Tall Trees, Bowness

Tall Trees was an amazing property and was in a fabulous setting. The house was perfect with the most incredible views, with great walks from the door! The dog had a blast but was a little scared of the stairs thats her issue not the stairs

A well presented cottage with a beautiful maintained garden and great views in a peaceful location. Tall Trees was more than adequate for our family for a weeks stay with spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds, large loungekitchen diner and balconypatio furniture. We had no issues with any of the amenities, all bathrooms were clean and smell free. We experienced no issues with the WIFi, its more than suitable for Netflix. Only minor observations of note. 1. The lodge would benefit from a fresh coat of paint. 2. Theres a lot of glass that would benefit a good clean internally between bookings. Overall, a great location to explore or just relax.

Gorgeous property with superb walks right from the doorstep. Beds were super comfy and the property was very modern. However were other properties had extra touches like salt, pepper, bin liners, polish etc this lacked so be prepared to take these with you. The internet went down 3 days in so we couldnt watch Netflix or use the WiFi and we couldnt get in contact with the owner. So we had to leave a note. This would not put us off from booking again and I would recommend this property to anyone.

The property is stunning the views are out of this world. The property on arrival was everything you could have wanted. The work surfaces in the kitchen were visible clean but when you wiped your hand across them there was debris still on them which hadnt been fully cleaned. The Wifi as mentioned in previous reviews was intermittent which is infuriating when the TV is reliant on this for viewing Netflix, Amazon, Disney etc. to say it was frustrating is polite. The downstairs has large cracks in the ceiling and walls assuming owing to being a new property. Not what you would expect to pay for issues like these that could be easily resolved. Will think twice before booking again. Wouldnt if all these points were addressed.

Very nice but not quite as amazing as we hoped for the cost. The house has been built to a high standard and the views over the lake to the hills are stunning. The garden is a lovely space and although it wasnt the weather to enjoy it, the dog very much enjoyed having a private space and its pretty secure for a big dog! The kitchen was adequately equipped and the lounge area was perfect for the family relaxing in the evening. The children also loved having their own TVs to watch in the morning as a treat. The roll top bath in the bedroom was also a great attraction. Our experience was probably soured a little by our arrival, being greeted by large number of dog mess bags wasnt a good start, swiftly followed by the fact the house was cold, the fireplace hadnt been cleaned and there was no starter pack for the fire as advertised. Not ideal for a sub zero February night! Once the house was up to temperature the next day it was nice and cosy and actually the fireplace was almost too much! Need to knows The house was well equipped and most of the essentials were included but expect bring extra things like salt, tinfoil and toilet roll. There is a huge American fridge freezer downstairs which is great for a family. The internet was fine for checking emails but at 2mbs dont plan on streaming or working but thats not why you holiday in the lakes anyway! The water pressure is negligible as expected in the lakes so be aware that although the bathrooms are very nice, you wont be having a power shower! The patio doors upstairs are INCREDIBLY heavy, I was the only one able to open them so be aware of this! The property is overlooked by the neighbours and the footpath, however there are blinds on the two edges. Its a shame the blinds were not fitted to the end windows to allow total privacy, however the two ends are not overlooked to any great degree. The driveway has plenty of space for a few cars but the lead up is incredibly steep, we were thankful for the 4x4 in the icy conditions.

Excellent holiday accommodation, with everything we needed, fabulous views, lovely garden area, only slight issue was the wifi was intermittent, as can be the case in the Lakes. Would definitely return in the future.

Fantastic place! Glass and patios each side of living area makes it feel like you are always outside. Super comfy chairs and loungers. Beautiful garden and views with lots of lovely walks straight from the door. Could not fault this place.

Tall Trees continues to delight us, beautiful surroundings and an excellent property design making the most of the splendid views. We will definitely be back again.

Six of us ranging from five to eighty five stayed here last week. The property and grounds are stunning. The finish is to a really high quality with super comfy beds and cotton bed linen. The outdoor furniture on both the patio and balcony was an added bonus, although our weather was very mixed and we didnt get to enjoy the garden as much as wed hoped. The two kids, however, were out there in all weathers , running around and having a ball. There is a little stream that runs alongside the property and they loved making little dams in it. As previously stated,there is a severe lack of storage space in the kitchen. So you are reduced to having to pile stuff up on the work counter and window sill. A few boxes or shelves would sort this. The glass box living allows for the most incredible views whatever the weather. Its simply breathtaking. We sat at the table playing cards watching the sunset. There is so much to do around the area or you can just stay in and relax. The drive up to the house is steep, and by parents old corsa did struggle a bit. If you leave the house and turn directly right, there is a footpath that leads to a stone bench with the most beautiful view of lake Windermere. The flowers there are incredible, speedwell, vetch , fox gloves and wild spotted orchids to name a few. The one disappointing thing for us , and its minor , was that one of the drawers in the bedroom hadnt been cleaned and there were picked off false nails and other stuff in there. Also two of the towels had stains on them. The tumble dryer dial is missing the front. We managed to get it to work but its not ideal. To sum up , we all fell in love with Tall Trees and cannot wait to return. It truly is a magical place tucked away in the hills. There is complete privacy and peace and quiet.

