Rhif Deg Reviews

We really liked the cottage, it was tastefully decorated and they have made the most of the limited space. The kitchen is bright and well equipped. I would have preferred a dishwasher rather than a washing machine. As the kitchen has a glass roof it must get extremely hot in the summer. I would have liked a long mirror. There was one but it was wedged between the wall and chest of drawers so not usable. The pedal on the bin in the bathroom didn't work. We managed to park in the road but didn't move the car much as we thought we may lose our space.

A lovely, quaint cottage in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. It had everything we needed and it was cosy and warm, especially with the log burner lit. A great base for exploring a beautiful area. Thank you.
Howard
Nice old cottage glad they put rises on the settee a bit cold in the kitchen as there no heating in there.
Michelle
Lovely little cottage in a great spot for exploring Brecon and the surrounding area. It's my second visit and i'll be back.
Very well equipped and clean. I was ok with the stairs but some people might not have managed them and perhaps there needs to be more about this on the details? But I loved it and appreciated the thought that had gone into equipping and presenting the cottage.
Rhif Deg exceeded my expectations the kitchen was very well equipped, the shower was nice and hot and I was able to watch both Netflix and YouTube on the television using my accounts via my mobile. Rhif Deg is only a five minute walk from the town centre ten if you walk along the canal. Powys County Council recycles just about everything and the helpful renters' guide explained which colour bins outside to use. 10 out of 10 and recommended to any couple wanting to stay in beautiful Brecon.
Hey, loved your cottage, had a lovely stay. Only comment would be better to change your front door lock as it's really difficult to unlock as confirmed by your cleaner when I was leaving. Would definitely come back, thank you.

Although not a problem for us, the narrow twisty stairs could be a problem for others and needs to be made more clear on the description. The kitchen was very cold compared to the rest of the house no heating unless we had the oven on for cooking dinner. Also very poor lighting in the kitchen in winter. The sofa was quite soft compared to what we are used to not good for back support. It was lovely to have hot water for a shower, whatever time we got back no waiting for it to heat up. The parking was limited. The location of the house was great we never actually used our car for the whole week. Supermarkets, bus station etc all easily walkable. Plenty of places to eat out in town. Obviously, the surrounding countryside is wonderful and we did walks and cycle rides from the doorstep as well as using the bus to go a little further afield. We were blessed with good weather, which always helps!
Great little cottage cosy and with everything I needed. In a quiet street but very close to the town centre and the bus interchange. Good efficient communication in advance of stay from Sykes, and when I needed to contact Charlotte directly she responded quickly and was lovely. Although I stayed out of season so maybe shouldn't generalise the cottage was great value for what is a beautiful and popular area.

Unfortunately we had to leave the cottage on the Wednesday, due to inside stairs which are narrow and all different heights and widths. The sofa was very low, it was difficult for me to get up from. I had a couple of falls, one on narrow landing, top of stairs and one in lounge getting up from settee. My husband had difficulty getting me off floor. Son helped. My son who lives 20 miles away from cottage and came to cottage to help. Abergavenny was not happy with how we were managing and booked us into a hotel from the Wed to the Sat when we were due to go home. It was very unfortunate, as the cottage was clean and pleasant. It was well decorated, everything we could need provided in the cottage. Perhaps I should have read more into it. Would be fine for younger persons or, the Very fit older person.
We don't usually submit reviews, however we felt that the description of this property oversold it and it was in need of some tender loving care. The points we want to draw to the owner's attention are noted below 1. Cleanliness crockery, tea pot and cutlery needed to be washed prior to use. Previous guests appear to have merely rinsed these items and put them away rather than throughly wash them. The washing machine also dirty resulting in marks on light coloured clothing. Rubber door seal needed cleaning and perhaps too much washing powder was used in previous washes! Spiders webs with dust were found in the bedroom and bathroom. The radiator in the bedroom was full of hair and dust. 2. Shower the thermostat could not be adjusted, paint splatters on the shower tray 3 Bedding flannelette sheet and pillowcases on the bed, far too warm in the height of summer 4 Other internal issues clock in kitchen not working, fridge freezer old, fridge door doesn't always close although there is a note on the fridge saying push to close, drawer in freezer had been broken and was glued back together rather than replaced, dificult to control temperature in fridge due to its age, either freezing or not cold enough. Fruit bowl on shelf broken and although kitchen well equiped we found a lot of chipped crockery. Kitchen stools too high to comfortably sit at the breakfast bar. 5. Back garden weeds in back seating area. Recycling bins take up a lot of room and would benefit from being all together in a stacking device. 6. Parking Its not a quiet street, its very narrow with cars parked on both sides and no turning space at the end. Parking was a challenge and other residents asked us to move our car from the door.
Lovely place near centre of brecon . Ideally placed for walks and a fantastic canal path just behind cottage great for walking or cycling.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage . Ideal base to visit the lovely surroundings of the area .Very convenient location for walking into town .The house was very well equipped for cooking ,good quality pans and utensils, knives etc We like to do our own cooking and so often rental properties are so basic .The house was very cosy and peaceful,we slept really well ,comfy bed etc ,if it got abit chilly the heating was very quick and easy to boost up a bit Good local info was available in the booklet Lovely walks by canal smart by the canal basin just round the corner Tried to book canal boat trip but was not available as hed got private booking All in all a lovely stay would recommendthankyou
