious with 2 ensuites and a fabulous family bathroom. The only downside is the steep stairs but this is pointed out in the listing. The very large lounge has a cosy woodburner and loads of seating. The second lounge snug makes a great playroom. Outside there is a lovely secure garden with a large hot tub which everyone enjoyed. All in all whats not to like about Otterburn House as it is very special
House is tucked away down a narrow lane but we found it OK. The house is beautifully furnished with everything we needed, and the kitchen was stocked with every utensil you could need although an air fryer might be a nice addition and save the owners leccie instead of a big oven. The views are amazing from the garden and the hot tub was a lovely addition to wind down the day. Lovely walks into Bude from the house take you along the canel, and after a 20 minute walk you arrive at the town with plenty of eateries Brendon Arms was perfect for lunch and dog friendly. Overall a perfect house and location to see Bude and the surrounding areas. Cheers.

Otterburn House is delightful beautiful house and wonderful location. We had couple of minor issues on the first night, but these were very quickly and efficiently dealt with by the owner. The kitchen is quirky and very well equipped. We were able to play table tennis and made good use of the hot tub. It was a pity there were no sun loungers, as shown in the pictures, but we understand the reason and we made do! Lovely walks into Bude by the canal, or on the coastal path, depending how energetic we felt. We will certainly recommend to our friends.
Lovely property in a great location, only a little short walk into Bude. Enough space for everyone, both inside and outside. It couldnt have been better.

We had a lovely stay at Otterburn House. Any issues we had were resolved quickly by either the owner or the emergency contact. A really great house for family get togethers but would definitely say not for elderly or less mobile people. Garden is amazing and multiple seating areas was lovely. Kitchen was well equipped with good quality equipment.

This is a beautiful property located in a lovely peaceful setting with lovely views. The house is well equipped and very clean. We had a couple of small problems during our stay which were sorted very quickly.

Otterburn house certainly has the wow factor. From the moment you arrive you know you are going to have a lovely holiday. The cottage has everything you need and more. Lots of space. All rooms well and tastefully furnished cw an amazing country kitchen. The large well maintained garden is to die for. Fantastic array of plants and flowers, all overlooking the beautiful Bude countryside. Whilst not isolated, you feel secluded and relaxed. The hot tub was a real treat and got a lot of use. Bude is a 20 minute walk away down country lanes, reserve and canal. Maybe it helped that we had great weather but the walk really was a delight. I really do rate Otterburn house highly and cannot wait to go back there.
Really nice property and loved the stay!
Nicola
The house was really lovely but Sykes customer service is abysmal. I contacted them before the holiday to ask how much it was to rent some additional space in the grounds of the house. I got a note back during the holiday which was too late to say I couldn't change properties! I've also received no response to a text until after the holiday. Not much use!
We have rented many holiday cottages in Bude over many years and this was the best of them all! Wonderful location, exquisite garden and very well equipped.