The property is in a beautiful position and well maintained. It lack kitchenware could do with few extras for people who do cook on site. Disappointed that this was the first property in the lakes which did not provide a welcome pack and also there mention of the property next door even though it did not interfere with our stay

Wow!!! This place is my haven! I have been going this area for many years and this place will be the only place I will book when I return! It felt home from home for me, very peaceful and I can't wait to go back already! Credit to the owners they really have gone above and beyond and thought of everything how they would want it. I had such a pleasant stay with my mum and my little dog we just loved it! I will check out some dates over the coming days to book a week stay come summer time and some short stays for the rest of the year! Thank you so much!

Was a lovely stay, unfortunately was a bit more stressful then we hoped for, as no stair gate to stop little ones going down or up the stairs.

The property is gorgeous & in a stunning location with a fabulous walk with more stunning views literally outside the front gate. I wish there had been a note about the tumble dryer not working. The beds were comfortable and linens clean & fresh. The underfloor heating was useful in the colder mornings but the upstairs stayed naturally warm when the sun shone, which was every afternoon during our stay. Definitely hope to return. Thank you very much.

Stunning property inside & out! The views from the upstairs living room are amazing. Comfy sofas & beds & the bathrooms were clean & fresh ... no previously mentioned smell issues. Kitchen is a little lacking in cupboard space for provisions but nothing a little rearranging doesn't solve & plenty of work surface as a back up. My only complaint being that we arrived to a cold property! We turned the thermostats up in all the rooms but couldn't find the one in the living room ... it's hidden behind the sofa! Unfortunately under floor heating isn't instant & it took more than 24hrs to get up to a comfortable temperature & wasn't warm upstairs in the lounge for 2 days until we found the thermostat & realised it was set to zero! Yes there's a log burner but the starter pack was 2 logs which had gone in 30mins trying to warm up the big space. Wouldn't stop us returning but it would've been much better to be greeted by a warm property on cold January day.

Third time staying at tall trees! Such a peaceful place in a great location, the walk up behind the house has the most amazing views of lake Windermere! We will be back

Its perfectly located to explore beautiful Cumbria and about 5 mins out of Bowness, close enough to the restaurants and cafes if that's your thing. Very well appointed throughout so you wont be disappointed if you pay TT a visit. Its our fourth visit and we highly recommended it.

We arrived at the property after dark and had trouble finding it at first. The name of the property is on the right hand pillar but not very visible when it is dark. The property is gated which was not on the description of how to find it, nor is there mention of the newer property that stands adjacent to it. Had we arrived in the day, this wouldn't have been an issue. The property itself is lovely, with beautiful views from the upstairs living area. It is well furnished, spacious and comfortable. There is limited shelf space in the kitchen to keep food items, so a larger family would have to make use of the utility area downstairs. The utility room has been the subject of negative reviews on account of the smell. It certainly smells pretty bad, but once the door is closed, this wasn't noticeable. The water pump by the front door and master bedroom is quite noisy but it goes off after a few minutes of the water being used. Outside the property is a pleasant garden and patios both front and back that are well furnished and great for when the sun shines. We liked it and would recommend it to others.

We had a fantastic week in Windermere and this property made it a great experience for our stay. The property is everything you see in the pictures and more. The upstairs is a great space for relaxing and entertaining, we were lucky to have a week of sunshine and the space was warm and offered stunning views. The setting is stunning day or night. The underfloor heating was lovely, although we didnt seem to get the benefit upstairs but the space soon warms up with the sun. The house was generally clean and tidy, under sofas were a bit grubby and cobwebs in the lights presumably after the winter but did not detract from enjoying the property. The gardens are amazing and the location is quiet and private. There is a footpath which goes past the garden which is a short sharp walk to an area for stunning panoramic views, there is a lovely bench to sit and enjoy. Plenty of local amenities are a short drive away with great food options. Tall Trees is a stunning property and we were lucky to find and use for a week. Would thoroughly recommend and is very generous space for 6 people we were 2 adults and a baby plus four legged friend. If you are looking for a quiet private space with easy access to the lakes then this is a perfect property.

