Walton House Reviews

Stephen
Great location, comfortably slept eight guests. Clean and tidy but showing minor signs of wear, but does not detract from any enjoyment. Toaster does need an upgrade, but other than this, everything worked as it should. Quick access to the beach, Lord Nelson pub and the most fabulous gelato and coffee shop.

Very nice spacious property close to everything that you need. All white goods easy to use without having to read instructions. Very comfortable week. Thank you Couple of negative comments. Too many stairs for older generation outside area could not sit due to rubbish bins Smelling and flies. Yes we know it's hot but not a pleasant area.

The perfect seaside stay! ! Such a cosy , welcoming and elegant property!!
This is the second year we have stayed here. Location fantastic, I did request for the twin beds to be combined into a double, but this was not done. I requested it last year as well! I also requested a travel cot , stair gate and a high chair, there were no straps for the high chair, so not useable. The stair gates wont fix to the stairs because the bannisters move around too much. Despite this we enjoyed our week .
The property is perfectly situated in the heart of Southwold. We have been coming to Southwold for many years and it is definitely the best location we have stayed in being literally a minutes walk to everything you need. We were a group of two families with six adults and two children and two dogs and the house felt plenty big enough for everyone. The dining area is very sociable as it has a large table which could seat us all in comfort, where we enjoyed a lovely New Years Eve meal. One of our initial concerns was the lack of parking but that wasn't an issue. You can easily park up right outside and unload and then we had no problem finding space in the town to park up the cars for the duration of our stay. Once you are in Southwold you don't need transport as everything is within easy walking reach. Highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

Group of 8 adults celebrating a 50th Great space in the lounge for gathering Kitchen well equipped with everything you needed and we loved the big table to eat around . Kitchen tap could do with being replaced Bedrooms Nice beds okay maybe new mattresses would be a good investment and some wear and tear on some places but overall Fabulous location Overall I would book again and recommend to others 100

Great accommodation, spacious and comfortable. Access a little difficult through an alleyway between shops, plus there's no nearby parking and the property has lots of stairs, so wouldn't be suitable for everyone, but for what we were after it was perfect!
Great location. Very clear instructions for arrival. Property is a little tired and in need of decoration. Stair gates had a bolt missing. We managed to use them in doorway but they wouldnt be safe on stairs. Ground floor conservatory was very handy to leave pram, etc.
Gorgeous location and super accommodation. Faultless! We just felt that having to buy loo roll....washing up liquid....toilet cleaner....washing powder..tea towels etc was unusual and we have frequently stayed in rental accommodation where, of course, you replace if these products run out. That's a small issue though! We loved it....we would heartily recommend to all larger groups . Great central location....for everything!

We love Walton House. It is spacious and in a marvellous position. The only complaints several in the party had were the seagulls which continue to squawk at 3am! Whilst there are some elements which are reflected in the price, such as a small yard rather than a garden, there is plenty of room inside. Both the kitchen and the very large lounge can easily and comfortably sit more than the eight the property is advertised for so our friends could come and join us for a meal. There is also a snug for anyone wanting a bit of peace, and a conservatory to leave things in. It's the second time we've stayed at this property, and we would book it again without hesitation, once we know the arrangements of all the party members for 2026!

A lovely family house. Lots of space for 6 people, ideally we would have liked a walk in shower in the upstairs bathroom.

We have been renting houses in Southwold for many years, but this was the first time we have stayed at Walton House. The dining room could seat all of us and guests we had over 13 people!, and we then all sat comfortably in the lounge. It's rare to find such spacious accommodation. Whilst the stairs to the top floor were a bit of a challenge for the oldest 89yearold member of the party, he did manage them. I would suggest reconfiguring the zipandlink beds on the first floor to two singles, as the other, spritelier, members of the party were all couples, and required double beds. We enjoyed, and made use of, the upper snug, including for flute practice. The central position in town is superb, and prebreakfast swims, and a nip to Tescos for the smallest thing were easy, plus fish and chips opposite and H&J ice creams practically next door as well as The Nelson. It is not the most perfectlypresented house we have stayed in, but conversely, this gave it great character, as ultramodernised properties can be a bit too much, particularly when you have sand stuck to your feet from the beach. This is one of the best of the many houses we have stayed in, despite the oddities such as a very small yard, being able to hear people in the charity shop below, the shop getting stock from the shed in the courtyard, and some of the original door catches no longer closing properly which can make it difficult to keep a dog off the beds, although stair gates were provided. We will be booking for next year!

Upper bathroom needs a conventional shower everyone ended up using the downstairs shower The name of the house should be on the front of property or on the access gate I had to ask confirmation in the shop below The feather filled cushions were a problem because small feathers everywhere in lounge

The holiday house was just what we wanted for a family festive stay in Southwold, thank you. I did request the king size bed be separated, but when we arrived it had not been. I found it difficult to navigate all the different companies responsible for the property, lots of emails from lots of companies involved. A couple of things that really need addressing is the kitchen tap which is loose and the onoff turn is so difficult, it is going to come off in someones hand very soon? Both bathrooms are a good size, it really would be useful to have a shower over the bath and a shower curtain, most people want a shower and with that many in the house it would have worked much better to have two. However we had a lovely time and it worked really well with plenty of living space. On a separate note I did not put the rubbish out as the collection is not until Friday I checked the county council website. Also with it being so windy I did not want to leave it out in case in went over, that would have been terrible for the street.
Another wonderfully relaxing family holiday is this comfortable, convenient and very well equipped house. Just a couple of comments new shower is brilliant but upstairs bath and handheld shower could do with a shower curtain and now we are all adults we find that the 2 single beds in the top left hand bedroom are not big enough rather narrow and short and we are not big people!

Lovely house in a perfect position in Southwold. Our 12th stay in various houses in Southwold. We found the property cold on occasion for my elderly parents and the showerhot water was a little unreliable. We loved the main sitting room and added to the glasses collection by purchasing from the charity chop below. Thank you
Robert
We had a great stay. Good location in the centre of town with access to everything you could need.
Third time at W House and another very comfortable stay. Thank you. Very well equipped kitchen and large sitting room. One thing the showers one over bath fixed and one handheld could be better.