Excellent property with comfortable rooms and good facilities. A few minor negatives, the stairs are steep and with low headroom. The satellite signal is poor and the WiFi insufficient bandwidth for many users. However, situated in a quiet spot on a narrow road it has excellent views, a great garden and is close to Bude. Would recommend the walk along the canal! Has everything you need for a large family in a scenic spot. The ev charger is also a great addition. We had a great holiday..
A butter dish and hand towel in the kitchen short of wonderful for us as a holiday home. Spacious, well equipped house with lovely gardens. We really enjoyed being able to walk out from the house into Bude or the coast at Widemouth Bay along the Bude Canal. Table tennis and hot tub were an added bonus and well used. Very quiet location. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in as a family group of adults.
Jeremy
Otterburn House is a fantastic holiday house. Three generations formed our trip and the high level of comfort it afforded and location generated an idyllic break. The gardens, sitting out area and hot tub enabled a truly relaxed holiday. Thank you.
We loved the house and beautiful garden, perhaps more actual details of where to put the bin because we put it out with another bin on Thursday night and it reappeared un emptied on Friday morning. Also we didnt know which week was recycle week. Otherwise an amazing holiday let very peaceful with lots of wildlife visiting the garden. Lovely hot tub, lots of kitchen equipment and loads of space for everyone to do their thing. Theres a wheel missing off the chair in the office. Our food delivery didnt make it because Asda Bideford couldnt find the property and the road closed thing was very strange. Those lanes are scarily narrow!!!! Made for fun journeys!! Overall a lovely experience and provided you have no mobility issues and good orientation skills youll love it.
Fantastic property with great facilities. This house was just perfect for a home from home break for our family of 5. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms very comfortable. Hot tub and garden were lovely although sadly it was quite stormy when we visited. But we did make great use of the living room fire. Only downside was that the living room tv did not work to get Sky which was a bit frustrating.
Nicholas
Probably the best Sykes cottage I've stayed in. The location was excellent. The house itself was superb. The gardens amazing! Loved the hot tub. We made friends with Dave the huge spider in the main ensuite bathroom! Lol. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for cleanliness was because of the cobwebs. And for the furniture, was because everything was a little tired and worn out. Not surprising really as I bet this place is never empty! Otherwise, spot on. The smell outside took a bit of getting used to. But I guess when you have a sespit sewerage it can't be helped. We would definitely think about re booking another holiday. Well done to the owners and to Sykes.
Sophie
There were a lot of cobwebs around, kitchen, bedrooms etc. My daughter found a vape on the top of a wardrobe in one of the single bedrooms. We also had a visit from a mouse in the room with the desk in. We tried to get it out but it disappeared. Door handle came off in my hand to bathroom. Dishwasher did not clean very well.
Ernest
Very nice cottage, well situated for Bude with either a quick drive or short walk into town
Andrea
The property is exactly as advertised as is absolutely lovely. The kitchen is extremely well stocked . The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Just a couple of little comments the step down into the main bedroom ensuite is quite deep and the looseness of the door knob was perhaps an indication that it had been used as a support maybe a small grab handle might be useful especially during the night and the stairs are very steep so perhaps a second stair rail would help young and old alike. I have already shown many friends the pictures and would recommend the property without hesitation Thank you.
The property is very well equipped to enable customers a comfortable real home from home experience. The property was cleaned to a high standard, and bed linen, towels, were of very good quality. There's ample space both inside and outside for our group 4 adults, 1 dog.
What an amazing cottage and gardens. It feels and look like an old cottage but it has all the modern living you could want. The owners have got the balance perfect. We loved the modern shower and bathrooms, which also maintained the old cottage feeling. The gardens were amazing as well with a fantastic view across Bude. It was lovely to share the gardens with the wildlife and the hot tub is a great touch. We would definitely stay here again. My only feedback would be to repair of replace the fencing on the entrance gates as our little dog managed to get under it so we had to put the bins out to try to prevent this.
A fantastic house and gardens in an idyllic spot. Spacious and comfortable with everything to hand. The walk into Bude along the canal is delightful and everything made for a very relaxing break.
Pauline
Fabulous house to bring together the wider family. The grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed having such a great garden space to play together. The adults really appreciated the peace and quiet as well as the table tennis and hot tub!! The family lounge was a great space to come together at the end of the day, and having the separate snug was useful when football clashed with toddlers desire to watch their programs A great base to explore Bude, the Canal and Bude Marshes. Would recommend the Weir at Whaleborough for great food breakfast, lunch and dinner in a lovely location. Perfect place to dine out with little ones We really appreciated being able to recycle our rubbish. Darren was very helpful when we discovered a couple of maintenance issues they were very quickly resolved. We do feel the website should make clear that there are steps in several places between the downstairs rooms, and the stairs are quite steep. Also hoping there will be a bit more attention to replacing light bulbs and cleaning dust and cobwebs from behind and under furniture
We had a glorious weeks stay at Otterburn House, perfectly situated for walks along the canal into Bude where we enjoyed some lovely lunches out & we were blessed with the weather and spent most days on the beach with fabulous walks back to the house along the Southwest Costal Path. The house, garden and hot tub were all perfect, nothing to fault and we'll definitely return.
Wonderful stay with stunning surroundings amazing place to stay.
Excellent cottage for 3 generations of our family. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable rooms with space for all the family, fantastic garden & good location for North Cornwall. The hot tub was a great addition for us to enjoy. 15 minute walk to Bude along the bridle path. We visited The Bank Tapas which is not to be missed, probably the best tapas we have had anywhere. Enjoyable week for us all.
Phoebe
A beautiful holiday home large, spacious, extremely clean, quality fixtures and fittings, bedding, crockery etc all good quality and like a home from home. Perfect for all ages, including a baby and grandparent. The location was ideal, and the house was so great you could have spent the whole week at home. Darren was incredibly accommodating in advance helping by sending photos of steps and stairs to help one of our party members with limited mobility. A perfect holiday home, we had a fabulous week and would very much recommend or come back ourselves.
Fantastic place to stay with family and friends. All the facility's you could need for a long stay. Bathrooms and showers were excellent and kitchen facilities were amazing. Location was good, 1520 minute walk into Bude centre and to the beach. We visited The Bank at Bude Tapas bar only 10 minutes walk away which was amazing. Prebooking was required as they get very busy. Ample parking for our 4 cars. Very quiet with great countryside views.
An absolutely fabulous property. The house itself is perfect in terms of rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. All really well furnished and presented. A very comfortable home from home. The wonderful garden has to be seen to be believed complete with a great hot tub and even table tennis. Otterburn House is well situated with comfortable walks along the pretty canal to Bude and Summerleaze Bay one way and Widemouth Bay the other. Lovely views all around complete a great holiday.
Amazing property with fabulous gardens, lovely walks on the doorstep, facilities second to none
Cottage was absolutely for perfect for all the family ,, furnishings , bed linen , towels , showers all to a high standard. The setting was overlooking the countryside and it was uninterrupted views all round . Table tennis and hot tub a bonus too . Beautiful House We were looked after well By Darren ..