The property was very nice overall but for the cost it did have some issues. The utility room smelt dreadful and the washing machine door surround was covered in mould which we cleaned. This smell did permeate around the lower floor for a couple of days until we managed to get rid of the smell. The outdoor lights on the front balcony trip the circuit breaker when it is raining, so be aware. The fire glass had not been cleaned in a long time we cleaned it. The utility room produces a constant 'hum' which was not a problem for us as we were only 2 people and slept at the other end of the hall but might annoy people in the room adjacent.

Wonderful property, exactly as described. We had a very enjoyable stay and the property was perfect for us. Would very happily stay here again with one exception. the smell from the utility room and twin bedroom ensuite was extremely unpleasant. We placed rolled up towels at the base of the doorway to both areas to stop the smell from invading the rest of the property this worked well and we enjoyed our stay regardless. Those of us who stayed in the twin bedroom and the double bedroom with the rolltop bath shared the other separate bathroom off of the corridor. It is a shame really because the property is absolutely wonderful. We certainly enjoyed the lovely log fire and 360 view from the living area. Local walks from the door were great. The property itself was a perfect base to drive from for the most wonderful and challenging walks further afield. Everything catered for within the property, also clean and tidy.

We booked this gorgeous property with my mam and dad both in their 70s. So we had a total of 6 in the group....the property is amazing.... breathtaking views from the extensive veranda....the accuracy of the house description is spot on...the summerhouse room is huge, although storage space is somewhat limited....there is a utility room with larger American fridge freezer downstairs, so over the week you definitely get your steps in...The only other negative we could find from the kitchen space would be to have a larger dishwasher...as the house sleeps 6 then a normal sized dishwasher would be more practical than the half size one currently in place....The outdoor furniture is gorgeous and luckily the weather enabled us to use this a few times...the extended garden was superb for the dog to play although the walk to the top of the hill that starts alongside the house is fantastic...the views of Windermere from the stone seat on the top of the hill are breathtaking.... each room were very well suited, 2 with en suite. The middle bedroom had a plumbed in roll top bath which we never used and a separate bathroom at the end of the ground floor...the showers were walk in ones which was great for my folks and the mirrors were Bluetooth enabled which is a fancy touch...the only complaints we had from the rooms were that the twin room bathroom had a sewerage smell which we had seen from previous reviews. It wasn't a game changer but probably needs addressing...there is also a boiler that sits next to the front door, which seemed to be on a lot and when so was noisy especially at night. We just left the heating settings as we found them so this may be why the boiler was on a lot, the temperature was comfortable so thought it was pointless to tinker with them. On the positive side, my folks have travelled all over the world in every type of accommodation and they both agreed the beds were the comfiest they'd ever slept in....high praise!!!. Overall I have to say we were so happy to pay a little more than usual as you could really benefit the extra space....I did have to laugh that when I went downstairs to get some stuff from the larger fridge my watch would lose Bluetooth connection from my phone which highlighted the size of the property....We would certainly recommend this property to anyone....the negative points are minor in comparison to the beauty of the place and size of the property....

Fantastic house in a great location. This house has absolutely everything you could need. Car is a must though as nothing is within walking distance.

Absolutely incredible house, in the perfect location. This house was the perfect setting for our family vacation. House was impeccably clean, with excellent facilities. Cant wait to go back next year!

The propertys location is stunning, and the garden space is beautiful. Overall the property is spacious and comfortable. As we were staying during the very hot weather we found the upstairs heat like a greenhouse. Fans or an air con unit might be helpful. We closed some of the blinds but keeping doors open wasnt possible due to the number of midgesflys. The MAJOR issue was the situation with littleno running water!! The tap upstairs trickles, and after a very sweaty, sun cream day we were looking forward to using one of the showersbut no water again just a trickle. We arrived on a sat eve so it was Sunday when I tried to contact Lakeloversafter ringing all the numbers for 2 hours I gave up! Not even able to leave a voicemail message. We had to buy bottled water and make do. Eventually spoke with Steve on Monday who advised hed been made aware that the boiler needed a new part?!? I was advised a plumber would try and fit the part that dayno response so I called again and spoke with Emma. No part was available but she advised how to try and temp fix the issue I tried but the noise was awful and it felt dangerous. I called again.. and eventually approx 7pm at night a plumber came. But not to fix it but to try and resolve it temporarilywithout luck! We laughed about it as the boiler is held together with a golf ball and two scouring sponges!! For the amount we paid, for the lack of assistance and for absolutely no offer to even refund or move us I will not be using this company again. We had our daughter staying on Monday but she had to leave Tuesday my husbands birthday as well!, as the showerwater situation was too much for her to endure. It felt like glamping not luxury living. I do not understand why this property is being let out when theres no waterwater pressure. Id like some form of compensation and I left a note to the cleaners as it became difficult to even clean dishes as the dishwasher was struggling too., and the kitchen tap had completely stopped working! Amazing property

