The Smithy Reviews

We loved The Smithy, it had everything we needed for our short break. The beds were comfortable with lovely white bed linen. It was a very cosy and warm cottage. Would like to visit again soon.
Amanda
Clean, comfortable cottage and generous welcome pack. Particularly appreciated log burner and dogfriendly facilities.

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is quiet, remote. Yet within easy reach of many of the local must see places. It is well equipped and very clean.
Amanda
Perfectly Peaceful! Superior quality accommodation in a fabulous setting easy to get up and down the coast and to the A1. The lovely welcome gifts and flowers were really appreciated. Two double rooms is a rare find, large main bathroom made up for the tiny 2nd shower room, and the garden is private, spotlessly clean & very peaceful. The lounge is cosy and comfortable the kitchen well equipped. You do need a car to get anywhere at all as nothing close by to walk to, but that is perfect for us. Just a couple of really minor things to share, the over baking tray is rusty and needs replacing, the kitchen clock and fairy lights in lounge need new batteries and one of the mattresses on the zip link bed might need replacing. Minor stuff, its a joyful special place, we loved it.
In a peaceful and delightful countryside location, The Smithy was a perfect place for us to explore and enjoy the beauty of Northumberland. Spacious and having everything we wanted, we very much enjoyed our stay here. The owner was very understanding and helpful, going out of her way to make sure we were reunited with an item we had inadvertently left behind. We would like to visit again sometime. Thank you!

We had a lovely stay, really comfy beds, comfy living room, nice decor, plenty of space for the 4 of us and one small dog. We appreciated the secure garden, especially as it was a hot week and we enjoyed sitting outside. We also appreciated the lovely welcome tray. The only downside was the lack of information provided. All the instruction manuals were there but usually when we stay in selfcatering accommodation which we do several times a year there is a folder with useful information such as WiFi code, what to do with rubbish ie what can be recycled, bin collection day, whether we need to strip the beds on the morning we leave, useful phone numbers such as local GP, dentist, nearest hospital etc, recommendations for local places to eat etc etc. We managed without it, obviously, but it would have been useful to have. Other than that, though, we had a lovely holiday.

We really loved The Smithy and found it to have everything you could need for a wonderful stay. It was lovely warm, clean and comfortable. The bed linen and towels are white and feel a nice quality. We loved the view from the back gate and you can even see the sea in the distance! It is a very peaceful place and we left feeling relaxed and chilled. The owner gave us some good recommendations about the local area of things to do and see. We especially loved The Joiners Inn for lunch and Beadnell Bay for a stunning beach and harbour where we even spotted some dolphins!
