Petty Knowes Cottage Reviews

What an excellent break my 2 Border Collies and I had at Petty Knowes Cottage. Escaping the trauma of a home kitchen fit, we left my wife to project manage the work whilst Poppy, Pickles and I spent an idyllic 5 nights wandering the Northumberland countryside and relaxing! Fully equipped to a really high standard, Sally and Joe made us feel really at home and left us to it whilst always being discreetly available. Thank you for a great week, we are now home to the disappointment of unfinished work and I wish I was back on the hills!
Jo & Sally were lovely hosts, nothing too much trouble and were on hand if needed. A lovely welcome hamper greeted us on arrival including treats for the dog. The cottage had spectacular views in a lovely dark sky area. Sadly we didnt see much due to a few cloudy nights and early to bed nights after days spent walking the numerous countryside trails, forest and woods including part of Hadrians wall. It was lovely to come back to a comfortable cottage which had everything we needed including a lovely superking size bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, the only downside being that we had to leave, but we will be back! Good luck Jo & Sally with all your future plans, we hope to see you again soon.
The pictures don't do it justice really. Boutique hotel level interior design, ideal for dogs, warm, cosy and even if 'tubs' aren't your thing not mine it's a perfect stay for a couple. Literally out the door is some real history, the Roman sites are cool, and the local pubs good value. No surprise that photography for local birds and wildlife is top notch. We loved the dark skies, and it's a good site to see Kielder and places like Corbridge and Jedburgh. Don't forget mining history locally too. We survived storm Amy, so while 'remote' is part of the attraction, it's well prepared. Great stay, thanks. Ps do the Kielder Forest drive from the top down, not as advertised views are superb.
Just had a week at this lovely cottage. it was so peaceful . very clean very comfortable all you could ask for. joe and sally the owners live next door and if you require any info they were very helpful, but let you get on with your holiday, if as i would expect you have no problems we will differently go back again .we found it a good base for visiting scotland and north east coast berwick on tweed south to Newcastle.our 2 dogs loved the fields to walk in no sheep out side for the first 3 days then they were around the house,no issues as soon as they saw the dogs they all moved away.thank you for a great peaceful holiday.oh and the lovely welcome pack.alaska loves her new squeaky toy
All in all the place was in a good location for everything we wanted to see and do. Clean and tidy with a cottagey feel. A few very small niggles were, we didn't use the hot tub as it was not in a convenient position to get to and there was only one teaspoon. Sally and Joe are lovely people and nothing was to much trouble.

Beautiful location cottage is well maintained clean and tidy perfect. Sally and joe perfect hosts, just leave you to it but are there if you need anything.definitely going back.
Petty Knowes is the perfect getaway, it is so well equipped you wont want to be anywhere else. The hosts are fantastic, the welcome pack having little bits for the dog as well was such a nice touch. The cottage is quiet and cosy and right in the middle of some of the best Roman landscapes in Britain. Watching the sunset over the hills from the hot tub is a memory we wont soon forget! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
Lovely cottage, fantastic location and views, had everything we could have needed or wanted.
Had a great stay at Petty Knowes Cottage. Lovely location with amazing views from around the farm. The owners left a welcome basket along with all the essentials which was much appreciated! Will definitely visit again!