Lovely property in a very quiet setting but only a couple of miles from Bowness. Pub 2 miles walk across open country. High quality build, well appointed, with a large patio and garden. Surrounded by forest on 3 sides, with a public footpath starting right outside. There is a hidden gem walk up the footpath , and shortly after you emerge into open country rheough a field gate , climb to your left, there is a stone bench with a great view of Windermere. The bench is only minutes walk from the property. Would definitely go back. The only improvement would be a cupboard to store groceries.

The place is beautiful. However, when we arrived we had to clean all if the dishes and cutlery, including the cutlery tray, as they were all dirty. It seems the cleaners rely on the previous holiday makers to do their job and they don't check if things are up to standard. I was dismayed and shocked when I removed the bedding ad ther were urine and what looked like blood stains on ALL of the mattresses and the duvets. I own a Guest House and would never cover up such disgraceful mattresses and expect people people to sleep on them. I hope the owner sees this review and makes changes. There are other points I could make, but none as bad as the beds.

We adored staying at Tall Trees. It is the perfect home for a week in the Lakes. We were very fortunate to be there during a beautiful week in spring. The light and spacious top floor was amazing. Furnishings were great, facilities wonderful, it was perfectly clean and we were very happy there. The pictures on your website actually manage to understate how lovely the house is. The views from the front of the house are spectacular and don't really get featured on the website. We had rather assumed that the house was within the woods.

A beautiful property, we have stayed in the area for many years and this was by far the most stunning property that we have stayed in, we would not hesitate to return.

Gorgeous house and surrounding gardens in a great location,perfect for families and a dog. What really lets this property down is the strong smell of sewage from all three of the bathrooms, it got worse as the week went on. It really was awful! We were also greeted by an explosion of Diet Coke, someone had left cans of pop in the freezer in the main kitchen which had exploded and left a right mess! We cleaned it up the best we could! We love the lakes but we wont be staying here again!

Fabulous!! Read a few negative reviews before coming but we didnt find any issues at all . House was immaculate, super comfortable, gorgeous views and in a lovely secluded location. Walks on the doorstep and a great base for visiting the lakes. Didnt want to leave and would definitely come back.

A great venue very well kitted out , amazing views Can publish above on site below is for information Barbecue would be helpful Local walking routes or guidance with local canoe hire water sports or gym facilities would enhance experience. We had good help from company with bird strike and window Bit pricey

Unclean floors throughout, couches dirty, dirty and stained dining room chairs, disgusting, heavily stained mattresses. Dryer didn't work at all, TV broke in lounge, no TV for 3 nights maintenance couldn't fix Odd to not have any space to store food in kitchen, except a small tiered basket. Foul smell of drains downstairs, worst being in one en suite which was unbearable. Boiler made a terrible noise when hot water was used. Patio doors are exceptionally heavy! Stunning views, lovely garden, great walk from the doorstep, great location. Good layout, comfortable even though filthy beds, lovely upstairs open plan room. Should be rated 4 star, not 5 star.

What a wonderful property! Stunning views over the lake and mountains in the distance, and we were treated to a few flybys from the RAF over Windermere. Its a lovely house with a stunning garden, our little sausage dog had a ball sniffing round the garden. We would not hesitate to stay here again! The only thing that wasnt perfect was the boiler its very noisy so if you have a shower late at night, be prepared for about 10 minutes of noise. It soon goes quiet again so not a major inconvenience, but certainly something to be aware of for light sleepers or those with small children.

Loved the house, was very cosy and warm even without the fire lit. Great location and very quiet away from Bowness. Only criticism was there was no cleaning product to clean the bathroomtoilets with.

Lovely stay at Tall Trees and we have booked again to stay in July. Some suggestions the mugs need replacing, some are chipped and well worn. Id also suggest a few storage baskets to keep fruit, bread or tinned foods in. The builders next door were very pleasant and considerate, we had no issues at all. Highly recommend, what a beautiful property the owner have!
